Kai’s POV~

“Eunjae!” I shouted as I ran up to her, barely managing to catch her out the door. I stood in front of her and bent over as my hands rested on my knees, giving me a second to re-catch my breath.

“Number.” I managed to pant out. I just got out of gym and I needed to make sure I got Eunjae’s number. Hey, I have a lot of homework to do today and since we have nearly the same teachers and classes, why not “help” each other out?

She looked down at me and I saw her look of confusion. I cleared my statement up and took out my phone, seeing as the halls were clear of any students.

“Can I have your number?” I asked holding out my phone to her, giving her a wink. I saw the blush creeping to her face and we exchanged numbers. I shut my phone back into my pocket and walked side by side with Eunjae. I realized that she was wearing her gym clothes and asked,

“What happened to your uniform?” She seemed to ponder on her thoughts before telling me she just didn’t feel like changing after gym.

What, are you that self-conscience about yourself or something?

I didn’t say anything back and she turned to face me. She had a belittling look written upon her face and I stopped so we were facing one another. There was a faint moment of silence before she finally spoke up,

“Ne Kai-oppa, are you embarrassed to be seen with me? Is that why you want to keep me hidden from your friends?”

Crap. Looks like I’ve underestimated her, she’s not all that stupid when it comes to people.

I needed to cover this up and I pulled her into an embrace, focusing all my fake emotions into my words as I lied,

“No of course not Eunjae. I just wanna keep you a secret so all this drama won’t come towards you. But how about I make a promise?” I pulled her back and held out my pinky and said,

“I promise you’ll meet my friends today, arasso?” Her eyes lit up at the thought. But after a few seconds; shock and horror was written all over her face as she said,

“But I’m still a stranger to them. Won’t it just be awkward?”

God there’s no pleasing this one.

I thought for a minute and then came up with a brilliant idea. EXO-K already knows my plan about using Eunjae, so it won’t shock them if they saw us holding hands or some other bull . But I don’t wanna go out somewhere public, knowing there’s a chance someone from school will spot us.

And then it hit me. I smiled at her and took both of her hands into mine as I said,

“I can drop you off to your house after school along with the EXO-K members, my friends. Don’t say no!” We’d all be hidden behind the tinted black windows and no one would really spot us. Eunjae will think that she’s going to befriend them and we’ll all play along. Everything will all work out.

She seemed troubled by this and she was about to say something when the bell cut her off, signaling the end of school. I quickly grabbed her by the hand, trying to weave my way through the crowd before anyone really takes a good look at us, and dragged her outside to the parking lot.

“Come on let’s go surprise them!” I yelled behind, half-dragging her with her feet continuously tripped over one another.

Tao’s POV~

I was at my locker and I already had all of my things, ready to go when I noticed Eunjae’s missing presence. The halls were already cleared and I decided to check into her classes, wondering if she’s being held behind.

I went into her class one by one and didn’t see anyone in there aside from some teachers. I walked back to her locker and still; nothing.

“Where is she?” I muttered under my breath, panic already setting in.

Oh god is she in trouble?

I was about to run out the door when my phone startled me by its loud ringtone. I opened it and its screen lit up, showing me I had one new text message.

To: Tao

Mianhe, I got dragged away by Kai. He’s giving me a ride home >_< I’ll see you then!

~Eunjae

I shut my phone, angered and a bit hurt by this. I wasn’t expecting an invitation but this was already the second time she’s done this without an earlier notice. I sighed out loud, knowing this will probably be a common thing, seeing as her boyfriend will be a big part of her life now.

I walked out the door and headed toward the bus, looking out at the parking lot and only seeing some limousines still parked out.

I wonder when I’ll finally meet this Kai person. Is he one of those spoiled rich kids?

I shook the thought away, hoping that my senses were wrong and praying that Eunjae has a good judgment of people and their character.

Eunjae’s POV~

The school was nearly empty and it was me, Kai, and most of the EXO-K members sitting in the limousine that still hasn’t left. I sat uncomfortably in the leather seating and could only stare at my hands as my feet pointing inwards, a bad habit I developed. I looked around and was in awe at all the technology and luxuries this car held. There were two mini fridges that Kai showed me; one holding snacks and food while the other held a variety of cold drinks. There were also some TV’s lining the walls and some of the members flipped through the HD screens in boredom, channel surfing.

