To the Moon

"Jung Shik? Who cares!" You muttered into the phone as you exited your car, making your way inside the hospital. "I blew him off because I have no intentions of thinking him like my dad."

"You shouldn't of have." Your mother tsked at you through the phone. "He was really upset."

"That was like two days ago. He should get over it."

"____!"

"Okay, sorry, I'll apologize, or something." You sighed. "I got to go. I have some things to talk about with Tae Hee." You hung up without another word, shook your head to clear your annoyance, and headed into the hospital, finding the counter just as she was walking from it. "Are you leaving?"

"Yeah, I only had to pick up a few papers from my visit on Sunday." She spoke bluntly with you as you tagged along to her side. "Why are you here and how did you know I was here?"

"I just got off the phone with mo... My mom."

She rolled her eyes. "So what do you want?"

"I want to ask a question about Jae Jung. You did articles on him before, right?"

"Parc Jae Jung? Yeah, I did, a while ago anyways." You two paused just outside the hospital, a few people recognizing you and just simply pointing and leaving. You weren't anyone special, it was probably just cool for them to see someone who was internet popular on the streets. "What do you want to know?"

"His family."

"Why? Are you actually thinking about dating him for real?"

"How'd you know it was fake? Even my mom doesn't know it's fake."

"I'm not stupid." She laughed at you, looking through the papers as she spoke. "I don't know much about his family so I'm limited."

"Tell me what you know." I want to know why he isn't on good terms with them. I noticed this issue as he was leaving Korea because none of his family showed up and when I asked why, he said he'd rather not talk about his family.

"I know that he doesn't have one."

"Huh? That's impossible."

"He's never talked about them over interviews and when asked the question, he avoids it. We've never seen any sort of family member in public or even with him. We, as in us reporters, assumed that he didn't have family and we asked him if we could say that in an article about him and just told us 'sure' with a shrug." Tae Hee mumbled. "That's all I know. To the internet and to the reporters, he doesn't have one. If you happen to think something different then you seek me, I'd love to make some money off of that story."

"Idiot." You grumbled. "And I thought you'd know something." I wonder if he doesn't want them to be known to the public? I know he has family because he talks on the phone with his father a lot. I just wonder why he'd never be anywhere with them.

"Is this all you wanted to know? I'm busy." Tae Hee shifted the papers in her arms and looked at you. "How's your relationship with Hakyeon?"

"You don't have the right to use his name informally like that." You frowned.

"How is your relationship with Mr. Cha Hakyeon." She spoke sarcastically.

"And you have no right to know." You smirked, turned, and trotted back to your car. "Thanks for nothing, Tae Hee!"

"Anytime." She yowled after you, heading down the steps, and walked the opposite way to her car as well.

Your phone rang the second you got into the car, and without checking who it was, you answered it quickly. "Hello?"

"___? Where are you?" Your manager sighed.

"I don't have anything today." You mumbled. "Are you trying to guilt trip me into more work hours? It won't work!"

"Look online. You're involved with something again and the director is too pleased." He hung up, clearly done with you for the time being.

What now?

You looked onto Jae Jung's twitter and sure enough, found unsettled news. "Jae Jung's girlfriend of 1 year caught going into VIXX's dorm while Jae Jung was abroad. What could this mean?"

Reporters are just every where, hm? You decided to stop at your house real fast to grab something before heading to the company to get scolded by your director.

You pulled into the lot, went to your apartment, grabbed the papers you needed and went back to your car, starting it up quickly as your phone rang. It's the director to bug me, isn't it? Well, I'm not answering. He'll see me soon anyways.

You turned off your phone and sped out of the lot and onto the road. I'm so dead today.

But as you drove to the company, something in your heart ached. You didn't know just what it was but you felt like you were forgetting something important. But, of course, you ignored it and continued on your way. You mistook those feelings for anxiety to the upcoming scolding you were about to recieve.

--

So, the scolding was brief, shockingly. But the punishment was yet again harsh. You were stuck with weekends full of work now instead of having them off. And this was your last warning before he claimed the money that was promised if you were to break the contract.

You stared at the ceiling of your manager's office, waiting for him to return with any paperwork you assumed you'd get as extra punishment, like always. But as the minutes droned on and the daylight outside vanished, you decided to just leave, turning on your phone as you did so.

You were in the elevator when everything loaded up, taking you by complete surprise at first.

14 missed calls from Yeonie.

10 new messages from Yeonie.

2 new message from Ugly Duck.

2 missed calls from Ugly Duck.

1 missed call from Ha Yi.

1 new message from Ha Yi.

What the hell? Why is everyone calling me today? Wait... Your heart dropped and you looked at the what day it was, not moving even when the elevator opened. Today is Tuesday... Hakyeon was going to take me on a date today...

From: Yeonie

When do you want me to come get you?

From: Yeonie

____?

From: Yeonie

Are you home? I'll just go over there now.

From: Yeonie

You're not home...? Ha Yi said she'll call you since you're not answering me...

From: Yeonie

Pout

From: Yeonie

____? Did something happen?

From: Yeonie

You just turned off your phone when I called you? Are you mad?

