Taehyung and Minki eating and Namjoo sending love!

Chapter 44

"And then we told them that we were dating," Kyungsoo ended the story.

"And of course the reason why we didn't tell them beforehand," Jongin added. Kyungsoo nodded. The older kids had come in during the middle of the story, hearing the end of it, and Chanhee couldn't help but laugh.

"I can't believe you faked for so long," he said.

"Yeah, and went that far," Aron agreed. "Uncle Kyungsoo, I didn't think that you would do that kind of thing."

"What?" Kyungsoo asked a bit bewildered.

"You know, acting like that. I didn't think you were the revenge kind of guy," Aron said.

"Oh please!" Baekhyun exclaimed. Aron raised an eyebrow. "You don't know the first thing about Kyungsoo!" Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes and glared at Baekhyun. "He's got a devil inside of him," Baekhyun whispered in an exaggerated loud voice, obviously to let everyone hear him. The kids giggled.

"Really?" Aron asked, his brow raised once again. He looked at Kyungsoo, contemplating. "He's just so..." He searched for a word.

"So what?" Kyungsoo asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked at his nephew.

"Soft," Luna said, ending Aron's sentence and Aron nodded as he agreed on the word. Kyungsoo looked from one to another, and Baekhyun only laughed at his niece's word.

"Soft?" Kyungsoo repeated. Luna nodded.

"I mean, it's not a bad thing," she hurriedly said "It's just..." She didn't know what to say.

"You're so sweet, papa. Not like auntie Baekhyun and appa," Namjoo said, still concentrating on her drawing.

"Wait what?" Jongdae asked her. "I'm not sweet too?" Namjoo looked up at him and stared at him with her innocent big eyes.

"Not as papa." She turned her attention back to the paper. Jongdae looked at her with wide eyes, obviously surprised and taken aback. The other parents laughed and Kyungsoo tried hiding a smile.

"Wait, Namjoo, aren't your appa sweet too?" Jongdae gained back her attention. She thought for a second before she nodded.

"You're sweet too. When papa's mad, you're sweeter." Again, the parents laughed and she continued drawing, oblivious to her own words. Jongdae looked hurt.

"But why were you so surprised that I faked it all?" Kyungsoo asked after a while, getting back to the original conversation. Aron shrugged.

"Just that you're so kind, I didn't figure you would want revenge to that extend," he said.

"Wait, does nobody think I'm sweet?" Jongdae interrupted.

"Wait, hold on," Jongin said, before anyone could answer the hurt Jongdae's question. "Did you think I was that kind of guy?" Jongin looked around at the kids. They shrugged.

"Well, you're more... what do you say... you're kind of more hardcore," Aron replied. Jongin smirked.

"So you're saying he's not nice either?" Jongdae asked. Aron furrowed his eyebrows.

"No, he's really nice."

"I don't think that's what Namjoo meant, uncle Jongdae," Luna said and Jongdae turned to her.

"I think what she tried to say was that uncle Kyungsoo is down-to-earth and sweet, while you, uncle Jongdae, is more lively and all-around and can take a stand," Sohee tried to help.

"So Kyungsoo's a pushover?" Yi Fan said.

"I'm not a pushover!" Kyungsoo exclaimed.

"I didn't say that!" Sohee objected. Baekhyun just laughed.

"To be fair, being hardcore was just an image Jongin had," Chanyeol said. "While Kyungsoo is... well he wasn't as innocent as he looked."

"What?!" Kyungsoo exclaimed.

"Hey!" Jongin said offended. "I'm at least more hardcore than both you and Kyungsoo are ever going to be."

"I didn't say that you aren’t sweet, appa," Namjoo suddenly said. Jongdae looked at her. "You're both sweet, and you're more fun than papa is. Plus, papa can get really mad! He's scary then. But you're always sweet." Jongdae smiled at her and hugged her from behind. Now it was Kyungsoo's turn to look offended and hurt. Jongdae smirked at him as if he won some kind of competition. But Kyungsoo just looked genuinely sad.

