*~FIFTY NINE~*

~* ♥ MiNE ♥*~ ft Choi Jonghun (FT Island) & Bae Suzy (Miss A)

Suzy stared at the door that had just been slammed in her face. By Jonghun. By her Jonghun. He had just told her that he wanted a break up & the only reason he was with her was to get into her pants. To sleep with her. And now that he had gotten what he wanted he was dumping her. “That is exactly the same attitude he had with his past girlfriends. I witnessed it myself but why don’t I believe it when he said those words to me?” Suzy’s lower lip trembled with the emotions welling up inside her.

Jonghun had been downright vicious to her yet Suzy found it extremely difficult to believe he could be that cruel to her. “I don’t know what is wrong with you Choi Jonghun but I will find out.” Suzy wiped her tears away determinedly. With one last look at the bedroom door Suzy gathered up the sandwiches & drinks and walked out of the mansion. Hearing the front door click shut Jonghun opened the bedroom door just a crack & peeked out his face still distraught.

“She’s gone.” Mrs Choi came out of the bedroom her expression sombre. “I couldn’t help but overhear the entire thing.. Son.. you shouldn’t have said those things to her. Poor girl was heartbroken.” Mrs Choi told her son her voice radiating with disapproval. “It broke my heart even more to say those things to her. I love that woman so much my insides ache.” Jonghun plopped down onto the floor his handsome face dazed.

“Then why don’t you take her up on her idea? Tell her the truth on what is bothering you & solve it together as a couple.” Mrs Choi answered evenly. Jonghun could see his mother was rather resentful that he had hurt Suzy. “Mr Bae had a point. If I follow Suzy to London then I will be her biggest distraction since we both can’t stay away from each other.” Jonghun stared at the tiles in dismay. “So it warrants you to hurt her to this extent?” Mrs Bae raised her eyebrows.

“Yes. It does. Like Mr Bae said.. this is the only way I’m going to keep my promise to her father. It’s for her own good.” Jonghun answered even though he didn’t believe it one bit after seeing her tears. “If you say so son. If you say so.” Mrs Choi reached out & ruffled her son’s hair before going back into her room. She realised that he needed his space & didn’t want to add fuel to the fire with her words.

“I don’t believe him.” Suzy spoke over a steaming cup of fragrant coffee. Hongki met her eyes over the cup his eyes apprehensive. She didn’t know why or how but Suzy’s feet had taken her right to Hongki’s café where she poured her heart out to him while Hongki made Suzy her favourite biscotti & coffee. Suzy was both guilty & grateful that Hongki had immediately welcomed her even though she had spurned his affections only some weeks ago. “He told you this himself?” Hongki asked.

“Yes. He told me himself but he seemed like he didn’t want to say it.. It’s like he was forcing himself to say it.” Suzy slammed her hand onto the table almost spilling her coffee onto her lap. “Careful Suzy!” Hongki moved the coffee cup out of the way before Suzy really did hurt herself. “But you did tell me that Jonghun was a womaniser before right? It’s his usual character to act this way.” Hongki said slowly. Suzy looked at him for a moment before sighing deeply.

“Yes. He was. BEFORE. He changed for me.” Suzy broke a piece of biscotti into tiny pieces. “And now he is acting the same way towards you?” Hongki asked. “He is! Argh.. This is so infuriating! I feel like tearing my hair out!!” Suzy pulled at her hair in distress. “Hey hey.. Careful. You don’t want to be bald do you?” Hongki walked over & gently untangled her hands from her hair. “Thank you Hongki shi. Honestly thank you so much for welcoming me. I feel like going crazy.” Suzy groaned.

“That’s what friends are for Suzy shi. Don’t thank me & spoil the sanctity of our friendship.” Hongki patted her hair. “But still it was very big-hearted of you to be so kind to me despite us not speaking for some time & I’ve hurt you too.” Suzy looked away guiltily. “Come on.. You are already so stressed out. Don’t guilt trip yourself over me as well. Your heart already belonged to Jonghun when you met me. It’s not your fault that you couldn’t love me.” Hongki took Suzy’s hand with a sad smile.

“When you’re being this nice to me I feel even guiltier.” Suzy laughed half-heartedly. “Have you found a nice girl for yourself?” Suzy asked trying to change the subject. “No. Not yet. I still like this one girl a lot.” Hongki grinned. Realising that he was referring to her Suzy coloured slightly & moved her hand away from Hongki’s. “You know it’s funny..” Hongki started speaking when an awkward silence started between the duo. “What is funny?” Suzy looked up from her biscotti.

“Usually when girls get dumped this way they cry buckets & become emotional recluses but not you. You are on a mission to prove that Jonghun is lying instead of hating him for hurting you.” Hongki rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Because even though it’s difficult to believe I trust that babo Jonghun. He might have his flaws but I know he loves me with all his heart. He might deny it but he needs more than just harsh words to kill my love for him.” Suzy laid her head on the table & shut her eyes.