“So you’re Eunjae? Kai’s told us a lot about you.” The handsome guy, Se Hun, said as he tilted his head to the side causing his chestnut brown hair to sweep across his forehead. I looked over at Kai and he shrugged, giving me a sheepish smile.

I nodded in response to Se Hun’s question when Baek Hyun suddenly bounced in his seat and whined,

“Where’s Suho-hyung? I wanna get this car moving already!” I gave him a small smile, amazed at how he can act so child-like even though he was far older than me. He reminded me a little of one of the toddlers I’d play with every now and then.

After a few minutes the last EXO-K member came in, the car’s engine roared to life, and we drove off school grounds and headed down the streets.

“Oh where do you live Eunjae?” Chanyeol asked as the driver peered back at us through his rear-view mirror, waiting for the directions.

“Chun Cheon.” I reply as D.O whistles in amazement. He leaned back against the leather interior and asked,

“Isn’t that like an hour drive from Seoul?” I nod, remembering that even if Tao owned a car we’d end up going bankrupt through all the gas we’d have to buy and use. So we settle for a long subway and several bus rides instead, quite happy with each other’s company.

“Man Eunjae, I give you props for getting up so early. Kai can barely wake up for school even though he lives only a couple blocks down.” D.O teases, elbowing Kai in the ribs. The other members chuckle in agreement, some even pretending to snore as if they were asleep. Kai pouts cutely and retaliates,

“Not true! I live farther than a few blocks and I can wake up well on my own thank-you-very-much.” I couldn’t help but giggle at the two; they seemed almost like brothers seeing as how comfortable they are with one another.

Once I looked at all of the members, it seemed as if they all were like a big family. I couldn’t help but smile and think about Miss Kwon and the little ones probably running around with Tao.

---------

The long car drove up onto the rocky and bumpy pavement and before it even came to a safe stop, I jumped out of the car and bounced onto the dirt road.

“Woah slow down there, didn’t even give me a chance to say goodbye.” Kai said chuckling as he got out himself. The rest of the EXO-K members waved good bye to me and I waved back shyly. They were all so kind to me and I got to know them, but it was still a tad bit awkward seeing as this was our first encounter.

Kai gave me a brief hug and said,

“Goodnight.” Just as he was about to step back inside the car, all the little ones came running out shouting my name.

“Eunjae-unnie!”

“Eunjae-noona!” I turned at the sound of their innocent voices and had my arms wide open as they all ran into me. I managed to stand and not fall over as all of their attention turned to Kai. I looked back and saw Kai waving and smiling at them all. One of the younger ones tugged at the hem of my shirt as she boldly asked,

“Ne oppa, are you a prince? Did you choose Eunjae-unnie as your princess?”

I blushed at her questions and tried to usher them away. I looked back and gave Kai an apologetic look as we walked up to the front porch.

I waved back as the limousine drove out of the area and was far away. The fancy car seemed so out of place in this area that was so plain and natural. It stuck out like a sore-thumb all right but it was a nice change of things.

“Was that the Kai you told me about?” I almost jumped out of my shoes when I heard Tao’s voice right next to me. I still don’t understand how he can move so silently to a point where I don’t even realize his presence. I swear I think he’d make an awesome ninja one day. (A/N: Oh Eunjae -facepalm-)

I nod in reply and he has an unreadable look written upon his face. He was eyeing the limousine that has just vanished from view before walking inside, not even saying a word.

I followed him behind wondering,

Do they know each other?

Just as I stepped inside and took off my shoes, my phone beeped and its screen lit up to show one new text message.

To: Eunjae

So I’m a prince now? Either way I’m glad to have a princess ;)

~Kai

Kai’s POV~

“Well aren’t you a sly fox.” D.O said peering over my shoulder at my sent text message. I smirked and punched his shoulder replying,

“Gotta keep her into me.” Suho rolled his eyes and cocked his head to the side,

“Did you even see how she was head over heels in love with you? Let me tell you Kai, you have little Miss four-eyes wrapped around your finger.”

