Welcome Back Key

Our Happy Family

Key ran, but he didn’t get far before Jonghyun caught his arm. He couldn’t believe that Key ran away from them right after seeing them, but he wasn’t going to let him go again. Jonghyun remembered how less than an hour ago, Changjo came running home saying he knew where his Key appa was. Jonghyun had nearly dropped his cup of tea on the floor when Changjo said that and they both rushed to the diner, with Ricky with them, to meet Key.

Jonghyun didn’t expect a surprised looking Key to run away from them as soon as he saw them. Once Key started to run though, Jonghyun jumped up from his chair to chase after him. Once he had him, Key started to struggle to make Jonghyun let go, causing unwanted attention from other civilians.

            “Let me go Jonghyun!!”

“No Key, please just calm down.”

“I’ll scream Jonghyun! I swear I will if you don’t let me go!” Key said as he continued to struggle to get out of Jonghyun’s grasp. He saw Changjo getting closer to them and he knew that if Changjo got to him he would lose. He would lose his will to stay away from them and would end up returning home, making their lives miserable; just as he was before.

“Come on Key. Just come home with me and Changjo.”

Changjo was getting closer and Key knew that he had to yell. That was the only way he would get away. So he screamed, he screamed bloody murder, until a guy, bigger than Jonghyun, came up to them.

            “Is there a problem here?”

Jonghyun was quick to answer. “No, there’s not. My husband is just acting out right now.”

The man looked to Key and asked “Is that true? Is this man your husband?”

“I’ve never seen him before in my life! He just came up to me and started pulling on my arm!!”

“W-What?! Key what are you saying?! He’s lying!” Jonghyun said to the other guy.

“I think you should let him go.”

“I said he’s lying! Key, tell him you’re lying!!” Jonghyun hissed out.

“Oww!! It hurts! I don’t know you! Please let me go!” Key’s eyes were begging Jonghyun to let him go, because he didn’t want Jonghyun hurt, but he didn’t want to go home with him.

Jonghyun looked at the situation and saw that he wasn’t going to win. So reluctantly, he released Key’s arm and the other man quickly moved Key behind him.

“I think you should leave now,” he said and Jonghyun looked behind him to see Key, who was giving him apologetic eyes. “Or I could report you to the police for harassment.” The man said, drawing Jonghyun’s attention back to him.

“No, I’m leaving. Key, please come home. I miss you. Changjo misses you.”

Changjo had just caught up to his appas to hear his Key appa screaming. He heard everything that his Key appa told the unknown man and he couldn’t believe that his appa was really going to abandon them; that he really didn’t love them anymore. So once his Jjong appa gave in, Changjo did the only thing he could do; cry.

“APPA!! Do you really not love us anymore?!” He screamed out at the top of his lungs as tears started to stream down his face. Changjo felt like was ripping in two. The man that adopted and raised him was now abandoning him. He had already been abandoned once, by his mother, he didn’t want to be abandoned again. “I’m sorry appa! I’m so sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean it! So please come home!”

Jonghyun felt his eyes water up as he stared at Changjo’s helpless state, realizing then that Changjo was more broken up about this than he previously thought. He walked over to him and placed an arm around his shoulder to lead him away. Key had already made his decision and there was no reason to keep disturbing the public with their personal issues. Jonghyun tried to lead Changjo away, but Changjo pushed his arm off of him.

“No! I’m not leaving unless Key appa is coming with us! Please! I’m promise I won’t act up anymore! I’ll be good, as long as you come home appa!” Changjo pleaded and that was the end of  Key’s resolve.

He couldn’t stand to see his baby cry like that and even more to know that he was the cause of it. Key ended up running over to Changjo and wrapping his arms tightly around the crying boy. Changjo lifted his arms up to hug Key just as tight, making sure he wouldn’t leave again.

“Shh…it’s ok baby. Appa’s sorry, I shouldn’t have left you. I’ll come home,” Key said as he loosened the hug just a bit so he could look into Changjo’s still leaking eyes, “So don’t cry anymore, ok?”  Key wiped some of Changjo’s tears off of his face and Changjo hugged Key again, as tightly as he could.

