Chapter 7: She can’t be our composer!

Youngmin’s POV:

I’m here at Starship Entertainment with the guys rehearsing our new song “Love Style”. But, when I saw the name of the person that composed this song I couldn’t believe it. It says: “Music and Letter by Yoon Gaein.

That’s the name of Bora’s dongsaeng, but it can’t be, right? Bora’s dongsaeng can’t be Starship’s composer.

*Flashback*

I saw Chunji hyung walking on the corridor with a pretty girl.

-      Chunji hyung annyeong! –I said greeting him.

-      Oh! Annyeong Youngmin-ah! –He said smiling.

-      What are you doing here? – I asked him.

-      I came here to accompany my cousin. She’s Starship’s composer and also our composer. –He said putting his arm around the girl next to him. My heart started beating so fast when I saw her. She’s very beautiful, cute and feminine. But what made me gulped were her beautiful big brown eyes that looked at me shyly.

-      Oh! Chinja? In that case. You have done a great job. I love all the songs you have composed for us. –I said smiling trying not to be obvious. –By the way, what’s your name?

-      I’m Gaein. –she bowed shyly. Aigoo, she’s so pretty and cute.

-      Nice to meet you Gaein.  My name is Jo Youngmin. I’m a member from Boyfriend. –I said also bowing.

-      Well, it was nice to see you Youngmin-ah. See you later. –Chunji said and continued walking with her.

*End of flashback*

At first I thought that the name was just a coincidence, but now I see is the same person. But then, Chunji and Gaein would be relatives, right?

There’s something fishy here. I’m sure that Bora Noona said that the only relatives that she had were her dongsaeng and her grandma. Maybe Starship just changed of composer that’s all.

-      Gaein noona is the best composer in the world, right? –Minwoo said smiling.

-      Yes, she is. –I told him smiling back. –By the way, is she our new composer? –I asked him

-      What are you talking about? She has always been our composer. She’s a very famous composer. She even composed to Shinee sunbaenims! –Minwoo said with brightened eyes as a Shawol he is.

-      Wow! I didn’t know that… -I said surprised.

We returned to our dorm and she was at the piano room, composing, I guess.

-      Have you had dinner? –I asked, making her jump a little.

-      You scared me. –She said widening her eyes.

-      I’m sorry. –I said. I paused for a moment and then continued. – I didn’t know that you and Chunji were relatives. –I said and she looked at me shocked.

-      Actually, we’re not. –She said looking down.

-      Really? Because I remember when he introduced us he said he was your cousin. –I said.

-      Well, he said that because he’s a friend of the family. So he’s really close to me. That’s why he said it. – she said nervous.

-      Oh I see… -I said. –well, I’m tired, I’m going to sleep. Good night. –I said yawning.

I put my pajamas on and lay on my bed. I can’t believe she’s the same girl. What happened to her? I still remember my heart pounding the first time we met. It was love at first sight, well… at least that’s what I thought.

*Flashback*

I saw Chunji hyung chatting with his friends. I walked toward him and greeted him.

-      Chunji hyung annyeong! –I said smiling.

-      Oh! Annyeong Youngmin-ah. –he said smiling.

-      Mmmm… I was wondering if I could talk to you privately. –I said with a quiet voice.

-      Yeah, of course, what’s going on? –he said drawing me away.

-      Well, it’s just that I would like to ask your help for something. –I said nervous and took a deep breath. –You remember that you introduced me your cousin at my entertainment, right? Well, I really liked her and I wanted to ask you if you could help me to go out with her. –I said sweating.

-      What! No way! – He yelled at me.

-      But, hyung, I promise you I will take care of her. You know me. I’m a good and respectful guy. –I said nervous. He sighed and spoke again.

-      I’m sorry Youngmin, but she already has a boyfriend.

-      Oh…. Really? –I said disappointed. –who? –I said curious.

-      You don’t know him. He doesn’t study at this school. –he said with a poker face.

-      Oh… I see. –I sighed. –thank you anyway, hyung.-I said sad and walked away.

She already has a boyfriend. Of course she has a boyfriend. How a pretty cute girl like her could be single? Youngmin babo…

*End of flashback*

It’s 3 am and I can’t still sleep. I just keep thinking about her. And now, I’m hungry because I didn’t even have dinner. I’ll go to eat something to the kitchen.

I went downstairs and opened the fridge. I poured some milk in a cup and drank it. Then I saw someone was outside in the backyard.

I opened the sliding door. Gaein was there, crying again.

-      You can’t sleep either. –I said. She sobbed and looked at me. She wiped her tears immediately with her sleeves.

-      I just want to go home. –she said. I sat down next to her.

-      I know what you feel. When we moved here. Kwangmin and I secretly escape. We went home with our mom, she was happy to see us, but she punished us because we escaped. She told us that if our dream was being idols, this was one of the sacrifices we had to do for making our dream come true.

-      How do you do for not missing your home? –she rested her head on my shoulder.

-      Well, I still miss it. But when Kwangmin really really miss home he hugs his big teddy bear and I sing to him the lullaby that my mom used to sing to us. – I hugged her and sang her the song.

I woke up and watched the clock, it was 6 am. I got up from bed and took a shower.

I just don’t want to go to the school and see Chunji and Hyuna together again. It’s just too painful for me.

Now that I think about it, how did I come back to my room last night? I only remember that I was talking with Youngmin… wait, did Youngmin bring me here last night? OMG! This is so embarrassing.

I went downstairs and they were already having breakfast. I sat down shyly avoiding eye contact and started eating my breakfast.

-      Good morning Gaein, did you sleep well? –Donghyun said. I just nodded.

-      Noona, our comeback will be in two days. Do you want to come with us? –Minwoo asked me.

-      I would like but I have work to do. –I said still with my eyes focused on my food.

-      C’mon come with us! It’s just for a couple hours. You’ll have fun. –Jeongmin said.

-      Ok, I guess I’ll go. –I said.

-      Yay! You have to cheer us noona! We’ll do our best! –Minwoo said excited.

-      Hurry up guys or you’re going to be late for school.

-      Yes, hyung. –they said in unison and we stood up.

We took our school bags and Donghyun drove to the school.

When we arrived I walked quickly to my locker avoiding Youngmin because I feel so embarrassed of what happened yesterday. I rested my head on his shoulder, like, why in the world I did that!

Suddenly, I bumped with someone. I was going to say “I’m sorry” till I saw who was. Yes, Hyuna, the one who said to be my “best friend”. She looked at me from head to toe and smirked.

I just moved and walked away from her. I feel betrayed by her, and I also feel stupid for believing in her when Niel told me she was a . And he was right.

I stood in front of my locker and saw something stuck on it:

A PICTURE OF HYUNA KISSING CHUNJI’S CHEEK AND HE WAS SMILING.

I just stayed there frozen looking at the picture of the “perfect couple” I couldn’t breathe and I didn’t feel my legs.

I remembered that picture that we took together. It was just the same. It was me kissing Chunji’s cheek while he was smiling.

I felt pain in my heart when I saw that now Hyuna is the one in the picture and not me. I just couldn’t stand it anymore and ran away to the rooftop crying.
