Sophomore year, February.
"Hey."
You shake your head, your voice barely audible within the distance separating us. You prod the sleeping boy in front of you, scoffing when the boy lets out a guttural groan and pulls his bag over his head. I watch from afar as you poke your friend again.
"It's hot, Youngjae. Let me sleep," he moans, you tugging his bag off and tapping his forehead.
"I really want to, but this is due today and you haven't started yet," you remind the boy sitting opposite you.
Your friend whines loudly, wail echoing lightly through the court. The sound of squeaking soles against the floor muffles your laugh.
"Why are we even doing it here? These benches are scorching my thighs, Youngjae. I'll be a fried chicken by the end of the day."
You squint a little, bangs obscuring a bit of your eyes and lips pursing. You say something, but I can't hear anything under Coach's booming yell. All I see are your lips moving over, head tilting to one side as your expression melts back into an amused smile. It's stupid, right? You're sitting just a few metres away on the nearby bench yet I can't even say a word.
