One of the Many Men

A Cyborg Like My Perfect Bias [Hiatus]

Lay glances over at Lu Han and Sooyun.  The two haven’t talked ever since the catfight she had with Xiao Xue.  Then, not long after that Lu Han called quits on his relationship with the model to everyone’s surprise.  However, it wasn’t like he just ended like that after Sooyun went off into the dark city of Beijing alone.  They had a screaming competition before Lu Han declared the end of their relationship.  Whether Chen had told Sooyun that Lu Han is now available on the market or not, Lay wasn’t sure.  She hasn’t shown any signs of knowing at all and continues to keep her distance.

“Jongdae.” calls out Sooyun, but Lu Han still turns to her regardless.  His puppy eyes were calling out to her, but she doesn’t even glance once at him.

            “Hm?” responded the troll.

“Do you know where my phone is?” asks Sooyun, forgetting where she placed it.

Lay helps her by looking around the dressing room.  “Why do you need it anyways?” replies Chen.  “It’s not like you text a lot or anything.”

“One of the editors from Marie Claire China called me yesterday and I missed it.” replies Sooyun, as she rolls her eyes.

Chen laughs.  “OK, OK.” he says.

“Stop playing around with Jiejie.” comments Tao, with a chuckle.  “She’s tired.”

“Is it my fault that she was doing a photo shoot for Women’s Health yesterday?” asks Chen, as he turns to Tao.

They start to bicker as Sooyun shook her head.  She turns to Xiumin and asks the same thing.  Out of the corner of Lay’s eyes, he can see Lu Han grabbing something.  By the time he turns to look at Lu Han, he is already handing Sooyun’s phone to her.  Just as she accepted it, the phone started to vibrate intensely.  She quickly gives him with a small smile and a thank you before stepping out of the dressing room.

Lu Han sits on one of the chairs with a heavy sigh.  The group doesn’t say anything as Kris and Xiumin stopped Tao and Chen’s little argument.  Everyone knows that he has been feeling down, whether if it was because of Xiao Xue or Sooyun, none of them were sure.  Even Lay doesn’t have the guts to ask him what has been bothering him.  Lu Han hasn’t been telling him about everything like he used to, so Lay doesn’t want to pressure him.

There has to be a reason behind his silence, he thought

The interview was done before the guys even realized it.  Every now and then throughout the filming, Lay could feel Lu Han’s eyes travel to Sooyun who was standing next to Manager Hyunkyun behind the camera.  When he smiled to the camera, he would always seem to glance at her before looking directly at it.  Once they were done, she was no longer around.  Before heading to the dressing room, Lay quickly takes his chance to thank the crew along with the whole group.  He and Chen were the last ones to leave when they were stopped by the PD.

“Oh!  Lay, who was the young woman that was with your manager?” he asks.

“Our makeup artist.” replies Lay, with a nod.

“She’s really pretty.” comments the PD.

Chen smiles.  “Would you like her number?” he teases, never knowing when it is appropriate.

The PD smiles brightly before Lay could defend Chen’s lack of professionalism.  “Would that be OK?” he replies.

“Of course.” smiles Chen, as he watches the PD getting out a pen and a small notepad.

Lay stares at the scene, dazed.  His gut is telling him that something will go bad with this whole ordeal when something at the corner catches his eyes.  He turns to look to see Lu Han standing at his side, with an unreadable face and startling him.  Lu Han is neither angry nor happy and Lay isn’t even sure what that can mean.

Chen turns around to bump into Lu Han after he gives the PD Sooyun’s number.  Lu Han doesn’t bother to step out of the way, but just stares at him.  All the sudden, he smiles softly at Chen.  “C’mon, let’s go.” he said, as he tugs on Chen’s forearm and Lay quickly stays at his side.  As soon as they were out of earshot, he adds in Korean, “I don’t think Sooyun will appreciate you giving out her number like that, Jongdae.”

The younger male snorts.  “He was interested in a woman that is free on the market, so I might as well help him.” he retorts, in Korean.  Lu Han doesn’t say anything as he looks on ahead.  “Are you sure it’s really you that doesn’t appreciate what I am doing instead of Sooyun?”

Lay’s eyes widen as a vein on Lu Han’s neck pop.  The deer turns towards the troll and they have a small staring contest as they come to a stop.  “You, of all people, should understand Sooyun the most.” he states.  “You are her friend and you know that she wouldn’t like this.”

Chen continues to smile, making the whole situation even more heated.  “Well, you never know.  She might actually fall in love again.” he says.  “And, you, of all people, should know that she shouldn’t hold onto the past anymore.  You’re one of the many men that are by her side after all.”

Before Lu Han can say anything, Sooyun yells out, “What you guys doing?  Hurry up!  We need to get you guys to the radio station by 11!”

Chen’s laugh can be heard as he continues walking towards Sooyun.  Both Lay and Lu Han watches as Chen pats her head and continues out the back door.  She blinks at the two remaining guys and motions them to head out the door.  Lu Han starts to walk towards her and Lay follows him.  He suddenly stops in front of her and the younger male almost bumps into him.

Lay could tell that he was hesitating for some reason and then he placed his hand on her elbow to tug her out with them.  “Let’s go.” Lay can hear Lu Han say to Sooyun.  Those words were probably the first things he has said to her in a while.  His voice was shaky for some reason and he seemed nervous.

Lay raises his eyebrows at Lu Han, as he lets go of Sooyun’s arm after they exited the building.  For some reason, he is being careless as if he is asking to have a scandal with Sooyun or something.  Lay quickly comes to her side and stands closer than the usual so than any fancams recorded wouldn’t cause any scandals.

“Sooyun, you look really tired.” he comments, as Lu Han steps into the van.

She smiles at him.  “I am, but I like running around with you guys.” she says.

Lay smiles.  “I’m glad to hear that then.” he laughs.

Sooyun just laughs in return.  He glances at her, then steps into the van, and closes the door.  As Lay sits next to Lu Han, he notices that the guy was only looking at Sooyun.  He turns to look at her as well.  Lay notices something about her that he never had before.  There was a certain glow in her face and she just looks so adorable.  A blush creeps over Lay’s face as he looks over at Lu Han, who is still staring at her.

“Sooyun and I are going to go on a date.” says Chen, who is sitting on the other side of Lu Han.

“What?!” asks Lay and him, in unison.

“He’s lying!” replies Sooyun, from the front.  Chen starts to laugh as Lu Han and Lay starts to glare at him.  “Gee, Jongdae, I wonder how a date would be with you.”  She quickly looks over her shoulders at him and they make eye contact.  She smiles at him, showing his heart melting eye smile.  Lay gushes, secretly inside.  “Jongdae-ah, would you like to go on a date with me?”

Lay watches as Lu Han’s jaw drops as he stares at the both of them.  The van erupts in laughter as the guys become riled up.  “Sure.” smiles Chen.

Lu Han stares off into the space as emotions took over his face.  His face starts to scrunch up and then his eyes become wide.  His jaw is still hanging off of his face.  All Lay wants to do is laugh, but he knew that it is unfitting for the situation.

It seems like Chen really does know Sooyun more than Lu Han, thought Lay with a smile.  He wraps his arm around Lu Han’s shoulders and pats it lightly, trying to be as comforting as possible.
