Chapter 17: Open your eyes!

Your POV:

I opened my eyes and looked around my room. Home, sweet home. I got up from my bed and rushed to the bathroom. I did my daily routine and went downstairs.

Unnie was in the kitchen cooking. I smelled the delicious food from far away.

-      Dongsaeng! –she said smiling.

-      It smells delicious Unnie. What are you making? –I asked her curious.

-      Fried eggs with bacon. –she said grinning holding the spatula.

-      Yummy! –I said rubbing my stomach sitting on the chair.

-      Here you have Gaeinnie. Enjoy your breakfast!

I know I’m not a kid anymore, but Unnie has been always like that. She still sees me like a little girl, and sometimes I like that, even when it’s weird, sometimes I still want her to treat me like a little girl.

I finished my breakfast and I went to the school. My apartment is near from school, so I went to the school walking.

Youngmin, Minwoo and Kwangmin were outside the school, maybe, waiting for me.

-      Noona! –Minwoo said waving his hand happily.

-      Annyeong! –I said smiling waving back.

-      Hey! Did you do the math homework? –Kwangmin asked me.

-      Of course. –I said.

-      What math homework? –Minwoo asked puzzled.

-      Minwoo, don’t tell me you didn’t do the homework. –Youngmin said raising a brow.

-      Hmmm… I forgot about it! –Minwoo said freaking out.

-      Don’t worry. You can copy mine, but only for this time. Next time, be sure to write down all the homework, ok? –Youngmin said handing him his homework.

-      Thanks! You just saved my life! –Minwoo said hugging him tightly.

-      Minwoo… I - can’t- breathe. -Youngmin said without breath. I chuckled a little.

-      Oh! Sorry! –Minwoo said and smiled.

I heard a lot of bad comments about me, but I tried to ignore them, like if these girls could depress me more than what I am right now.

We walked together to our classroom. We all had Music class together.

After the first period, Youngmin and I were walking together in the hallway.

-      What class do you have next? –he asked me.

-      Mmm… History? –I said thinking.

-      Oh! I have Chemistry. –He said pouting. –Anyway, I can walk with you to your class and then I can go to my class. –he said smiling sweetly.

-      It’s not necessary. I can go to my class alone. –I said looking down.

-      It’s not that. I just want to keep you safe from all those fan girls. – He said whispering.

-      Oh! Ok… -I said still looking down.

We walked to my class and he waved at me smiling. I went in the classroom and took my seat.

History class as always is so boring. I just sat there pretending that I was listening to the teacher till the class finished. I stood up from my seat, but suddenly some girls, maybe queenkas… I don’t know, surrounded me.

I looked at them puzzled. What do they want? I haven’t done anything to them. They glared at me.

-      So, you are Youngmin’s girlfriend, right? –One of them, the leader I guess, smirked.

-      I still don’t get how Youngmin Oppa could have fallen for you. –other one said chewing gum. I just bowed my head a little nervously and tried to walk away, but they blocked me.

-      Where are you going sweetie? Do you think you are that good enough for being with Youngmin Oppa? C’mon look at you, you are not even tall. – I just looked down.

-      Stay away from her right now! –Someone said. The girls looked up. I couldn’t see who was because the girls are too tall.

-      Chunji Oppa! –the girls said shocked. When I heard his name my eyes widened. He moved the girls away and looked at me. He smiled sweetly.

-      There you are. I was looking for you. –he said smiling and grabbed my wrist. I just followed him in shock. We walked to the door and he stopped before we exited the classroom facing the girls. –Oh! And if you touch one of her hairs or something offensive blows out of your mouth, you will know the not so nice part of me, and believe me, you don’t want to know it. Did you get it? –he said with a serious, but creepy expression. The girls looked at us scared and nodded.

-      This is exactly why I think that you should have kept your relationship on secret. I thought you didn’t want anyone to know about you and Youngmin. –Chunji said.

-      I used to think in that way before, but not anymore. Why to keep it in secret? If anyway that person can cheat on you with someone else who is famous and no one will know about it. No one will know the truth about him, that he’s a cheater. –I turned my back to him and saw Youngmin was walking on my way. He glared at Chunji.

