Chapter 32: Another chance.

Youngmin’s POV:

“No, Youngmin. I have been thinking about it, we should break up. My feelings for you aren’t very clear and I… I think I still love Chunji… The only reason of why I was with you is because I wanted to fill the space that Chunji left. I wanted you to be like him. I tried to forget him with you but I couldn’t. Chunji is and will be my first and unique love, so please just go away and let us be happy…”

My eyes filled of tears. I had to be strong. She was lying, right? I needed to fight for her, I couldn’t leave her alone. She needed me, just like Chunji needed her, right?

“Gaein, please” I caressed her cheek. She pulled away my hand.

“This is over. Just leave…” she said holding back her tears. “I’m so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. I’m very sorry, really…” she said looking down.

I tried to find the right words. My heart was broken, but not because she was breaking up with me, but because she seemed so hurt.

“I’m just asking you to think about it again. I’ll respect your decision, but I want to tell you that I still love you and that I will be waiting for you...”

With that I went out of her apartment. I closed the door and collapsed on the floor crying, putting my knees on my chest.

“Gaein… why?” I sobbed.

I went to the dorm and cried on my bed all the night. Kwangmin was worried about me, but I couldn’t tell him what was going on. Finally, I fell asleep after crying for hours.

Your POV:

I woke up the next morning. My eyes were swollen from crying. I didn’t want to break up with Youngmin, but that was the only way I can keep Chunji happy and alive.

I took a shower and went downstairs. Unnie was waiting for me at the kitchen, but she didn’t look cheered up as always.

“Good morning Gaein” she said.

“Good morning”. I sat down and started eating my cereal.

“We need to talk…” Unnie said in a serious tone.  “About your conversation with Youngmin last night” I put down my spoon on the table.

“Did you hear us?” I asked upset.

“Yes, and I want to tell you that Youngmin is right. Gaein, you were seven when our parents died. They died in a car accident. I t was an accident! It wasn’t your fault” Unnie held my shoulders

“But think about it unnie, if I hadn’t told them to hurry up…”

“Gaein stop with that! It wasn’t your fault! A drunken person appeared on their way. There wasn’t anything we could avoid! Stop blaming yourself please…” Unnie burst out in tears and hugged me. I hugged her back crying.

“Gaein, please you need to understand that Umma and Appa still love you, wherever they are, and they want you to be happy” Unnie sobbed.

“I understand it, but I can’t avoid feeling guilty. Also, what I said last night, it was because I wanted Youngmin to stay away from me”

“Why?” unnie broke the hug and looked at me dismayed.

“Because Chunji tried to suicide because of me” I said looking down.

“What?” Unnie’s eyes widened. “Gaein, if there’s something that I don’t know, tell me now”

“Well… it’s a long story…” I looked away.

“Don’t worry, I have time”

“Okay, but don’t overreact please…”

“Gaein…” she glared at me crossing her arms.

“Well, about a year ago Chunji and I started dating and he asked me to be his girlfriend, but we kept our relationship on secret. Then, he… he cheated on me with Hyuna, and we broke up…” I explained to her slowly so she wouldn’t freak out, but it didn’t work, she freaked out.

“What? How did that happen? Why didn’t you tell me anything? With Hyuna? I thought she was your friend!” She exclaimed. I sighed.

“I thought that too. But after that, I met Youngmin and he helped me to get Chunji over. A few months later, Chunji asked me to come back with him and I told him that I couldn’t come back with him, so he tried to suicide… that’s practically what happened…”

“I can’t believe what you’re telling me” she muttered shocked.

“I have to go to the hospital to see Chunji. We’ll talk about this later…” I took my bag and walked out of my apartment.

Youngmin’s POV:

The doorbell rang interrupting my sleep. I opened my eyes and the sunlight shone over me. My head hurt and I was feeling a little dizzy. I grabbed my phone and looked at the hour 9:15 am.

