Kris watched as Gu Li fawned over the big bowl of patbingsu, she also had ordered a platter of brownies and cookies.

“I have a feeling you’re going to judge me.” She mused as she picked up her spoon, Kris just leaned back on his seat, he didn’t know why but his head started to throb.

“What are you saying?” He smiled while leaning his chin on his palm.

“I’m stressed, I need sugar. Tons of sugar.” She began mixing the patbingsu, Kris just smiled silently.

“I don’t think I can eat with my agung and Chaerin in one table.” She muttered again. Then she picked up another spoon and handed it to Kris.

“I can’t eat this alone, Kris.”

“You’re sharing?”

She snorted, Kris just grinned as he helped himself to a spoonful.

“You don’t do this type of thing a lot, do you?” Gu Li asked.

“Well, I rarely visit ice cream shops this early, but Jill does occasionally drag me to pastry shops every once in a while.” Kris nodded, Gu Li popped a brownie in .

“So, lunch is my treat. Do I get to choose?” She asked while helping herself to another spoonful of patbingsu.

Kris couldn’t help but smile, a few years back his mother always forced him to go on blind dates, the girls he met up with rarely touched their plates and always talked about themselves, they wouldn’t even meet his eyes. And there’s Gu Li, she was eating merrily, while questioning him in her usual blunt way and even offering to pay for lunch.

“But I’m the one who drives, I get to choose.” Kris replied flatly.

“Heol.” She chuckled, Kris just nodded playfully.

“Uhmm. Wow?” Kris blinked, she chuckled as she picked up a napkin, then she leaned forward and gently dabbed it on the side of his lip. Kris’s eyes widened but he felt himself relax.

“Just like Lay ge, you guys eat carelessly.” She chuckled before going back to her brownies.

“But, are you not feeling well?” Gu Li’s curious eyes went to his face, he paused.

“I just noticed, you seem a little pale, and you keep on rubbing your temples.”

“A have a little headache~”

“Then I’ll drive.” She volunteered.

Gu Li stared as the waitress took their orders, well she was only speaking to Kris. She sighed, the waitress was obviously trying to flirt with him.

“And, Gu Li, anything else?” Kris looked up, the waitress finally glanced at her.

“Nothing, but next time,” Gu Li leaned forward.

“Please remember that there’s two of us, since this table is good for two, right?” She smiled, the waitress scurried off before bowing, she chuckled.

“So, how’s work so far?”

“Work, work, work. Where do I even begin?” She nodded to herself.

“It is..difficult for you?”

“Ani, not really. Although sometimes the pressure does get to me.” She paused, as if choosing her words.

“You probably know I don’t even qualify as CEO, right?” She looked up.

“Mark did mention you were a veterinarian.” Kris nodded.

“What do you think?”

Before Kris could reply, their food arrived.

He didn’t know what to say to her, he didn’t expect Gu Li to talk this way. He didn’t expect that a lady like her had doubts.

She seems so perfect when he looked at her.

“You’re doing well, Lay mentioned how even the other directors tiptoe around you.” He prodded, Gu Li didn’t reply but she smiled.

Kris picked up his utensils, his thoughts a little messy but despite his headache he felt relaxed.

Dongmin was smiling to himself as his two underlings left.

It was going to be easy for him and his sister.

“Are you sure about this, oppa?” Chaerin asked from the couch.

“Don’t you worry, dongsaeng. Just marry Zhang Yixing and we’ll have a stronger hold here in Seoul. Even our Chinese partners are excited about your union with him.”

“You’re future cousin-in-law already knows too much, we need to get rid of her.” Dongmin continued.

“Whatever, I hate her anyway.”

Gu Li crossed her arms. Kris sighed, they were both standing in front of his car, arguing.

“I’ll drive you back to the office~”

“Nope. You look sick. Well, you are. So,” Gu Li closed her palm, completely hiding the key.

“I’ll be driving you home, president.” She mused.

“Don’t “Ya” me, just get inside the car.” She ordered before getting in the driver’s seat. Kris sighed and just followed her.

Gu Li gave him a victorious smile as he strapped his seatbelt.

Gu Li was at the second floor living room, Kris was inside his room taking a warm shower, he had just taken some flu medicine.

She opened her purse and took out the envelope Changmin had handed her earlier.

She bit her lip and set down the papers before her, then her eyes widened.

Then she started to read, her knuckles whitened as fingers curled around the documents and the photos.

Then she heard the doors opened, she hid the documents back in the envelope and stood up.

Kris was dressed in a black sweater and gray sweatpants, then he paused.

“What’s wrong with you?” He asked her, Gu Li just shook her head.

“But ge, I really need to go.” She lifted her purse from the couch, Kris nodded.

“I’ll have someone~”

“No,” Gu Li’s hand squeeze his arm, she swallowed, her eyes slightly unfocused.

“I’ll just drive myself home, I’ll have someone return your car tomorrow.” She finished before heading for the stairs, Kris just blinked at her.

Then she suddenly halted and marched back to him, then what she did next shocked Kris.

She stood on her toes and kissed his cheek.

“Thanks for dropping by at the office by the way, you’re the best alibi every trapped CEO can have.” She chuckled before finally leaving.