From: Yeonie

Did I do something? Why is your phone still off?

From: Yeonie

It's still off...

From: Yeonie

Considering it's nearly 10pm, I guess no date then? Thanks for the heads up... And for ignoring my calls. Turn on your phone.

From: Ugly Duck

Hakyeon said you turned off his phone when you called him and asked me to call you.

From: Ugly Duck

He asked me to call again. Are you mad at him or something?

From: Ha Yi

Aren't you the biggest on the earth?! How could you stand him up like that!? He had something super sweet planned as well. I was melting listening to the plans! He even brought a rose for you! You better have a real good reason for this. Even if you two were fighting or something, that was a jerk move.

You stepped out of the elevator quickly and ran out of the company building and to your car, your heart pounding and aching the whole way. How could I forget!? I even told myself that I had to go back home after seeing Tae Hee and get ready for it! Why do I always screw things up?

"____! Where are you going? You can't just bail!" Your manager snatched your arm, knocking your phone out of your hand.

"I have places to be!" You mumbled, frantically picking up your phone and wiping off the dirt. "Can I just do it later?"

"It's nearly midnight! When is later?"

"EXACTLY! I should be home! It's not even my day to work."

"It is now, the director is serious this time. He let you slid once to many times." Your manager frowned. "You're trying to run to Cha Hakyeon but you can't this time."

"And why not? I thought you were on my side?"

"I was, until I was caught." He smirked a little. "We're both on our last warning, and I didn't get any free tickets like you did."

"What?" You relaxed and looked at him, guilt clouding your gaze.

"The director called VIXX's manager and director about an hour or so ago and told them that Hakyeon is not to see you under any circumstances. And I was requested to do the same with you seeing him." He shook his head. "This is a huge mess that you buried yourself in and this time, you're out of free tickets. It's a job, ____."

"Then I'll quit! I was with him long before I started this stupid job!"

"Has it been a year? I think not. Unless you want to be sued for all you've got, then you better follow the contract from here on out. Quit at the end but right now, you're stuck." He looked like he was pitying you but he hid it well after you took notice. "Just go home. Don't go to Hakyeon, I guarantee the VIXX manager and members will all inform the director of your actions, whether they're your friends or not, it's their job as well and they are following what they've been told. You should too."

You stood there, frozen, for quite sometime before nodding. "Fine. I won't see him." You gave in, throwing your arms up and dropping them to your side with frustration. "You guys win. I give up."

"____-ah..." Your manager looked surprised that you actually gave up and the pity and sympathy shown as bright as day on his face. He reached out to touch your shoulder but you went over to your driver door.

"I'll be here tomorrow morning for my classes, then." You sighed, getting into the car, shutting the door, and driving off quickly, throwing your phone into the backseat. This company is a death trap. This was planned from the beginning. To get Hakyeon away from me. I knew it. I regret everything.

You sped the whole way home and parked, standing beside your car and staring at the dorm a crossed the street. You pulled out your phone and texted Hakyeon.

To: Yeonie

Come find me, please. I'll make it up to you, I promise. I got overwhelmed with the director and forgot... Please forgive me.

Your phone vibrated as you headed inside, getting you excited that he answered so fast but only to look at it and have your heart shatter.

This number is no longer in service.

You paused just before entering the back way. Did they take his phone? They wouldn't go that far, would they?

You your heels and went to head for the dorms, only to stop yourself with a frustrated sigh and continue inside your complex, finding your apartment quickly and locking yourself inside. I'll stay away from Hakyeon for a few days then I'll go over there. I'll be even more careful this time. I forget that I have eyes on me now that Jae Jung and I are a "thing".

"Ha Yi-ah!" You called. "Ha..." You stopped when you noticed the apartment was oddly quiet. "Is she not here?"

You went into her room and froze. Nearly everything was gone. The only things that remained was her dresser, an empty bed, and a few empty boxes. But all of her clothes, make up, anything, were gone. You checked around the house and noticed everything of hers was gone and no sign of a note. She moved out? Without a warning or even a note?

You sat down on the floor in the hall and leaned against the wall, staring at the other blank wall. Hakyeon is untouchable, Ha Yi is gone, Hyun Shik is no longer a friend apparently, Wonsik and the other VIXX members are obviously untouchable now as well, and I can't make time with the twins because of how busy they are. Plus, Jae Jung is abroad! Everything went down hill and I didn't even notice it happening. I was so caught up with the intimate times Hakyeon and I shared recently that I went oblivious to my surroundings. And now I'm left here... Not even Ha Yi to turn to.

You sighed and buried your face into your knees, only planning on sitting there for a little bit but ending up falling asleep.

I can live alone. It's not bad.

--

Oh, it's bad. You've never been so lonely before in your life. Hakyeon was untouchable and there was no news with VIXX, Ha Yi didn't reply to any of the messages you sent, and your own manager wasn't even around lately because he was running errands for the director as sort of a up thing. It's only been a total of 4 days since everyone suddenly vanished from your life and you were already depressed.

"Are you listening?" The director glared at you. "Did you hear anything I just said?"

"Can you repeat? I'm sorry." You frowned, lowing your head in defeat.