“Can we go home now?” Changjo asked, calming down slightly but still not loosening his grip on Key.

“I have to get my stuff first.”

“Appa, you can get your stuff tomorrow. Please, let’s just go home now,” Changjo begged and Key ruffled his hair with a smile on his face. He knew he could never leave again like he did this time, by just looking at how broken Changjo was.

“Stop being silly. You can come with me and we can both get my stuff. Is that ok?”

Changjo nodded his head against Key’s chest before letting Key out of his bear tight hug that he had refused to release him from this whole time. He simply settled with taking Key’s hand in his as he started to lead them to the car. As they were walking, Key suddenly stopped when he saw Himchan and Ricky sitting on a bench outside of the diner that they were supposed to meet at. He let go of Changjo’s hand and swiftly went over to where they were sitting to apologize to Himchan.

“Himchan!” Key called out and Himchan stood up once he noticed the older man.

“Key hyung…is everything ok?” Himchan asked and Key shook his head, but had a smile on his face.

“Don’t worry about me; everything’s fine. I’m sorry though, since we won’t be able to talk today. Do you want to meet tomorrow?” Key asked as he felt Changjo run up beside him and grab his hand again.

“Appa! Why did you run?!” Changjo exclaimed before he saw who his father was talking to. He had completely forgotten about Ricky and Himchan. “Oh hey guys,” Changjo said as he tightened his grip slightly on Key’s hand. Key didn’t mind though, because he knew that it was his fault that Changjo was acting this way. Himchan couldn’t help but chuckle, however, at how childish Changjo, the rudest boy he knew, was acting.

“Don’t worry about it hyung. I’ll be fine. You should worry about Changjo first,” Himchan said as he laughed again. Key nodded and turned his head to look at Changjo.

            “You ready to go home?”

“Yes! Let’s go!” He exclaimed like a little kid that was tired of following their mom shopping all day.

“Ok, ok. Text or call me whenever Himchan-ssi.”

            “I will. Thanks again hyung.”

Key took a tighter grip on Changjo’s hand and let him lead them to Jonghyun’s car. Jonghyun had gone ahead of them to the car to warm it up and waited for both of them to arrive. When they did Key got in on the passenger’s side, with difficulty because Changjo didn’t want to let go of his hand, but eventually he did let go.

“So where are we going?” Jonghyun asked as he pulled out of the parking lot and stopped in front of a red light. Key quickly gave him the directions and in less than three minutes they arrived in front of Insoo’s apartment building.

“Did you seriously buy an apartment just to leave us?” Jonghyun asked, almost outraged that Key wanted to get away from them that bad.

“No stupid. First off that costs money, secondly you would probably be able to track down where I paid the check to, and thirdly that costs money!”

“So basically, it’s because you’re cheap, since you know I don’t have access to your personal bank account.”

Key laughed as he came to Insoo’s apartment door, getting his key out to unlock it. “Oh yea, I forgot,” he said still chuckling to himself. The all went inside, took off their shoes, and Key led Jonghyun and Changjo to the couch so they could sit while he got his stuff.

As he walked to his bedroom, he heard the shower running, telling him that Insoo was in the shower. He didn’t want to leave without thanking Insoo for helping him and saying bye, but he didn’t want to stay for too much longer; since he figured Jonghyun and Changjo probably wanted to go home soon. Key decided to just start packing for now and if anything he would leave a note and thank him in person later.

While he was packing, he heard the shower cut off and was glad, since now he wouldn’t have to leave a note. Key put the last small items in his bag and zipped it up, feeling somewhat happy that he was going back home.

“I don’t even know why I thought leaving was a good idea in the first place,” he thought out loud to himself.

“Key? You’re back.” Key heard as he felt damp arms wrapping around his midsection. “And you’re packing…Are you going somewhere?” Insoo asked and Key turned around while still in his arms and gave him a hug.

“Thank you Insoo really, for helping me out and letting me stay here, but I think it’s time for me to go home.”

“Home? I thought you and Jonghyun weren’t getting along,” Insoo said, trying to figure out what was going on. He thought this was his chance to finally win Key back, but it seemed as if his chance was leaving right in front of his eyes.

