Chapter 10: You’re not free yet..

Chunji’s POV:

-      Anyway, who are you to interfere in our conversation? - I said raising a brow.

-      I’m her boyfriend. –he said and held her hand.

I can’t believe what I just heard. She’s Youngmin’s girlfriend. It can’t be…

-      But… -I said shocked. –Is it true? Is he your boyfriend? –I told her with the hope that she told me it was a lie. They looked at each other and Youngmin smiled at her. Then she turned to me.

-      Yes Chunji, he’s my boyfriend. –she said. My heart ached when I heard it from . I just wish this were a nightmare.

-      So, it’s true… -I said looking away trying to hold my tears. I closed my eyes and tried to smile. –Then, congratulations. You’re a sweet couple. –I said faking a smile and walked away.

Tears started flowing through my eyes. I started running in the hall, but my legs were trembling until I collapsed and fell on the floor. I put my back against the wall and cried hiding my head on my knees.

-      Hyung, are you ok? –I heard Ricky’s voice. I didn’t reply. –Manager hyung, told me that he needs to talk with you. –Ricky said. I sighed and closed my eyes.

-      Where is him? –I asked Ricky raising my head.

-      He’s at our dressing room. –he said looking at me worried.

-      I’ll talk with him then. –I said standing up.

-      Hyung, did something happen to you? –he said putting his hand on my shoulder.

-      No, I’m fine. –I said and walked to our dressing room.

I opened the door and saw Hyuna sitting on the couch. I rolled my eyes and glared at her.

-      What are you doing here? –I said upset.

-      I’m just supporting my boyfriend, that’s all. –Hyuna said looking at her nails. I just want to punch her face, really.

-      I already told you that you’re not my girlfriend anymore, so please GET OUT OF HERE! –I mouthed clearly, so her little brain could understand what I said.

-      What did you just say Chunji? –Manager hyung said.

-      Hyung, maybe this is not the moment but I want to tell you that Hyuna and I are not a couple anymore. –I said.

-      That’s exactly why Hyuna is here. I don’t care if you don’t want to have a relationship with each other, but in public, you can’t break up.

-      But, why? –I said complaining.

-      Because you are going to be seen as a playboy. I mean, you just were his boyfriend for two weeks and you the left her. I won’t let you ruin your reputation like that. I told you Chunji, that if you wanted to make public your relationship with her, you had to take the responsibilities it takes with. So I’m sorry, but you’re going to be in a relationship with her for at least six months in public. –Manager hyung said serious. What? I can’t believe this. I don’t want to be with her for six long months! I mean, how am I going to win Gaein ‘s heart again when I’m tied to this .

-      Did you understand Chunji? –Manager hyung said crossing his arms.

-      Yes, hyung. –I said looking down. I glared at Hyuna.

I just hate myself for getting in to this. What am I going to do now? Gaein already has a boyfriend and I’m stuck with the for six months.

-      Did you hear it? We’re still together. –Hyuna said smirking.

-      Just in public, because you know that between you and me there’s nothing anymore. - I told her and turned around.

-      I don’t care. At least you won’t run to that stupid girl again for six months. That’s enough for me, because you won’t have a chance to come back with her in six months. –She said. I stopped and made a fist with my right hand closing my eyes, trying to hold the pain I felt in my heart when I heard what she said.

-      Even then, I’ll fight for her no matter what right now. I know she will believe in me. I’ll repair the damage I did to her and start again. I’ll come back with her and you won’t stop me to do it.

Your POV:

I looked at Youngmin after Chunji left with a “Why did you say that?” look.

He let go of my hand and looked at me nervous. I just looked at him waiting for his answer.

-      Why did you say you were my boyfriend? –I asked him shocked.

-      It was the only way he could leave you alone. –he said trying to explain.

-      But, you’re not my boyfriend! –I told him upset.

-      Yes, of course I’m not your boyfriend, we’re barely friends. –he said rolling his eyes.

-      Then, why did you lie? –I asked him.

-      Because I thought you wanted him to leave you alone. I mean, he was bothering you. - He said. – And, I’m sure he needed to believe that you already forgot him, right?

-      Well… -I said thinking.

-      Listen to me. Chunji was confident before, because he knew that you still feel something for him and of course, he would use you when he needed it, because he would know how to take advantage of your feelings for him. But now, he knows that you can go on with your life, that you don’t need him to be happy. You’ll show him in that way that he lost.

-      And acting like if you are my boyfriend will help because… -I said sarcastically.

-       Because he will see you’re better without him. –he said smiling. I looked at him not sure of why I was doing this. –Do you want to prove him you can live without him or you want him to believe you’re lost without him in your life?

-      I want to prove him I’m better without him. –I said trying to believe what I was saying.

-      Then, just trust in me. –he said smiling sweetly.

-      Ok, I trust in you. –I said and sighed.

We came back to Boyfriend’s dressing room. Their manager called them because it was already their turn. I wished them good luck and watched their performance on the TV.

Their performance was awesome. They danced and sang very well. I liked the way their voices matched perfectly in every part of the song I composed for them. They looked so confident on stage, definitely, they have improved a lot.

-      Noona! How was our performance? –Minwoo asked drying his sweat with a towel.

-      It was perfect! I really liked it! Good job guys! –I said smiling. Honestly, their performance made me forgot for a while what just happened with Chunji. Youngmin smiled sweetly looking down. I wonder why he smiled in that way.

They changed their clothes and we came back to the dorm. Donghyun ordered pizza for celebrating their comeback stage.

We were eating the pizza and they were making some jokes. Bad thing, they weren’t funny because I was thinking in Chunji again. When I saw his eyes full of tears my heart ached and I felt very bad for making him feel that way.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Hyunseong immediately answered it.

-      Yeoboseyo? –he said. –How are you honey? How have you been? –he said excited. The other ones giggled teasing him. I looked at the phone and smiled. I really want to hear Unnie’s voice. I miss her so much.

-      You miss your Unnie, right? –Youngmin told me smiling. I just nodded in reply.

-      Yah! Hyung! She also wants to talk with Bora Noona. –Youngmin said.

-      Arasso. –Hyunseong said pouting and handed me the phone.

-      Hi! Unnie! How are you? –I said.

-      Hi! Dongsaenguie. I’m fine. I’ll be back in one week. How have you been in Boyfriend’s dorm? Did the guys take good care of you? –She said.

-      Yes, they have taken care of me. –I said. –I really miss you Unnie. –I said pouting.

-      I miss you too. But don’t worry I’ll come back soon, ok? Please be a good girl and take care. –She said in a caring tone.

-      Yes, Unnie. –I said smiling.

-      I have to go. Please say hello to the other guys for me. –Unnie said.

-      Yes, Unnie. Take care.

-      Bye!

-      Bye!

I hang up the phone and smiled. We finished eating and I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

Then I saw Youngmin standing in front of my room’s door.

-      What did noona say? –he asked me curious.

-      She said she’s coming back next week. –I said.

-      Really? That’s great!

-      Yes, I miss her so much. –I sighed.

-      You know? Today was a good day. –he said.

-      Because of Boyfriend’s comeback, right? –I said.

-      No. Because today… you smiled twice. -He said with a sweet smile.

-      What? –I said confused, trying to hide the nervousness in my voice.

-      I was thinking that maybe today, you could forget about Chunji at least for a while. –he said.

-      Yes, that’s right. Your performance and unnie’s news made me forget about Chunji at least for a while. –I said.

-      That’s good. Good night, Gaein. –he said smiling.

-      Good night Youngmin. –I said.