"Oh come on, don't take it so seriously, Soo," Jongdae tried, but Kyungsoo just looked at him and didn't say anything.

"Yeah, don't cry, squishy Soo," Baekhyun said teasingly, trying to make him smile, but Kyungsoo just glared at him.

"Don't call him that," Jongdae said. Baekhyun looked at him a bit surprised. "Kyungsoo..." he began, although he didn't know what to say. Not while all the kids listened intensely.

Nobody said anything, everyone feeling the tension in the room. It wasn't that they could feel Kyungsoo being mad at anyone, but they could all tell - all the adults - that his daughter’s words had affected him. It was quiet around them, except for Jonghyun's light breathing in and out, as he had fallen asleep during the story.

"So should we perhaps start preparing dinner?" Yi Fan said and broke the silence surrounding them. He stood from his chair.

Yixing looked at his watch. "Yeah, it's around 5 pm now."

"Anybody wants to help?" Yi Fan asked the kids when Yixing stood next to him.

"Me!" Taehyung said and made a final line on the paper in front of him, before standing from the floor. Then he took the paper in his hand and turned around, handing it to Chanyeol. "Here, appa, I made it for you!" he said with a smile and Chanyeol took it.

"Wow, thank you, Taehyung. It's really pretty." He smiled at his son. And Taehyung went into the kitchen, holding Yixing's hand.

"I want to help too." Minki also stood and went into the kitchen. Yi Fan followed behind when nobody else seemed to want to help.

Kyungsoo stood with Jonghyun in his arms and walked towards the kids' bedroom. Jongdae put Namjoo on the floor and went after him.

"Kyungsoo," he said when he came inside the room. Kyungsoo had quietly and carefully put the sleeping Jonghyun down on his bed, and he stood back up to look at his husband.

"Kyungsoo," Jongdae turned his voice to a whisper so he wouldn’t wake up their son. "You know Namjoo didn't mean anything with what she said; she's only 6 years old."

"That's easy for you to say; she didn't call you no fun," Kyungsoo whispered back and crossed his arms as he looked away.

"No, but she did say that I was not sweet."

"And afterwards she said you are sweet all the time! Apparently, our kids are afraid of me."

"They're not afraid of you..." Jongdae said and Kyungsoo was about to interrupt, so he hurried to continue, "You are sweet and caring and extremely fun. You know when it's time to be serious and when it's time to joke around. Our kids have the deepest respect for you and they love you. When they get older, well, I dread that they won't listen to me when I say they can't go to a certain party or that they should be in bed by ten. They listen to you. And they can have fun with you." Jongdae had moved closer and wrapped his arms around Kyungsoo, who still stood with his arms crossed. "Don't think otherwise." He kissed his cheek and then, before Kyungsoo managed to say anything, he went out of the room.

In the kitchen Yi Fan and Yixing had given tasks to the two kids and they were now standing on footstools by the table. Yixing put some carrots on a cutting board for Minki and some green onions for Taehyung. Minki stared down at the carrots with scrunched nose.

"I don't want carrots," he said and Yixing turned to him, before he found the pots.

"Why not?" he asked him.

"I don't like them," Minki answered.

"What are you talking about? You always eat them," Yi Fan commented, clearly remembering that the boy hadn't complained the other days when there were also carrots in the food.

"But I don't like them," Minki repeated. "I don't like vegetables."

"I doubt that either your appa or eomma let you eat around your vegetables," Yi Fan stated.

"Well, they don't know I don't like them. They always put them in our food," Minki said and crossed his arms with a pout.

"That's too bad," Yixing said and knelt, so the boy stood taller than him. He looked up at him with a friendly smile. "You know, vegetables make you grow and they make you taller too. Carrots are actually good for both your eyes and your skin," he told him. Minki seemed to consider what Yixing told him, but then came back to his senses.

"I don't care. I don't want them," Minki kept.