“Jonghyun is fine, it was really just me. I was acting without thinking, which ended up causing my family pain. So I think it’s time for me to go home now,” Key said as he placed his hands on Insoo’s forearms and started to lower his arms of his body. Insoo didn’t want to let Key go though, so he tightened his grip and pulled Key closer to his still slightly damp, half- body as he rested his head on Key’s shoulder.

“I don’t want you to go Key. I want you to stay with me,” he said into his ear

Key let out a small laugh, figuring that Insoo was only saying that because he would be lonely. “Don’t worry, I’ll visit often so you won’t be too lonely,” Key said as he chuckled and patted Insoo on the back. Insoo lifted his head off of Key’s shoulder and looked him in the eyes as he put his hands on either side of his face.

            “Insoo..?”

“I don’t think you understand Key. I love you and I want you to stay with me.” Key’s eyes went wide and he didn’t get a chance to respond before he felt Insoo’s lips on top of his own. Key’s hands clenched tighter as he prepared himself to push Insoo off of him, but as he started to fight, Insoo simply tightened his hold. Key continued to struggle against him and was getting ready to kick him when the sound of someone clearing their throat was heard coming from the doorway.

“Sorry to interrupt, but Changjo and I are tired and would like to go home sometime tonight,” Jonghyun said as he stared at the scene in front, trying his hardest to not go in there are punch Insoo in the face. He didn’t want Changjo to see what was going on, so he wasn’t going to make a scene about it.

Key was finally able to pull himself out of Insoo’s grasp and once he did, he picked up his bag and left the room; avoiding Jonghyun’s harsh glare. He knew that Jonghyun was going to bring this up when they got home, but he still wished that he would have never saw it. As soon as Key was out of the room, Jonghyun turned his gaze back to Insoo as he approached the older man.

“I don’t know what that was that I just saw but,” Jonghyun stopped speaking as he stood right in front of Insoo.  “I will let you know right now that, that will be the last time you ever touch my husband like that again,” Jonghyun said as he stared Insoo down. Insoo might have been taller than him and maybe even stronger but, that wasn’t going to stop Jonghyun from protecting what was his.

“Well that all depends on Key,” Insoo said as Jonghyun started to walk away, figuring that the conversation was over. “I mean, if he doesn’t mind me hugging him, cuddling with him, or kissing him, who are you to get in the way. You weren’t with him for a whole week and he was leaving with me, who knows, maybe his feelings have changed. It was you he ran away from, not me.”

“I was also the one he chose when he dumped you,” Jonghyun said as he kept his back to Insoo.

“People make wrong choices all the time.” That was the last thing Insoo said, or more like the last thing Jonghyun heard as he walked away.

“Appa, what took you so long? Key appa and I were about to leave you,” Changjo whined his crankiness coming through. Jonghyun couldn’t understand why Changjo was so tired though, since it was barely 10 o’clock, but he decided not to question it.

“Sorry Changjo, I was just talking to Insoo hyung. We can leave now.”

“Finally! Let’s go Key appa,” Changjo said with a smile on his face as he took Key’s hand into his and they all headed out of the apartment. The ride home was mostly silent, except for Changjo speaking up every now and then. Other than his voice all that was heard was the sound of the engine as Jonghyun drove them home.

Once they reached their house, they all piled out of the car and headed inside. Changjo, even though tired, was the only one with a smile on his face.

“I’m so happy you’re finally home appa,” he said as he took of his shoes and headed for the kitchen to get a drink of water.

“It’s good to be home too, Changjo. I’m sorry for leaving, I won’t do it again.”

            “Do you promise?”

Key stuck out his pinky and Changjo took it in his as they hooked their fingers and pressed their thumbs together. “Promise,” Key said and that was all Changjo needed to hear for him to sleep peacefully that night. He gave Key one final hug before saying goodnight, to both of his appas, and heading to his room; leaving Jonghyun and Key alone. Key figured that now was as good a time as ever, to address what Jonghyun saw at Insoo’s apartment.

            “Jonghyun…”

“I’m going to go shower,” Jonghyun said, cutting Key off and heading to their bedroom. Key let out a soft sigh; happy that he got more time to think over what he was going to say, but upset about the fact that Jonghyun was clearly avoiding him.