I walked around the dorm, but no one was there. I think the guys left early for practice. I sighed and messed my hair. I was probably the most miserable person in the world.

I finally opened the door not caring about my messy look. My eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected visitor.

“She left you, right? I told you she was going to do that” Hyuna said ‘worried’.

“Why did you come here? To laugh at me or something?” I crossed my arms.

“No! I came here to cheer you up!” she showed me a plastic bag and smiled. “I’ll prepare your breakfast”

With that, she walked in my apartment without my permission and headed to the kitchen.

“I don’t like to see you so depressed. But don’t worry, we’ll get this over together”

We? What’s wrong with this girl? Well, I’ll let her stay because I’m too lazy for making my own breakfast. I sighed. I wish Gaein was the one that was making my breakfast. I smiled remembering her waking up by my side with her cute cheeks blushed. But then, I slapped back to reality feeling a hole in my heart.

“Here Oppa!” she smiled.

“I’m not your Oppa, I’m a year younger than you” I rolled my eyes and took a bit of my pancakes.

“But I want to call you Oppa” she said pouting.

“Whatever, now you already prepared my breakfast, leave.” I said coldly.

Yes, I know that sounds rude, but if you knew my past about girls, you wouldn’t say that. Before meeting Gaein I was a complete jerk, in a good way. I didn’t treat the girls that well, except my fans, because well, they are my fans. But when a girl asked me to go on a date or something like that I would always answer no in a cold manner.

But with Gaein was different, she was the first girl that was cold with me, and that was something that made me get so interested in her.

And again, thinking about Gaein. I should be trying to forget her, but that idea just doesn’t suit well in my head, I don’t want to do that.

“Oppa, please don’t do this to me. I’m just trying to make you forget about her”

“I don’t want to forget about her, because I won’t leave by her side like Chunji did, I’ll show her that I’m different”

Suddenly, the answer came to my mouth. Maybe Hyuna was useful for the first time in her life. I realized I can’t leave Gaein, at least not for now.

Hyuna picked up her stuff for leaving and I smiled victoriously. My phone rang and I picked it up.

“Youngmin, it’s me, Chunji. I need to talk to you, please come to the hospital”

I frowned confused. Why was Chunji calling me from all of sudden?

“Ok, I’ll go to the hospital” I said.

“Who was? Chunji?” Hyuna asked.

“Just leave ” I said and dragged her out of my apartment.

I changed my clothes and hurried to the hospital. Maybe something happened and that’s why he called me.

“Youngmin…” he said with a weak smile.

“Hi! What happened? Why did you call me?”

“Well, I want you to be the first one to know that I already recovered my memory. I remember everything…” he said looking down.

I stayed in silence. So, that’s the reason why he wanted to talk to me. But, why me? Why not Gaein?

“Why? Why did you trust Gaein to me? You even told me yesterday that I had to fight for her, even when you knew how much I have hurt her” he said confused.

“Because I’m still not sure of what Gaein wants. That day you tried to suicide, Gaein was very shocked. And then, this thought came to my mind: What if you were the one she really loved? What would happen if you died? How would she be happy? So, I decided that we both have to fight for her and let her decide. At the beginning, I was being selfish and wanted Gaein for myself, but now I know that I should let her decide. I don’t care if she chooses you or me, as long as she is happy, that’s enough for me” I smiled trying to hold back my tears.

“Wow! You really love Gaein, right? I never realized I was being so selfish and I never saw that… Gaein must be having a hard time because of me” he muttered.

“You and Gaein are very similar. You like to blame yourself for everything that happens. Don’t worry, Chunji. Let’s forget about the past and give our best to her, she will choose someone, but we have to be patient and let her decide” I patted his back.

“Yes, you’re right. I can win her back, right?” he smiled.

“Not, if I don’t let you do that” I smiled.

Suddenly, the door flew opened revealing my precious Gaein…

“Youngmin…” she said wide eyed.