“He’s lucky to have you.” Hongki replied looking rather envious. “Why?” Suzy opened her eyes at his words. “Because you love him enough to even ignore his hurtful words.” Hongki in turn laid his head on the table so that he was staring into Suzy’s face directly. “That is my problem isn’t it? I think I might love him too much. Funny I never thought I would love Choi Jonghun this much.” Suzy said almost inaudibly.

With another deep sigh she closed her eyes & fell asleep. Hongki watched her snoring softly & laughed to himself. He had definitely been taken aback when Suzy had shown up at his café distressed & upset. After he left her home weeks ago Hongki hadn’t spoken to Suzy at all. He wanted to stay away from her since she had made it clear that her heart belonged to Jonghun & being with her didn’t feel right to Hongki. H

owever when she showed up at his café Hongki couldn’t help but comfort her. He liked the girl. A lot. He also wanted to see her happy even if it wasn’t with him. “If it was me I wouldn’t have upset you this way..” he told her silently tucking a strand of hair behind Suzy’s ear.

Suzy walked back home alone her eyes taking in the dusky grey sky that was darkening into a bleak black night at an alarming pace. “The sky reflects my mood perfectly. It’s getting darker every passing second.” Suzy grumbled stomping her way through the fallen snow. Surprisingly it wasn’t snowing though it wouldn’t have made a difference to Suzy if it was.

“There is no one for to hug in this cold now. The man I want is pushing me away. The man who wants me is getting pushed away by me.” Suzy entered her quiet apartment & shut the door loudly. Thankful for the empty resounding silence for once Suzy crashed onto the couch her body & mind both aching with exhaustion.

Hongki had been comforting as a friend but that was not what Suzy wanted. She wanted the handsome idiot Choi Jonghun. She wanted to hear his cheesy declarations of love. She wanted to feel his soft kisses. Most of all Suzy wanted a full happy life with him.

“I want so many things with him but he doesn’t want me..” tears started escaping Suzy’s eyes once again & she wiped them away instantly. That wasn’t the time for her to be broken. She needed to find answers for her questions. “Tomorrow I will go visit him again. Hopefully he will give me a proper explanation rather than feeding me lies than he himself doesn’t believe.” Suzy took out her phone & stared at the picture that decorated the background.

A picture of her with Jonghun taken after they had their jam fight. They both looked blissful in each other’s arms with Jonghun gazing lovingly at Suzy as she took the picture. “You have so much of love for me. How can I believe for one moment that you don’t?” Suzy kissed the picture & slipped it back into her bag. Massaging her aching temples Suzy laid back on the couch & within seconds had fallen asleep.

Jonghun pulled open the door to his walk-in closet & entered it solemnly. Sifting through the endless collection of shirts & ties he owned he picked a white silk shirt & a deep crimson tie. His parents insisted that he had to dress up for that brunch date with their long-time family friend the Kims. Mrs Choi had suggested Jonghun to attend the brunch to take his mind off things, more accurately Bae Suzy.

“It’ll be good for you to make some small talk with our family friends.” Mrs Choi had patted Jonghun’s hand. Not having any other choice but to agree Jonghun had given a slight nod in agreement though nothing could take his mind off Suzy. Ever since he told her to leave him alone Jonghun had been thinking about her non-stop every single second. Pulling on the silk shirt Jonghun had almost finished buttoning it down fully when he realised that it was the same silk shirt Suzy had gifted to him.

“Even unknowingly my heart goes back to her. I didn’t even realise that it was the same silk shirt she gave me.” Jonghun felt a hard tug at the bottom of his heart as he the silky material of the shirt. It reminded him of her in such a sudden way Jonghun almost felt himself lose his balance.

“My feelings for Bae Potato are too deep..” Jonghun realised at how scarily intense his feelings for Suzy were & shook his head to clear those thoughts away. He couldn’t afford to be a big sap at that moment. He needed to give Suzy the impression that he was moving on with his life. Without her.

Suzy stood in front of the full length mirror in her bedroom & checked out her reflection. She was wearing one of Jonghun’s favourite sundresses, the ones with the big blue flowers. “It makes your eyes sparkle.” He had told her the first time she had worn it.

“I’m coming to see again babo. Don’t disappoint me.” Suzy thought silently as she ran a comb through her damp hair. It was almost noon & since it was a Sunday afternoon Suzy knew that Jonghun would be chilling at home & re-watching old football matches. Also making a note to swing by & visit her father later on Suzy hurriedly left the house.

“His car is still here! Thank goodness..” Suzy heaved a sigh of relief when she spotted Jonghun’s car still parked outside the mansion. Taking a deep breath Suzy knocked on the front door. She heard footsteps making their way down & moved back in shock when Mrs Choi pulled open the door instead of Jonghun. Suzy had completely forgotten that Jonghun’s parents were still with him. “Oh I’m sorry Mrs Choi. I.. Am I interrupting something?” Suzy asked apologetically.

“Suzy! It’s so nice to see you again dear! How are you? Come on in..” Mrs Choi welcomed Suzy warmly. “I’m fine Mrs Choi. I hope you’re well too.” Suzy answered with a smile. It was nice to be greeted that warmly. “I’ve been well. Seems like you & Jonghun have been really busy recently.” Mrs Choi teased Suzy causing her to blush. “We’ve been.. caught up with certain things.” Suzy’s cheeks felt warm. Laughing at her reaction Mrs Choi reached out & took her hand.

