3rd Person’s POV

[Sae Young Academy of Arts…June 14, 20XX]

It was Sae Young’s first evaluation so every student prepared for their performance, well…except for Erika since she wasn’t practicing at all while everyone was rehearsing again and again.

Anika’s turn came soon because of her surname ‘Choi’ that starts with C so she went up the stage. Erika watched how great Anika’s vocal is because no one has actually heard the music lover sings before.

“Choi Anika Iniel from the 4th year. You’re singing ‘Melting’ by TWICE? If I remember, it has a falsetto. Will you be okay?”

“I will…”

“Alright, let’s hear it then.” the evaluator said as the song started so Anika started to sing

Everyone were mesmerized at how smooth Anika’s voice is. It was unique and different but soft and mellow, just like Anika herself.

Anika took a deep breath before singing the falsetto that match Nayeon’s falsetto in the song.

Everyone were amazed how Anika did the falsetto perfectly without getting her voice crack.

The other students clapped their hands at Anika’s amazing voice, including Erika, Lei and even Jeril who just entered the auditorium. After a while, it was Jeril’s turn because of her surname ‘Jeon’.

“Ms. Jeon, you’re going to participate in this evaluation? You always skip it before.” the evaluator muttered

“I’m not going to participate, I’m just here to watch. Continue the evaluation without me.” Jeril answered

“No can do, J.” Jeril’s mother, the principal, suddenly appeared “You need to perform or I won’t let you proceed to the next evaluation.”

“That’s fine with me.”

“Then, you won’t be able to graduate from this school. Is that what you want?”

Jeril ‘tsked’ and sighed “Fine…I’ll dance.” she said before climbing up the stage

Ko Ko Bop by EXO played and Jeril danced to the song perfectly, making the other students forget that she’s a gangster. When she finished her dancing, she walked back towards her mother.

“Done. Are you happy?” Jeril asked sarcastically, making her mother chuckled “It’s not funny, mom.”

“Alright, alright. I’m satisfied that you showed your talents. Stay around to watch the others, okay?”

Jeril rolled her eyes and watched her mother walk away but decided to listen to her words anyway. She decided to stay and watch the performance of the others.

Erika was up next because her surname is ‘Kim’ but everyone already know her skills so they were pretty excited to see an idol perform live. The music started and Erika started singing BTS’ Dead Leaves.

Like those dead leaves there that have fallen and are flying

Erika had this smirk in her face when she started to rap Suga’s part.

Over there, the autumn leaves that look like they’re at stake

The other students were shocked when they heard how Erika rap. It was the first time they heard it and to think that Erika actually rap great is…amazing.

If our hands touch, even if it’s all at once

It only seems like it’s going to be crumbs

I just only looked with the winds of autumn

The speech and facial expressions that have gotten colder all of a sudden

An ambiguous difference that is different from before

The dead leaves, that are becoming more shriveled.

Everyone clapped their hands to Erika’s rap performance while Erika continued singing the chorus part with the victory smirk in her face.

“I never knew that you rap, Ked sshi.” the evaluator commented “Since when did you learn rapping?”

“I was actually trained to be a rapper. However, since I was a soloist, they decided to make me a vocal. In my opinion, my deep voice suits both anyway.”

“I agree to that. Well, thanks for the great performance.”

“My pleasure to do so.”

The last batch of students came and Lei was part of it because her surname is ‘Son’. The Council President was often heard giving speech in the morning assembly but no one has heard her sing seriously. However, they have great expectations because Lei’s father was an idol before.

Lei took a deep breath before singing BTS’ Love is not Over: Outro.

Oh~ Yeah…

All eyes widened at how deep Lei’s singing voice is. It could even match with Erika if only it was a little more deeper. Erika’s voice is an ocean but Lei’s voice can be considered as a sea.

The long night is following you as it flows

The other students clapped their hands, including Erika. She was always getting attached to deep-voiced.

The students clapped their hands to Lei’s performance. Erika chuckled to herself and thought ‘President Panda has a very nice voice, huh? I should collab with her sometimes.’

After the evaluation, they returned to their classes and waited for the results. After half an hour, their teacher came inside the class with the results.

“Okay, here’s the results. Some will move to lower sections while some are staying in class A however starting next evaluation, some will form units and perform together. If I call your name, you’re part of a unit.” the teacher said and started to call various names inside the classroom “Choi Anika Iniel, unit 4.”

“What?” Anika reacted “I’m in a unit?”

“Yes. They evaluate if you’re going to debut as a group or soloist. Now, please be positioned there to know the other members of your unit.”

“O-Oh…” Anika answered and walked to the front

“There are three others student in unit 4. Jeon Jeril Chase…”

“Me? No way…”

“Son Lei Min…”

“E-Eh?”

“And…Kim Erika Dane.”

“Woah, how lucky.” the students muttered and started to comment how lucky the unit 4 is

“That’s our unit 4. Now, next unit…” the teacher said as she continue arranging the students while the unit members made their way towards Anika

“Hey, President Panda.” Erika greeted Lei “Hello, savior.” she greeted Anika then faced Jeril “And the person I beat in one-on-one, hi. It’s great to have you guys as a unit because you guys are talented.”

“You’re talented than us, Ked sshi.”

“I’m flattered but…can I make a request?” Erika asked and the others nodded “I want Anika to be the main vocal. I’m going to have a repackage album so I’ll be in music shows. I can’t overstrain my voice so I’ll be main rapper, instead. Jeril is our main dancer and Lei is our leader, is that okay?”

“That’s okay with me.”

“Me, too.”

“Yeah, I agree. Then, let’s go with that.” Lei stated “Let’s have a meeting later and start practicing ASAP.”