“I bet she’d be great in bed.” D.O smirked, wiggling his eye brows at his naughty thoughts. I only scoffed and replied,

“I doubt it. She’s no doubt a if not Saint Mary.”

“It’s always the quiet ones that are the freaky ones.” Chan Yeol said matter-of-factly. I looked over to Se Hun and Baek Hyun as they stared out the window, not even trying to join the conversation. It’s almost as if they wanted no part of this.

“What’s your opinion Se Hun?” I asked the hyung, curious as to his opinion. He sighed out loud. He never was one who supported my ways but nonetheless, he was an ally and family friend.

“I’m kind of worried for the girl. Think about how high you're setting her hopes, only to have them crushed by the time you graduate.” Leave it to Se Hun to be the kill-joy. I brushed off his remark and looked over at Baek Hyun, wanting to hear his opinion. He fidgeted in his seat as he said,

“I agree with Se Hun, she’s a pretty good person I mean did you see how easily all those kids came running up to her? Says a lot. Are you sure she’s worth all of this?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing from the two and waved a hand at them, deciding that their words of advice are no good.

I wasn’t gonna let such a treasure slip through my hands, not when I need her gift to help me out. Besides, it’s only this year and as soon as I get my diploma, she’ll be out of my hair. Sure she might have a broken heart, but she’ll get over it.

I remembered the little kids poking and touching my car with their sticky fingers in awe of its beauty. I coughed to clear my throat and told the driver,

“Make sure you wash the car when we get home.”

Tao’s POV~

I came into the house a few minutes before Eunjae. You’d think that since I took public transportation I’d be home later but it was in fact the other way around. I just changed into more comfortable attire when the kids stared out the window and shouted,

“Eunjae-noona’s here!” I swear if only you saw how much they all loved her you’d believe she was their mother.

She’d make a great mom nonetheless.

They all eagerly ran outside to the front of the house and I walked slowly behind. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the white limousine and the guy who stepped out of it right after Eunjae.

Kim Kai.

They were gathering around the lunchroom doors, chuckling at whatever was going on inside.

“Come on Kai, isn’t this your chance to be the knight in shining armor and save that nerd? What was her name again, Eunmi?”

The guy I assumed to be Kai replied,

“Nah, let them have some fun with Eunjae.”

My jaw clenched at the bitter memory. It’s that Kai. I didn’t bother moving from my spot as I stared out the window at the two. The kids ran up to Eunjae as she greeted them with open arms. They all looked at Kai and for whatever reason; Eunjae blushed a bright shade of red as she tried to push them back inside.

“Now what have we got here?” Miss Kwon came up putting her hand on top of my shoulder. She squinted her eyes seeing as her glasses weren’t nearby and her eye sight was less than perfect. She was quite surprised to see a guy, let alone a limo, standing in front of the door waving at Eunjae.

I clenched my fists, wondering what he was doing here. He left a bad first impression as he ignored Eunjae when she was in need of help, and laughed as he walked away along with the other cocky rich kid.

“Why isn’t he quite handsome?” She complimented, scratching her chin. She looked at me and then gave a pitying smile.

“I see that you don’t seem to think so.” And she walked off, returning to her bedroom to clear out any old stuff. The limo began to drive away and the kdis walked inside, chatting about the prince in his long white car.

I walked over to Eunjae and wanted to hold onto that thin string of hope, wishing that my instinct was wrong when I asked her,

“Was that the Kai you told me about?” She turned to look at me and nodded and I knew I was defeated. I stared at the car driving farther and farther away, waiting for the sight of it to leave. So many raging emotions boiled inside of me at the time, creating a chaotic hurricane inside of me. I turned back around and decided to go back to my room. I shut the door behind me and slid down the flat surface, its cool mahogany calming me just the slightest bit.

I couldn’t help but comb my fingers through my hair in stress as I wondered to myself,

Eunjae, how did you fall for someone so easily? Someone who’s hiding behind a mask?

Chapter 52: I finished reading this really quick. I knew Eunjae and Tao would end up together. But I felt like the part with Kai seems left out, his father wanting him to be better. Kai is a jerk but you almost make him seem redeemable with the way he always have to be the perfect guy with good grades.
Also I don't know why I'm thinking that even if Eunjae is younger, it would have been a funny twist if Kai's sister who ran away was her.