-      Yah! Those girls were bullying Gaein. Where were you to protect her? –Chunji said a little mad at Youngmin.

-       Really? Did they hurt you? –Youngmin said worried looking at me from head to toe.

-      No, Chunji appeared and the girls left me. –I said. Feeling protected by him was something good, but strange… now I have Youngmin, it was like I didn’t need his protection anymore.

-      Oh, really? Thanks for protecting “my girlfriend”. –he said emphasizing those words. Did he really have to say it? It’s… awkward.

-      Anyway, you shouldn’t have announced your relationship in public. You know how the girls in this school are. They could have hurt her. –Chunji said.

-      I prefer it this way. I’m not embarrassed of being seen with her, instead, I’m proud of being with such an amazing girl like her and I don’t care what people say about it. So thank you, but I will be with her every moment and I’ll make sure that she doesn’t get hurt. But thanks for worrying anyway… -Youngmin said coldly and held my hand dragging me with him.

-      I think Chunji is right. –I said.

-      What? –Youngmin said raising his voice.

-      Well, I think that it would be better if you hadn’t announced we were “Dating” to all the school.

-      Oh, yeah… and what was going to say after I kissed you? That it was fan service or something? –he said angry.

-      It’s just that… I don’t know… -I said.

-      Now you can’t run after him, that’s what you mean.

-      It’s not that… -I said nervous.

-      Yes, it is! Because you’re dying for running after him. He’s not a saint or something, he cheated on you! But you still look at him like if he was perfect. –Youngmin said very mad.

-      I never said that! –I said holding my tears.

-      But it’s true.

-      Even then, that would be my problem. It’s not like I’m no single anyway, because we perfectly know that there’s nothing between us, right? This is just a lie. We’re not together for real! –I said also angry. He doesn’t know a lot about me, but he always judges me and Chunji.

-      You’re right. We’re nothing for real. For you, I don’t mean anything; I’m just one of the guys that work on the same company than your sister. Thanks for remembering me that. –Youngmin said with a sad face and walked away.

I stayed in silence and went to my class. I feel so bad for doing that to Youngmin. I didn’t mean that. Of course Youngmin means something for me. He’s the only real friend I have.

After a couple classes, it was already recess time. I was worried about Youngmin. I need to apologize with him.

I walked to the cafeteria looking for him, but he wasn’t with Boyfriend. Where could he be? I went to the rooftop, but he wasn’t there. I finally went to the library. He was sitting on one of the corners listening to music. His eyes were closed, but he wasn’t sleeping.

-      Youngmin… -I said and shook his shoulder. He opened his eyes and looked at me with sad eyes. –I’m sorry… -I said kneeling down in front of him.

-      You don’t need to apologize. I’m the one who misunderstood the things. –he said looking down.

-      It’s not like that. I got very mad because of those girls and then Chunji telling me that he wasn’t agree with it. But I didn’t mean that, you’re very important for me, really. –I said.

-      Anyway, you’re planning to give him another chance, right? That makes me feel worried. – He said looking away.

-      You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll be fine. –I said sitting next to him and smiled at him.

-      I don’t know. I don’t trust him…

-      Well, you don’t really know him. How could you trust him?

-      Exactly! I don’t even know him, but the only certain things I know about him is that he lied to you, he cheated on you with your best friend and hurt you a lot. Those aren’t things to be trustful.

-      I don’t plan to give him a chance like that. If he gains my trust again, then I’ll give him another chance; but if he doesn’t, then I won’t. –I said and sighed.

-      Why don’t you just forget about him and continue with your life?

-      Because I already tried it, but it isn’t working that well.

-      Don’t you think the things would be easier if you do it?

-      It’s not that simple. It seems that the pain grows and grows every time I think about him. I just want to be happy again.

-      Even when that happiness is a lie? Because I don’t think that Chunji really loves you.

-      You don’t know anything about him, so you can’t judge him. –I said.

-      It’s impossible. You’re always defending him, even when you know it’s true. C’mon Gaein open your eyes! Chunji is not someone good for you, that’s all and he can’t make you happy because he hurt you, and if he would really love you, he would never have done what he did. –Youngmin said and stood up leaving me sitting there.

I know he’s right but… how do I explain that to my heart?
