Chapter 12: If you could only call my name instead of his.

Youngmin’s POV:

I arrived to our dorm. I saw Minwoo and Kwangmin playing videogames, Donghyun hyung was listening to music, Hyunseong hyung and Jeongmin were studying but Gaein wasn’t there.

I went upstairs and knocked the door of her bedroom, but no one answered. I opened it and no one was there.

-      Hyung! Where is Gaein? –I shouted from upstairs.

-      She stayed in the school because she said she had a project to finish. –Donghyun hyung shouted.

-      Oh! Ok! –I shouted and went to our bedroom.

-      Since when you worry so much for Gaein? –Minwoo said smirking standing on the door.

-      What? –I said sitting on my bed.

-      Yes, hyung. The last thing I remember is that you said you didn’t like her at all. –Kwangmin said jumping on his bed throwing some of his Pikachu plushies on the floor.

-      But now, you like her A LOT! –Minwoo said smiling.

-      Yah! Stop! –I said blushing.

-      Youngmin likes Gaein noona! Youngmin likes Gaein noona!- Minwo screamed jumping with Kwangmin on the bed.

-      Shh! Stop! Someone could hear you! –I said upset.

-      But, you like her, right? –Kwangmin said.

-      No! –I said covering my blushed face with my pillow.

-      Yah! You’re blushing! –Minwoo said taking my pillow showing my blushed face and I immediately covered again my face with my hands.

-      So cute! Hyung is in love! –Minwoo said giggling with the pillow.

-      No, I’m not. –I said with crossed arms and stuck out my tongue.

-      Yes, you are. –Kwangmin said smiling and hit me with the pillow on my head. I glared at him.

-      Oh! Really? Then, I’ll ask her to be my girlfriend since I like her and she’s very pretty. –Minwoo said.

-      What! –I said upset. Minwoo and Kwangmin laughed at me.

-      See? You’re crazy for her. –Minwoo said smiling.

-      Stop! –I said covering my face with my pillow again. I saw them chuckling and hi five each other. –I hate you! –I said hiding my face on my bed.

-      We love you too hyung! –They said in unison. I heard a sound downstairs.

-      She’s here! –I said.

I ran downstairs quickly. I saw Kwangmin and Minwoo laughing at me but I didn’t care. I stood in front of her and smile.

-      You’re here! –I said. The hyungs exchange glances and then looked at me. I just tried to ignore them.

-      Yes. –she said. Her eyes were all swollen and she was so pale. I know she has been crying. I felt pain in my heart when I saw her sad face.

-      C’mon let’s eat! –I said taking her hand and dragged her to the kitchen.

I opened the cupboard and took some ingredients.

-      Do you like Bibimbap? –I asked her. She just nodded.

I started chopping the ingredients. But honestly, I’m not good at chopping, so I was doing it pretty lamely. She chuckled a little and extended her hand to me. I gave her the knife and she started chopping very quickly. I was amazed at her cooking skills.

I cooked the rice and then mixed all the ingredients that she had chopped.

-      Yay! –I clapped happily looking at the perfect meal. She chuckled which made me smile widely at her. She looked away shyly. –c’mon try it! –I said feeding her. –How is it? –I said curious. She put her thumbs up.

We finished eating and brushed our teeth. The others were eating the rest of the food.

I went to my bedroom and did my homework. It was already time to go to practice, so I went to Gaein’s room.

I knocked the door and opened it. She was sitting in front of her desk crying. She looked at me and sobbed.

-      Youngmin-ah… -she said looking at me with teary eyes.

-      What happened? –I said bending down and held her hand. She just sobbed as I wiped her tears.

-      Nothing. –she said holding her tears. I hugged her until she calmed down.

-      How can I go to practice if you just cried right now? –I asked her.

-      It’s okay. –she said.

-      No, I can’t leave you here alone. Why don’t you come with us? –I said.

-      Mmmm… ok. –she said.

-      Get ready. –I said smiling

I went downstairs. Minwoo, Donghyun hyung, Kwangmin and Hyunseong hyung were already waiting for me and Jeongmin hyung.