He went into their bedroom and decided that he might as well shower too. So he used the bathroom in the hallway, while Jonghyun was in theirs. When he was done, he came back into the room and saw that Jonghyun was already in the bed, looking at his phone. Key went over to his dressing table to apply moisturizer to his face before heading over to the bed. After he got under the comforter, Jonghyun still didn’t say anything, so Key decided it was up to him to speak up.

            “Jonghyun, about earlier…”

Jonghyun cut him off by sighing loudly before finally speaking to Key. “I just want to know one thing; did you sleep with him?”

Key’s eyes went wide and he almost couldn’t comprehend what Jonghyun had just asked. “W-What? Jonghyun, why would you think that…”

“Key,” Jonghyun said sternly, tired and not feeling like listening to Key make up excuses if he really did have with Insoo, “Just answer the question. Did you or did you not have with Insoo?”

“Of course I didn’t!” Key exclaimed becoming slightly upset by the accusation. Yes, Jonghyun saw Insoo kissing him, but why would he think that he would cheat so easily on him like that.

“Did you do anything with him?”

            “Jonghyun what happened earlier…”

“Key, please just tell me that you didn’t actually cheat on me with that !” Jonghyun raised his voice, slowly losing his patience, not because he was upset with Key but because he was upset with himself for being so jealous. Jonghyun knew that Key wouldn’t cheat on him; at least he hoped he wouldn’t, but Insoo’s voice kept ringing in his head.

Key let out a small sigh before placing his hands on either side of Jonghyun’s face and placing a kiss on his lips. It was a small kiss, but he felt like Jonghyun needed it.

“Jonghyun, I have not cheated on you ever. Ok?”

Jonghyun smiled back at Key as his worries were washed away and he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at how possessive he probably sounded.  “You know that’s a lie Key, what about Onew?” He said laughing a little bit. He was no longer upset about what happened between Key and his brother in the past, but he still loved teasing Key about it because it always made him flustered.

“I have never cheated on you since we got married!” Key quickly rushed out. Jonghyun laughed again and put his arms around of Key, pulling him into a hug.

“I know and I’m sorry. It’s just I saw that kiss and Insoo kept saying stupid .”

Key pulled away from Jonghyun slightly so that they could face each other. “What do you mean he was saying ‘stupid ’? Like what?”

“Basically insinuating that you and he had did together. I knew he was just making stuff up.”

“Obviously you didn’t because you still asked me if I cheated.”

“Well it’s always good to confirm right?”

“Yea, yea. Whatever. Anyway, I’m sorry about everything. I shouldn’t have run away like I did. At the time I thought I was doing what was best for you guys, but obviously I wasn’t,” Key said as he settled into Jonghyun’s arms as they both lay on the bed. He would be lying if he said that he didn’t miss the feeling of falling asleep in Jonghyun arms or even just next to him, for the last week.

“Just promise me that you won’t ever leave like that again. Please, if anything’s bothering you, I would be happier if you just came to me and talked to me about it.”

“What if you’re the one bothering me?” Key teased, but Jonghyun tensed up slightly before running one of his hands through Key’s hair.

“Was I the reason you left?” he asked. He had thought about it many times during that past week that he was the reason Key ultimately decided to leave, but he kept hoping that he wasn’t. Key was able to sense the slight hint of apprehension in Jonghyun’s voice, so he figured that now really wasn’t the time to be teasing him.

“No Jjong, you were not the reason I left. It had nothing to do with you or Changjo; it was all about what was going through my mind. I’m sorry for worrying both of you this past week though.”

Jonghyun continued to run his fingers through Key’s hair as he relaxed again. “I missed hearing you call me Jjong.”

“Is that all you missed about me?” Key said to himself that he wasn’t going to tease Jonghyun, but it was in his nature to naturally to .

“Of course not. I missed you cooking and cleaning…”

“Wow, maybe what you really want is a maid and not a husband.”

Jonghyun tightened his hold on Key, before laying him on his back and rolling his body on top of Key’s. “I also missed this,” he said as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to Key’s lips, “I won’t be able to do this with a maid.”