“Look here Suzy.. I know that you & Jonghun had an argument yesterday but I’m sure you both will work it out soon. Just.. Just don’t give up on him alright? He has no choice.” Mrs Choi’s words ignited a spark of doubt inside Suzy. What did Mrs Choi mean by Jonghun didn’t have a choice? “Suzy? What are you doing here?” Suzy watched Jonghun’s tall lean frame enter the living room dressed impeccably in a Gucci suit.

“I came to see you Jonghun. We need to talk. You weren’t in a good mood yesterday so I thought maybe we can talk over lunch today.” Suzy smiled at him uncertainly. “I’ve a brunch date with my parents & family friends. I’m busy.” Jonghun answered bluntly.

Suzy’s face fell & she shuffled her feet uncomfortably. “If you’re busy then.. then I guess I better go.” She stood up her shoulder slumped with disappointment. Mrs Choi however quickly stopped her. “Why don’t you join us too Suzy dear?” she asked Suzy who beamed back with happiness.

“What is she trying to do?” Jonghun glared at his mother. Here he was trying his best not to launch himself over the coffee table & kissing Suzy to death because he was trying to avoid her and his mother was inviting Suzy over for the brunch date. “No. That is not a good idea.” Jonghun said pointedly staring at his mother but the older woman ignored him.

Suzy gazed back from Jonghun to his mother apprehensively. She got the hint that Jonghun didn’t want her there but she couldn’t leave without getting answers either. “I would love to join you guys if you don’t mind.” She replied. “I mind.” Jonghun said loudly & Suzy’s heart sank again. He was still acting so cold & cruel. “Don’t mind him Suzy. He’s just on his period.” Mrs Choi laughed. “MUM!!” Jonghun protested utterly humiliated. “If you insist Mrs Choi I will come along.” Suzy smiled back her eyes still on Jonghun.

“This is a disaster.” Jonghun groaned inwardly as he glanced at Suzy beside him who looked just as awkward as him. Kim was a family friend but he had much more in common with Jonghun’s parents than he did with Jonghun therefore Jonghun was undoubtedly left. Suzy who was his guest was in an even more awkward position.

“You two young lovebirds should take a walk around the fountain at the back. Leave us old coots to mull over the past.” Kim who had noticed the discomfort of the two youngsters said in a kind tone. Jonghun & Suzy looked at each other & then looked away. “Yeah go on kids. Take a romantic walk around the back garden.” Mr Choi shooed them away. Having no choice but to oblige Kim & his mother Jonghun led Suzy away to the back garden.

Suzy inhaled sharply as her eyes fell upon the beautiful sight that had unfolded before her eyes. The back garden of the restaurant was breathtakingly beautiful. A lush green carpet of freshly cut grass lined the ground with vibrant multi-coloured flowers decorating the surrounding area. Suzy spotted at least fifteen different varieties of flowers within five minutes as the fragrance tickled her nostrils. “Oh my gosh.. Are those bunnies?” Suzy squealed when she spotted cute fluffy little rabbits hopping around in an enclosed pen & rushed to pet them.

Jonghun watched Suzy playing with the rabbits her eyes smiling with happiness as she fawned over their cuteness & clenched his fists into tight balls his fingernails digging into the palms of his hands. She had no idea how difficult it was for him to have her only three feet away from him yet being unable to hold her.

“We should leave now.” He called out to her. Suzy looked up from where she was nuzzling her nose into the nose of a fat fluffy rabbit. “We just got here. Let’s enjoy the scenery.” She called back & gestured him to come over. “Well I’m leaving.” Jonghun turned to leave when he heard Suzy calling out his name. “Wait Jonghun! Wait!” she called & Jonghun heard her running after him. She caught up with him easily.

“What is wrong babo? Please tell me. This is so unlike you.” She took his hand & held it between her own hands. “I already told you Bae Suzy. I told you clearly last night already yet you still visited me today to disturb me.” Jonghun steeled his resolution as he glared at Suzy. She drew back very slightly but she still didn’t release his hand from her grasp. “I’m not going to stop until you tell me the truth.” She told him stubbornly.

“Well I’m sick of repeating the same thing to you. Leave me alone.” Jonghun pushed her hand away & started walking towards the exit when he saw his mother standing at the door watching him with a disappointed expression. “You’re still being stubborn son. You might want to torture yourself & Suzy with such actions but I as your mother cannot do that. Tell her the truth now or else I’m going to do it.” Mrs Choi crossed her arms across her chest.

“I’m sorry.. what truth are you talking about Mrs Choi?” Suzy came up behind Jonghun looking puzzled. Jonghun turned to her & met her confused gaze directly. Maybe his mother was right. It was time to tell Suzy the truth & Jonghun really preferred it that she heard it from him than his mother.

Come with me.” He told her sadly. If Suzy was going to hear the truth Jonghun wanted to do it in the privacy of his mansion. He didn’t trust how Suzy would react if she realised what he had been trying to do for the past couple of days to keep her away.