-      Gaein is coming with us. –I announced.

-      Ok. –Donghyun said smiling. Minwoo and Kwangmin looked at each other and smiled suspiciously.

She went downstairs wearing a pair of navy navy blue skinny jeans and a white blouse with a blue and pink plaid shirt on. I stared at her and she looked down shyly.

We went to Starship’s building and rehearsed for about an hour.

We were on our break, when Gaein approached us.

-      I’ll go to buy ice cream. Do you want some? –She asked.

-      Yes! –Minwoo said excited.

-      Ok, then I’ll go to buy it. –she said.

-      Youngmin hyung, why don’t you go with her? –Kwangmin said teasingly. I glared at him.

-      Yes, you should go with her. It’s not good that a girl walks alone on the streets so late.

-      Ok. –I said, but I only agreed because I wouldn’t forgive myself if something happened to her.

We walked to the ice cream shop. The sky was clouded, good thing I brought my umbrella.

The ice cream shop was very crowded. I guess because today is Friday.

-      Sit down here and I will stand in line. –I said.

I bought the ice creams and came back to the table where Gaein was, but she wasn’t there anymore.

-      Gaein-ah! –I shouted but I couldn’t see her between all the people. I looked for her but I couldn’t find her.

It started to rain and I got worried. I walked out of the ice cream shop and looked for her.

I ran and ran everywhere until I found her crying on a park bench. I sighed and ran to her.

-      Yah! Gaein-ah! I told you to stay there! It’s raining and you can catch a cold! – I said taking off my jacket and put it her on.

-      Mianhe… -she said not even looking at me with tears flowing down her eyes.

-      Why did you leave? –I said caressing her cheek.

-      Because she… she gave me this. –she said sobbing and showed me a ring.

-      Who? –I asked.

-      Hyuna… -she said. I closed my eyes and sighed.

-      Chunji had bought this for me, because today was our anniversary, but he gave it to her when he confessed. –she said crying on my shoulder. – If she hadn’t gotten between us today would be our first anniversary. We would still be together. –she said crying. –I looked at her in the eyes and held her head with my hands.

-      Listen to me. I know this is hard for you. But you shouldn’t let her or anybody hurt you. They don’t deserve your tears. –I said looking straight in her eyes.

-      Do you think it doesn’t hurt? The only person I’ve ever loved in my life cheated on me with my best friend! They are so happy together and I’m dying without him! Do you think it’s hard? No, this is more than hard! –she yelled at me.

-      I know. I’m sorry. –I said and hugged her tightly.

She cried in my arms for almost an hour and then fell asleep. It was still raining. Donghyun called me because he was worried about me. They picked us up at the park and we came back to our dorm.

I take her to her room and laid her on her bed.

-      Chunji Oppa… don’t leave me… -she said in her dreams and held my hand.

I felt a hole in my heart when I heard her words. I looked at her and she was sweating. I touched her forehead and it was heated. I took her temperature with the thermometer and marked 39ºC (102 ºF). She has fever. I sighed and went to the kitchen for some ice and a towel. I picked some pills and water and come back to her room.

-      Gaein-ah, please take this pills. It will lower the fever. –I said shaking her. She sat down slowly and took the pills. –You can sleep again now. –I said and she lay down again.

I put the ice on a towel and pressed it against her forehead. I stared at her groaning and moving, calling his name. I held her hand and she calmed down a little.

I felt my eyes filled of tears and suddenly I started crying.

-      You know? Sometimes I don’t know what to think. Sometimes, I really want that you and Chunji be together again, because it seems that’s the only thing that can make you happy. Because I can’t stand to see you suffering in this way anymore. But, then, you’re able to smile when you’re by my side and I feel that I can make you forget about him. And I don’t know why I’m feeling this, I don’t know why I can’t stop worrying about you. If you could only feel my heart that is beating so fast for you right now. I don’t know a lot about love, but if you just give me one chance. If you could only call my name instead of his. I would make everything to make you forget about him, I would make everything just to see your smile every day, because if you are happy, then I’m also happy…