"Well, I don't care about that," Yi Fan said, changing tactic to being a stricter uncle, instead of empathic. "Do you want me to tell your appa or eomma that you refuse to eat vegetables? I'm sure they won't like that." Minki suddenly looked slightly nervous. What if he told them? "I thought so. Just start cutting the vegetables."

Minki pouted but took the knife and started cutting the carrots in front of him nonetheless. Yixing smiled at the boy and stood back up. His hand brushed against Yi Fan's as he went past him and Yi Fan smiled at him.

"I love vegetables!" Taehyung exclaimed and took a big bite of one of the green onions he needed to cut in smaller sizes. Yixing mentally rolled his eyes at him, because now they couldn't use the whole onion, but couldn't help but smile at him whatsoever.

"That's nice, Taehyung," Yixing said. "Do you want to eat that?"

Taehyung's facial expression changed as he shook his head and spat out the green onion he had in his mouth. Minki laughed at him. "That's not delicious," Taehyung stated with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. Yixing laughed heartily at the sight.

"Here, drink some water." He handed the kid a glass of cold water to wash away the taste from his mouth. While Taehyung drank, Yixing cut the end, Taehyung had taken a bite of, away from the rest of the onion. "Remember that the taste changes when it's cooked!" Minki glared at him before rolling his eyes.

Ji Yong had woken up by the time the dinner was ready, yet he didn't want to eat anything. Minseok forced him to eat at least a small carrot, just to get his stomach back in function again. It took the whole meal for him to finish the carrot. Jonghyun also woke up at dinner time and sat beside his papa as they ate. Yi Fan didn't mention Minki's dislike of vegetables to either of his parents, but silently made sure he at least tried every kind, occasionally looking at him, making Minki silently obey without a need of words being said.

"Appa, what power do you have?" Hayoung asked suddenly. Sehun, who was sitting some seats away from her, turned his head and looked at his daughter. "Sohee unnie told me that you all have powers. What is yours?" Hayoung, Sohee, Namjoo, Sandara, Byunghun and Amber sat in one end, and apparently Sohee had told them about the former EXO members' ‘abilities’. The talk around the table slowly went silent, everyone turning their attention to that conversation.

"I said that they did have powers as part of their image. They don't really," Sohee explained, clearing up any possible misunderstandings.

"My eomma and appa do!" Taehyung said. He sat in the other end with Aron, Chanhee, Changjo, Luna, Junhong and Minki.

"Do what?" Zitao asked.

"Have powers!"

Some people couldn't hide their laughs and the little kid looked confused around at them all.

"They do!" he exclaimed. "My appa has fire and my eomma has light. Appa always says to eomma that he's the light of his life, and eomma says that appa is the fire of his heart. It's true!" The facial expressions around him all changed from being amused to being awed at how cute it was. Baekhyun and Chanyeol were both quietly blushing strongly.

"Aw that's so cute! Baekkie!" Jongdae said and hugged his friend who was sitting beside him. Baekhyun just kept blushing, feeling embarrassed.

"If I had a super power, it would be the ability to see through walls. Or just some awesome glasses to make me see through them," Aron said.

"Why?" Luna asked.

Aron shrugged. "Just so I could see what people were doing outside the room," he answered.

"I'd want to stop time," Minki said. "And to teleport!"

"Me too!" Taehyung said. "I want to teleport too." Jongin smirked.

"Hey, why don't you want your appa or eomma's power?" Baekhyun asked him.

"Because you already have it," Taehyung answered as simple as it was. "Besides, then we'd have three powers. And with mine, we could travel around the world in no time!" He smiled brightly at the thought. Baekhyun smiled at him.

"I want teleportation too," Changjo said. "Then I could travel the world every day!" Jongin's smirk turned into a smile.

"I'd want to be a robot," Junhong stated silently.

"That's not a super power," Chanhee said.

"Why do you want to be a robot, Junhong?" Sehun asked his son, ignoring Chanhee's comment.

"Because they're cool!" the little boy exclaimed and smiled happily at his appa, who smiled back.
