The Kim’s Residence

Jeonju, North Jeolla

“Umma, Appa…” Jiyong hugged the elder Kim warmly

“My Jiyong, long time no see.” Kim umma patted his blue-ish hair.

“Where have you been? It’s been a long time since the last time we met.” Kim appa gave him his fatherly smile.

“I was so busy lately, appa. I really miss you too. Where’s hyung and Haeyeon?”

“Jiwoong’s still at his office and Haeyeon’s staying overnight in her friend’s house.”Kim umma answered him.

 “Where’s Taeyeon? Does she come with you?”

“No umma, she’s in Seoul.”

“What happened son?” Kim appa asked him. Jiyong unreadable expression tugged something inside his heart.

On the other hand, Jiyong couldn’t help but feel nervousness slowly eat him. The sweats started to perform on his forehead and his palms. His air became heavy and he found himself has difficulty in breath.

Who won’t be nervous if the very-soon-to-be parent in law actually had a doubt towards his first intention before?

Even the ever full of confidence Kwon Jiyong has to felt that way.

‘Taeyeon-ah! Dear, how I miss you so badly.’ Kim umma hugs her beloved daughter.

‘Mianhe umma. You know really well about my schedule lately.’ Taeyeon smiles reassuringly to her father while hugging her mom back.

‘Don’t overwork Taeyeon-ah! Take a rest if you start to feel not really well.’ Kim appa pats her head lovingly.

‘Ah, umma… appa… do you remember the thing I told you last night?’

‘About that special someone of yours? Of course I do’ Kim umma smiles with a glint of happiness in her eyes.

‘Where’s him Taeyeon-ah?’ Kim appa asks her back.

‘Well, actually he’s already here.’ she says happily. ‘But please remember what I told you before about this man. Don’t judge him on his first appearance. In the real life he’s a very great and responsible man. Promise me you won’t judge him first before know him.’

Taeyeon herself is nervous. She will introduce his one of a kind boyfriend who received the same amount of love and hate from the people. And she has no idea in which position her parent would judge him.

And Kim elder they were nervous too. The way Taeyeon explains this man to them make their stomach lurch in anticipation.

‘I promise, dear. Come on, invite him to come in.’ Kim appa give Taeyeon his fatherly smile.

Upon seeing his smile, Taeyeon feels lighter. She kisses her father before dashes to the front door. And when the Kim elders see him, they couldn’t help but shocked.

And honestly, this man is far far far away from their expectation.

‘Annyeonghaseo, I’m Taeyeon’s boyfriend, Kwon Jiyong imnida…’

“Son?” Kim umma’s voice snapped him back in to reality

“Ah, umma mian. I am sorry. I was spaced out for a while.”

“Let’s have a seat first, dear. I’m sure it’ll be more comfortable to him.” Kim appa gave him his fatherly smile then ushered his wife to sit on the nearest sofa. After the elders have their seat, something surprising happened in front of their eyes.

Kwon Jiyong kneeled down on the ground and bowed his head. He slowly leaned further forward until his forehead touched the ground. And he spoke…

“I want to make your daughter as mine forever. Appa, umma, I want to marry Kim Taeyeon.”

The elders gasped in surprised.

After sometimes being so awestruck for his movement, Kim umma rose from her seat and assisted him to stand up.

“Son… you don’t have to bow like that.” Kim umma spoke with tears in her eyes.

“I just… I don’t want to make you feel hesitate towards my intention. I love Taeyeon for a long time already. And I love her very much that I can do anything for her. I love her that much that I’ll go crazy without her. I love her umma… with all my life.”

“Omo… Jiyong-ah.” Kim umma hugged him while crying happily.

What to do? Kim umma loved him like his own son. She adored his humble and kind personality. And most of all, she loves the way Jiyong treated Taeyeon. As woman herself, she could see how much love he has for her daughter. She felt relieved that Taeyeon has reliable man for her future and she believes even one thousand percent that this man will make Taeyeon happy.

But the different thing went through the Kim’s elder male. When Kim umma already hugged Jiyong in happy tears – and gave him her indirect blessing – Kim appa just rooted on the sofa. His eyes transfixed to Jiyong’s, whose also starring back at him. Of course Kim appa knew he’s being extra serious here. He could see the determine look on his eyes. That strong gaze but also soft and pleading.

Jiyong was anxious. Even though this kindhearted soon-to-be-mother in law hugged him so happily, he knows that the key isn’t with her. And seeing Taeyeon’s father starring deeply on his eyes didn’t make his nervousness lessen.

It was worsening.

‘Appa, umma… this is Jiyong. My boyfriend.’ Taeyeon introduces Jiyong to her parent which seemingly frozen on the spot, too awestruck to see the famous G-Dragon on their house, and labeled as their daughter’s boyfriend.

It’s just very, VERY unpredictable

‘Oh… annyeonghaseo Jiyong-sshi.’ Kim umma is the first one who greets him and bowing. Jiyong bows back then smiles to her.

When he turns his body towards Taeyeon’s father, the nervousness suddenly rushes back to his body, make him feels heavier. Taeyeon’s father dark orbs stab straightly on his eyes. Gazing him very deeply, as digging in to see his soul.

He gulps down his saliva.

‘annyeonghaseo sir and ma’am. It’s really nice to finally meet you’

‘It’s nice to see you too Jiyong-sshi. welcome to our humble house. Our Haeyeonnie is a big fan of you and BigBang.’

‘animida… your house is nice. It’s very clean and tidy.’

‘ah, thank you so much for the compliment.’ Kim umma gives him her smiles.
