JIYEON POV

I stared at the raindrops on my window as the rain poured nonstop outside.

At that moment, someone opened the door.

“Jiyeon ah…”

When I heard the voice, I knew it was Soyeon unni.

I turned around and forced a smile on my face, “Yes?” I said.

“Are you alright? I’m going to go out to meet Seungho…” she said, with a smile on her face.

She looks so in love and happy, I thought.

“I’ll be alright alone, go on then!” I said.

“Thanks! I’ll come back and check on you later.” She said.

I waved my hand, “It’s okay, go home after your date, I’ll be fine.”

She left and I returned to staring at the window.

Today, was supposed to be our 2^nd anniversary.

But…

I closed my eyes and went back to what happened 3 days ago.

[FLASHBACK] 3 days ago…

Lee Joon had arranged to meet me outside my apartment that night.

I bounced down happily to meet him.

It was dark in the night and I could not see the expression on his face.

“So? What did you want to see me about?” I asked happily.

We have been dating for almost 2 years already and up till now every time we meet, I am still very excited.

Lee Joon said softly, “I want to tell you something important…”

“Oh! Our 2^nd anniversary is in 3 days, have you decided what we are going to do to celebrate?” I said and cut off his sentence.

He did not reply but held my hands.

I was puzzled, what was he doing? I thought.

“I’m so sorry Jiyeon ah, but I think we should stop seeing each other.” He said.

I thought he was joking and said, “What are you talking about?”

He continued, “It’s our 3^rd year of high school this year and we will be very busy getting ready for university next year and I feel like I have no time for this relationship anymore. I’ve been thinking about it and I’m not certain how I feel any longer.”

I was so shocked that I couldn’t say anything.

Finally, I regained myself and said, “Are you serious?”

He nodded.

I could not believe this was happening.

I let go of his hands and looked at him.

“Why are you doing this?” I said.

“I’m sorry…” he replied.

“We have been dating for nearly 2 years and all you have to say about our relationship is I’m sorry?”I said, disappointed and hurt.

“Jiyeon ah…” he said.

But, I had enough and ran away from him.

I walked on and on as I wiped the tears that kept coming out of my eyes.

People kept staring at me but it didn’t bother me anymore.

Finally, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and I crouched down on the floor, head between my knees and burst out crying.

People walked away quickly, not wanting to be involved.

Just then I heard a soft pat on my shoulder.

“Jiyeon ah…”

I looked up and saw that it was Soyeon unni.

She took me to a nearby bench to sit down.

“Jiyeon ah, I heard what happened from Lee Joon. I told him not to do it, but he wouldn’t listen. I have no idea what got into him…” she said, while wiping away my tears.

I couldn’t understand why he did it too! I thought.

Soyeon unni hugged me tightly and told me that everything will be alright.

“I’ll talk to him okay?” she said.

I shook my head.

“It’s okay unni. If he’s made up his mind to do this, then there’s no point even if you try to persuade him.” I said.

“But…”she protested.

I cut her off and said, “I’m alright. Thanks.” And I left.
