Eunjung POV

Jiyeon’s ankle was bright red and she even had difficulty walking.

As the nurse looked at Jiyeon’s ankle, I was worried about the last event.

Jiyeon can’t run obviously in this state!

Then, the nurse looked up and shook her head.

“You have sprained it. You should not do any exercise for the next 4 weeks and rest your ankle until it gets better. I would put a bandage over it and some gauze over the cuts on your arm.” And she left to get the stuff.

Jiyeon sighed.

I knew she was feeling bad because she will not be able to participate in the last event.

“Jiyeon ah, it’s okay if you can’t run…” I said.

“Who says I can’t? I’m doing the relay no matter what.” She replied.

I looked at her in disbelief.

“Jiyeon ah, you’ll only worsen the injury!” I said.

“I can’t afford to get out of the relay! There will be no one to replace me anyways.” She replied and shrugged like it was no big deal.

After the nurse finished bandaging her leg and applying medicine to her wounds on her arm, Jiyeon took the crutches and walked out of the room.

“Jiyeon ah!” I called after her.

As we walked out, Lee Joon and Hyosung were still there.

I stared at Lee Joon and went to follow Jiyeon.

Lee Joon POV

I was shocked when I saw Jiyeon appearing from the room in crutches and bandages on her arm.

But, I couldn’t say anything and just looked her walk away.

Eunjung gave me a death glare and walked off.

That’s when I realized there was one more event left.

She couldn’t take part in it, right?

Hyosung POV

I wanted to burst out laughing when I saw Jiyeon walking out with crutches.

My plan was going just as planned.

I smirked.

The last gold medal was mine.

Finally this year, I won’t be lower than her.

Even if I get the same rank as her, it was much better than losing.

I pulled Lee Joon and did aegyo to him.

“Oppaaaaaaa~ Help me get ready for the last race?” I said sweetly.

He smiled, nodded and followed me out.

I thought that with her injury, Jiyeon would definitely give up taking part in the relay.

But I was wrong.

She put her crutches to the side and was at the starting line for the 4^th runner.

Everyone looked in shocked as she stood there but did not there to say anything.

I walked towards her as I was the 4^th runner too.

“So, not going to give up?” I asked.

“I’ll never give up.” She replied and looked away.

I was nervous for a moment as I saw my gold medal wavering in the distance, but I looked at her ankle and knew that there was no chance she would beat me.

The race started and both our teams were really close.

She got the baton first and started running.

As I looked at her back, I quickly took the baton to catch up with her.

I thought she would beat me when I saw the crease of pain on her face.

She can’t take it anymore, I thought smugly.

Jiyeon POV

My ankle was killing me and I wanted to give up but the finish line was just in front of me.

I was about to reach it when my leg gave way and I fell to the ground inches away from the finish line and Hyosung ran past me.

I looked at the ground and tears became to well up in my eyes.
