Chapter 12: Saying Yes to the Deal
Ms Author- Idol
Bzz.. Bzzzz..
My phone vibrated for the umpteenth time. I groaned, editor, please stop bugging me. Finding my way to the emergency stairs, I answered the call, giving up on ignoring her calls.
“Neh, Ms Baek,”
“You’re ignoring my calls again!” Ms Baek sounded annoyed. It had been my habit to avoid if I can’t finish my draft on time.
“But…my draft isn’t finished.”
“I’m not complaining. But this is a totally different matter. It’s about Kim Yuri and your book cover.”
“Oh? Why? Is there a problem? We can’t get her?”
“We set an appointment date this coming Monday, at night. So, be there on time!”
“Same old place?”
“Neh! And…” Ms Baek paused.
“Yeah?”
“DO OUT YOUR DRAFT!” Ms Baek couldn’t help but to give a harsh reminder.
“NEH!!!” I yelled back. Seriously, didn’t she know a term called writer’s block? I hung up and gave a deep sigh. Though writing was my passion, rushing wasn’t my hobby at all. Arranging my expression, I went out of the stairs.
“OMG!” I exclaimed, my heart skipped a beat. JaeJoong was standing right at the entrance.
“Gosh! You scared me!” I placed my hands over my heart, trying to sooth myself.
“Why? Doing something that you are feeling guilty about?” JaeJoong gave a smirk.
“What are you doing here?” I decided to ignore his question.
“To look for you,” JaeJoong said simply.
“Wae?”
“Confirm that smirk of yours,” JaeJoong smiled. How could he saw something so detailed when he’s sitting so far?!
“What smirk?” I tried to act innocent.
“You seemed to be hiding a lot of things,” JaeJoong inspected me.
“No,” I lied.
“Well, why not we make a deal?”
“What deal?”
“If you tell me your secret, then I’ll do whatever you want me to do.”
“What? I don’t have a secret in the first place.”
“Ah…” JaeJoong grinned evilly. “Then I shall tell everyone about Kim Yuri and Ms Baek and about the…”
I covered his mouth immediately, stopping him from completing the sentence.
“Fine, I agree!” I hushed him. JaeJoong’s smile could be felt, even through my hands.
Unknown to us, a pair of sharp eyes watching and listening.