"What's gotten into you lately? You haven't went against any of my orders, talked back to me, or even rolled your eyes. You're quiet and still. What is it?" He sighed, frustrated.

You shrugged, lifting your head again. "My friend mov..."

"Stop, I don't really care." He stopped you with a plastered smile on his face.

You nodded and lowered your eyes again. I'm use to it. It's been like this since the day I was caught going into the dorm.

"Listen, you finished up filming the scenes in that one drama... Right?"

"I was only an extra, I was in like 2 scenes." You nodded again.

"I want you to audition for a music video this time around. Find a solo artist that is in need of an actress for his music video and apply to be in it. You seem to be a hit in the last one you filmed with that other solo artist. Let's do it again, hm?"

"Sure." You sighed. "I'll do my research and watch online."

"I have your manager watching as well." He nodded, smiling once more. "I like you like this, stay like this. You're submissive and quiet, keep it that way."

You just nodded with a simple, "Sure."

You weren't like severely depressed but you were to the point where it hurt thinking about going home to no one with no contact of anyone either. "You can leave now." He shooed you away.

You stood up, gave a slight bow, and left the office, heading down the elevator to your manager's office. You weren't surprised when he wasn't to be found so you just sat in his desk chair like normal.

To: Yeonie

It's been 4 days and I still feel guilty for standing you up. Let me find away around this issue and then I'll apologize for standing you up.

You knew the same message would pop up because his number wasn't active anymore. But, you always texted the number anyways. It gave you a little sense of hope, to say the least.

I think... I think I'm going to visit the dorm tonight. I have too. I'm tired of staying away and at a distance.

Just as you were getting up to do just that, your manager walked in the door, surprised to see you. "You're here? What about classes?"

"The director called them off for today." You relaxed back into the chair. "Don't ask me why, he didn't say so."

"I know why, it's fine." He set some paperwork down on his desk and smiled. "How are you lately?"

"Depressed." You answered flatly. "You people are horrible, you know? You can't just step in between someone's love like this."

"I didn't until my job was threatened. I need to be able to put food on that table as well." His smile left him with a face full of guilt. "I let you slide as long as I could."

"Yeah, thanks, I guess." You sighed, standing up. "I'm going home unless you have something for me to do."

"Would you like to eat dinner with me?" He offered as you headed out.

You shook your head, throwing over your shoulder, a simple "no thanks" and then leaving the room and heading to the elevator.

I'm going to visit the dorm. I doubt Hakyeon is angry but he must be hurt... I want to fix it.

--

You took a ragged, deep breath and then knocked on the door. You kept glancing around for reporters and hiding your face in the hoodie you threw on, even though there was no one. You knocked again. No answer.

Are they out? Or are they sleeping?

You turned to walk away and ran into Tae Hee. "Tae Hee?" You glanced at her, all sorts of thoughts running through your head on why she may be here. But you just pushed them all away because you trusted Hakyeon.

"I knew you'd be here." She sighed, crossing her arms. Her eyes were soft even though her body language and voice were sharp and on guard.

"Were you looking for me?" You looked at her oddly once more.

"Were you hoping for Hakyeon?"

You ditched your question, coming to the realization that she knew where he was. "Is he away?"

"Of course, they all are." She put her arms down and rested them on her hips. "I figured that after the article of you going into this dorm was out, that something would happen. Fill me in before I fill you in."

"Were you the reporter?"

"Nope."

"How do you know about Hakyeon?"

"Because I did the report on him on a different topic."

"Good?"

"Good."

"Okay." You nodded. "I was given a final chance before they sued me due to breaching of the contract. So I stayed away... For 4 days. I tried to text him but the number isn't active."

"Sue? Wow, tough stuff." She chuckled a little. "VIXX is in China."

"China?" Your heart sank. When did they leave? When will they be back?"

"They left 3 or so days ago and they'll be back in a few days. How do you not know?"

"My director must've blocked VIXX on my account." You sighed. "I wondered why there was no news on VIXX. I'll just use my personal account then."

"Do you know why I date guys with money?"

"Why?"

"Because most guys that went places in life, have the money to be home often and to hang out." She frowned. "Idols? Not only do half of them not make it as far as others but they never have time. People get in the way of relationships, invade privacy, take them away from you, all of that. I didn't want to lose Hakyeon like that, that's why I made some horrible choices."

"This doesn't justify your choices... It just makes you kind of worse."

"I'm not looking for justice to what I did, there is none. I'm just saying that now you know where I come from, partly."

"Okay." You nodded, passing her quickly. "Thanks."

"Good luck." She called after you. "You'll lose Hakyeon if you don't fight. But you'll lose money if you fight too much."

That's the issue. You left the dorm complex quickly and with a scowl. China... Of course he'd be in freaking China right now.

I guess I'll just have to wait.

I just hope he's waiting for my apology and not still hurting over it.

Chapter 50: This was a pleasant story overall. At the end I found it too focused on her mother's departure than on the couple. Many things have happened since they met. At the beginning he didn't want her to know him too well, now he's suffering because she doesn't show enough interest. But it was a beautiful ride. Good job, author-nims.
