“You’re what?” I practically shrieked in his ears.

“I’m leaving you. I think we should get a divorce, it’s not working out, Hyo.” DooJoon looked away from me, seeming to not care about anything. The look on his face was much different from when I had first met him. All the love that was in his eyes was gone.

“You can’t do this to me.” I choked out, finding it hard to catch my breath. “You can’t let me become a 30 year old single mother. You just can’t.”

“I’m sorry, HyoYeon. We both know that this is the best for us.” He kissed my forehead for the last time. “Good bye, HyoYeon.” His footsteps patted away and a slam of the door was heard. A tear rolled down my face. I wiped it quickly away when I heard the baby cry from her room.

“It’s okay, JaeMin.” I carried him in my arms, soothing him with my voice. His quiet whimpers faded away as he drifted off to deep sleep again. I kissed his forehead and placed him in a coat and buckled him into his stroller. I needed to get out of this house.

I walked around, baby stroller in hand, while my tears flooded from my eyes. It had gotten to the point where I had to sit down on the park bench due to my clouded sight. “Why the hell did this happen to me?” I sniffed and wiped my face with the sleeve of my shirt. My phone rang.

“Hello?” I asked with a nasally voice.

“Hey, it’s TaeYeon. DooJoon called and told me about it. Are you okay?” His name was like a loud and obnoxious noise in my head. And of course I wasn’t okay. I just got dumped and now I’m left to fend for myself and a child.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll talk to you later, okay?” Before she could argue, I hung up, shoving the phone back in my jacket’s pocket. “This is all your fault.” I muttered at the baby while dabbing my nose with my sleeve. “I blame this all on you.”

“HyoYeon? Kim HyoYeon?” A voice called out from behind me. And I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw him.

“EunHyuk?”

                                                                                --

So, it really is HyoYeon. I haven’t seen this girl in years after our leave in SM. She was pretty as usual. No, EunHyuk! You can’t think this way of a married girl. When she spun around, I noticed her puffy red eyes. She looked exactly the same, 10 years ago when I found her crying in the dance room.

“Are you okay?” I suddenly blurted out in worry as I took a seat beside her unconsciously.

“Neh…” HyoYeon spoke with the smallest voice. “Opp- EunHyuk-shii. Why are you here?”

“Just walking around.” I shrugged and looked away. The atmosphere was awkward. We hadn’t spoken to each other for couple years now. Facing her again, I questioned. “Where’s the husband?” Trying to smile as brightly as I could, I faked my enthusiasm.

“He…” She took a deep breath. “He left today.”

Great conversation starter, Lee HyukJae. Smooth. “Oh really? I’m so sorry to hear that, HyoYeon!” My eyebrows met as I stared at her and the baby. “How will you take care of the baby?”

“I don’t know…” She sighed and looked at the little infant as well. “I can barely take care of myself, how will I even manage to take care of a little kid?”

“HyoYeon..” I thought for a second. “Do you mind… Do you mind if I hold her?” She looked up and nodded. I watched her carefully pull her up from the stroller and place her in my waiting arms. The sides of my lips instantly shot up when she opened her large eyes and stared up to me. “Annyong~” I said softly, careful not to scare her.

“JaeMin, say hello.” I looked up to see HyoYeon staring at the both of us. I couldn’t help but grin again then look down at the beautiful kid I was holding. It was as if she had fit my arms just perfectly.

“JaeMin? That’s your name?” I her head carefully. “It’s beautiful.” I lightly tapped her nose with my finger. Her small and tiny hands grabbed it. It’s said that once the moment a baby grabbed onto a mans finger, he’ll instantly know he was a father. I shouldn’t be feeling this with HyoYeon’s child though. Never should I. “Haha, she’s adorable.” I came back to reality and stared at HyoYeon.

“I have to go back to my house now, EunHyuk. Sorry.” She said softly to me. I nodded and safely put her back in the stroller, making sure her blanket was securely wrapped around her small body.

“It was nice seeing you, HyoYeon.” I smiled as I stood up straight and faced her. She nodded.

“Where are you going now?” She wondered as she zipped up her jacket higher up.

“I was just planning on going to buy some groceries. I have to go around the corner though, haha.”

“Really? I live just around that corner too.” She flashed me a killer smile. God, someone control this woman.

“Chincha…? Do you want to walk together then? If it’s okay…” I said slowly, making sure nothing would trigger any bad memories.

“Sure. Could use an extra hand if JaeMin starts crying.” She smirked. It was painful to watch. She still had the hint of hurt and sadness in her eyes. I could tell that she was still in love with DooJoon.

“Hyo…” I started as we began to walk down the side walk. My hands were shoved in my jacket pocket as she pushed the stroller. “He made a mistake, you know that right?” I glanced at her as we were slowly turning the corner.