“Nope, you’re only allowed to do this with me,” Key said as he leaned up to kiss him again. Jonghyun took that as a green light and slowly led his hand up Key’s shirt, to only have it pushed back down.

“That’s all you get for tonight though,” he said as he rolled from under Jonghyun. Jonghyun looked at him in disbelief.

“Are you serious? I mean, shouldn’t we celebrate the fact that you’re back?”

“We could, you know if you actually kept this place clean.”

“What are you talking about? The house is clean.”

“Jjong are you being serious right now? It’s a show out there and I’m going to have to spend my whole day off tomorrow cleaning. Also I know I have to go grocery shopping, since you’ve probably been eating nothing but ramen.”

“Yah! I actually made dinner. We didn’t only eat ramen.” Jonghyun defended himself, even though they did eat ramen most of the time.

“Alright, alright. Anyway point is, I have a lot of work to do tomorrow and it would be a lot easier to do if I could walk properly.”

“Ok, how about we do this,” Jonghyun started off, trying to compromise with Key, but Key already knew what he was going to say.

            “I’m not blowing you Jjong.”

            “Wha…Ok how about a hand-job?”

“You have a hand; you can do it on your own. I’m going to bed, night,” Key said as he turned off his bedside lamp. Jonghyun couldn’t believe that Key really didn’t want to do it after being deprived for a week like he did, but he also knew that the conversation was over. So after letting out a disappointed sigh, he turned out his light as well, before moving over to cuddle with Key.

“I can at least hold you while we sleep right?”

Key placed his hand over Jonghyun’s that was over his midsection before saying “I would like that.”

Chapter 66: Author-ssi. Wow.. It's been a long time and I didn't know how many chapters I missed till now. Hope you've been well! I seem to be out of the loop about the chapter you deleted so I hope I understand things okay. Either way I've missed you~

Changjo. I think it's mad disrespectful that you didn't say anything about your biological parents. It's your life but they were a ginormous part of it and you at least owe them honesty as well as respect when regarding your choices. Also you need check your boyfriend. I'm sure if he didn't act so rude around them they'd be more inclined to you dating...

Yongguk. You make me mad like 95% percent of the time. Even if they bother you. Even if they hassle you and don't approve of you. You should still be the bigger person. They're parents only looking out for thier children whether it be in the right way or not. You should be groveling for thier forgiveness or at the least respectful... not being a patronizing . I know you can do it. I know you think it. Just show it to them.

Jongkey. Y'all cute. I've missed you so. I almost feel nostalgic when you guys come around. It's been a long ride.

Ricky. Maybe Ricky should learn how to be Ricky by himself. You still got a lot of growing to do baby.. Don't make any rash decisions.

Seungho. SO IM HELLA CONFUSED. Swear you liked home at one point.. And now I'm upset cause you'd be so good to him. To anyone. Actually lets just get married. You deserve the noble prize loyalty.

Author-ssi again. Don't worry about updating. As you can tell I've been here for years and I'll be here for plenty more just to see how this series ends. Congrats on any and all good things that may have happend to you! Most of all thank you for always coming back.

Chapter 66: im kind of disappointed at yongguk because he practically forced changjo in having AGAIN. from how you wrote it, it was obvious he wasn't ready and he had to just stick it in. i wonder if changjo is mad about this or if he will let it slide and start having lots of with yongguk. from his last chapter it seems like he's insecure about having fully. also, it doesn't matter if it's necessary to bring up, but changjo should have told both his fathers that he is connecting with his biological parents. i think it's disrespectful to leave them out of the picture about that and then having to hear it from someone else. also, how did his father even find him? did his mother tell him? i wonder when/how that happened. im assuming she kept in contact with her ex, but still it seemed like he didn't want to keep in touch with her because of his life. just seems off.

Chapter 65: oh my god yesss! i've been a loyal reader and never commented. also....when is changjo going to tell his father's that he's been seeing his biological parents....especially his biological father? although he has the right to see his biological parents...i feel iike he's doing it behind his jongkey's back. I think they have the right to know if changjo is going to have a relationship with his biological parents...especially if one of them is going to try and force changjo into taking over his company. i have this feeling key will be very upset and get emotional/depressed just like he did previously due to his insecurity of changjo leaving him.