“Yes, EunHyuk.” She tried to chuckle but it came out wrong. “I know, any guy would be lucky to be with me, hey?” HyoYeon looked up and made a half smile before looking forward again. Her hands were almost purple. It was then I realized she was cold.

“Let me help you with that.” I mumbled and grabbed the handle bars, pushing the cart towards me and now pushing it. She began to protest, but I stopped her. “Just put them in your pockets and warm up.”

“This is where I stay.” HyoYeon suddenly stopped and faced the house, sighing deeply. “Guess this is good-bye.” She shrugged and took the baby stroller back.

“Hyo-“ I began but got cut off as I stepped in a huge puddle of water from the rain last night. “Ah shoot.” I grumbled and flicked the water off my shoes. A giggle was heard from the woman standing in front of me. She came towards me, grabbed my hand, and pulled me in.

“C’mon, let’s go. I’ll get you a new sock… And maybe a pair of shoes.” She snickered as we glanced down at my drenched sneakers.

“Yeah, thanks.” I could barely pay attention due to the skinship. She was holding my hand.

The living room was … Well, roomy. It was painted a light yellow, making it quite friendly and a nice environment. “The room’s nice.” I said, loudly enough that HyoYeon, in the other room, could hear.

“Yeah, he and I painted it when we moved. Didn’t like how there was so much white.” She came back, holding a pair of socks and sneakers. “He.. Left a pair or two, haha.” She threw them at me and went back to the kitchen. I gave her a light thank you and changed. The shoes fit perfectly.

“I should get going now,” I stood up and walked to the front door. I couldn’t endure staying in this room for too long. Knowing that DooJoon and her shared many loving moments here.

“Okay, wait up.” She called, following me behind as I opened the door widely. I stepped out and turned around, looking at HyoYeon one last time. Her long blonde hair from the last time I saw her was now cut to her shoulder length, with a tint of brown mixed in with her dirty blonde. “You look good, Hyo.” I smiled.

“Thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself.” She smiled back and shrugged, holding onto the door knob. “Guess I’ll see you around then?” She asked while looking back to JaeMin. This was my chance. I took a large stride forward and pulled HyoYeon to me. Her gasp filled my ears but I ignored it.

“I’m sorry about everything, HyoYeon-ah. I just wanted to say I missed you. Sorry.” I hugged her tighter, sniffling just slightly to take in her strawberry vanilla smell she always had before. It was the same.

                Silence.

Her arms suddenly wrapped around my body too and she relaxed from her stiffened position. “I missed you too, Oppa. It was nice seeing you again.” Her hand rubbed my back and patted it twice for good luck before she released me.

“Will I be able to see you again?” I asked without thinking. I covered my mouth, hoping I didn’t hurt her feelings.

“Sure.” She grinned and laughed.  “See you later, Oppa.” I said goodbye and she shut the door.

I don’t know how long I stood there for. It was maybe 5 minutes before I knocked on her door again. I had to say one thing that was on my mind from the past few years. The door opened and her face flashed with shock.

“Oppa? Why are you still here?”

“I just wanted to say….” I sighed and looked straight in her light brown eyes that shimmered in the light.

“Yes?” Her doll eyes blinked and her head tilted slightly to the left like she had always done in the past. I couldn’t help but pull her into another hug, this time I whispered in her ear before she could react. I felt her heart beat against my chest quickly before I spoke.

“I love you. Are you willing to give me a second chance?” I held my breath and waited for her response. I didn’t know what to expect. HyoYeon had always been unpredictable. After a long silent wait, she exhaled loudly then went on her tippy toes, making her lips barely touch my ears.

“Everyone deserves a second chance.” Her voice was light and heavenly sounding in my ears. “If you’re willing to take care of me and JaeMin, I’m willing to give you one.”

I pulled away and lightly grabbed the sides of her face, “Forever, HyoYeon.” I tilted my head to the right and leaned in.

Just before I touched her lips, I breathed out, “I love you.” My lips then met with an angel. Her lips were finally connected with mine after for so long. "I've waited for so long." I sighed as we pulled apart.

"For what?" She asked while knotting our fingers together.

"I waited for the day I could see your eyes pulling up to half cresents for me." After saying this, she instantly smiled and my heart beated quickly.

"You loser." HyoYeon hit my arm lightly.

Smiling again, I exhaled. "I promise HyoYeon, I'll keep this promise. I'll take this 2nd chance to heart."

"I believe you." She looked at my eyes and smiled. "You're the one I trust now, oppa. Don't break it." I grinned and craddled her face in my hands again. Right before I pulled her into another kiss, I looked into her eyes and I could tell they were full of trust and it wouldn't be changing for a while now.

"Never." I chuckled and placed my lips onto her for the 2nd time today.
