Chapter 18
How I Met Your AppaChapter 18
Joonmyun was awakened by the gentle sunlight shining in through the window. He opened his eyes and looked at his wife and he couldn't help but smile. He leaned over and kissed her forehead.
"Good morning," he mumbled as her eyes twitched. She smiled and opened her eyes, looking at him.
"Good morning."
After a while, Joonmyun mumbled, "I want to just stay in here." He wrapped his arms around Taeyeon and the two lay close to each other in the bed. They stared in each other's eyes, examining every inch of their features.
"Me too," Taeyeon whispered. She leaned closer and kissed her husband's lips. Joonmyun answered that kiss, by kissing her cheeks, forehead, eyelids and all over her face. Taeyeon giggled. Their lips locked once more.
After breakfast some of the kids wanted to swim - yet again. Aron, Byunghun and Chanhee were playing in the water together with Taehyung, Jonghyun and Changjo. Chanyeol was of course also in the water to keep an eye on the kids - or that was what he was supposed to do; instead he played together with them like the biggest child of them all. Luckily Aron was surprisingly responsible and made sure that everyone had a good time without drowning or anything near dangerous.
The girls were playing inside - both the 9 year old, 7 year old, 6 year old and the 4 year old. All except Amber who was sitting on the couch reading a book. Junhong was playing with Yixing with some toy cars on the grass outside. And Minki was standing by the edge of the swimming pool wearing his swim shorts. He kept looking down at the blue swimming pool and the water splashing around due to the motion of the others. He was pouting.
"Aren't you going to get in?" Taemin put his hand on Minki's shoulder, motioning to the water in front with a nod by his head, and apparently this made Minki get his motions back, as he shook his head and ran back into the house. Taemin sighed worriedly, turned around and shook his head when Jongin looked questioningly at him. Even though Jongin had talked with Joonmyun, he couldn't help but feel bad for the little kid and slightly responsible for the past accident. He couldn't help but have a bad conscience.
Taemin took Jongin's hand and the two went back into the house.
"Joonmyun," Lu Han walked towards Joonmyun who sat with Taeyeon on the couch. "We need to talk."
Joonmyun looked surprised at him. "What about?"
"About Amber. And Minki," Lu Han said and sat down next to Joonmyun. Taeyeon looked as worried and curious at him as her husband did. "I talked a bit with Amber yesterday. She seemed quite shocked and worried. I really think you should talk to her." He looked at Amber's parents seriously. "And I talked with Taemin. He told me that Minki were standing by the edge of the pool for quite some time, and finally when Taemin asked him to jump in, he just shook his head and ran inside. I saw him whisper to Amber and the two left to Minki's room. I think they need you."
Joonmyun and Taeyeon looked at each other.
"Thank you, Lu Han hyung," Joonmyun said and him and Taeyeon stood from the couch, and left to go to Minki and the boys' room. Joonmyun knocked on the door.
"Yeah?" Amber's voice was heard from inside, and Joonmyun turned the doorknob. He and Taeyeon went inside the room, where they found Amber and Minki sitting on Minki's bed. He hadn't changed his clothes and was sitting in only his swim shorts with Amber's arm around him.
"What is it?" Amber asked, when she saw her parents come in. Taeyeon closed the door behind them, and they sat on the bed opposite of Minki's.
"We would like to talk to you," Joonmyun answered.
"How are you?" Taeyeon asked Minki, who looked at the floor.
"I'm fine," he mumbled.
"We heard about you not wanting to swim. Is there a specific reason?" she asked.
Minki shook his head.
"He just didn't want to," Amber responded.
"Is it because you're afraid something might happen? Like the thing yesterday?" Taeyeon asked Minki gently, ignoring Amber. Minki looked up at his eomma and slowly nodded. Taeyeon sighed and went over to him to take his hand.
"I promise you, it's not going to happen. You don't have to worry about that. And if it does," she added and put her arms around her son. "Me or your father - or anyone of the others for that matter - will hurry and get you up, safe and sound. I promise." She kissed his forehead and Minki hugged her back.
"You don't have to fear about anything, son," Joonmyun said and Minki turned his head to look at him. "We'll be there for you." He smiled at Minki.
"If he doesn't want to swim, just let him be," Amber exclaimed.
"Amber." Taeyeon turned to her daughter. "We're sorry we haven't been around you more, as this took place. We know it must be hard for you, too." Amber just glared at her.
"Amber, you're a strong and brave girl, and a really good older sister. You care so much about Minki and we know you must be shocked and worried about him, as much as we are, but we really wish that you would talk to us. You don't have to go through this alone. Both of you." Joonmyun looked from Amber to Minki. "Rely on us. We're your parents and we love you."
Amber and Minki looked at each other and then at their parents.
"I think we should spent a day only for us. Like a family day off. We could walk around the city, looking at the attractions and markets, we could go shopping, buy you some new clothes and toys, and in the evening we could eat delicious food." Joonmyun looked around at his family with a smile. "What do you think?"
"I think it's a brilliant idea," Taeyeon said with a smile, and looked at the kids.
"Well." Amber was the one to answer. "That would be nice. But we don't care about seeing some historical buildings or statues or eating expensive food. We're kids! We want to have fun." Minki nodded at her words, and they waited for their parents' response.
"Well," Joonmyun said, and the two parents looked at each other. "How about this," he turned to the kids, "we spent the evening in the city where we eat delicious food and buy some clothes and toys and such, and we spent the day..." he made a dramatic pause. "in the zoo!" Amber and Minki looked at each other with big grins. Then Amber turned nonchalantly, shrugged casually and looked at her parents.
"Sure."
Joonmyun smiled and ruffled her hair, making her laugh.
When the four people left the house, the others sat back in the living room, talking about what to do.
"Well, I would like to see the city. I haven't been down there yet," Yixing said.
"Me too; I want to go into shops or seeing things," Baekhyun agreed.
"Then let's do that!" Jongdae said with a smile.
"All of us?" Chanyeol asked.
"We have to talk to the kids firstly," Lu Han said. "If someone doesn't want to go, at least one adult needs to stay here. Or go somewhere else, of course."
"I don't care about staying back," Sehun said with a shrug. "If anyone doesn't want to go, that is."
"No, you have to come with us!" Zitao exclaimed, grabbing Sehun's arm with a pout. "We'll buy clothes! It'll be fun!"
"We're not going shopping all day, are we?" Minseok asked.
"Of course we are!" Zitao said, looking blaming at Minseok. Minseok just rolled his eyes at the younger.
"Let's just ask the kids if they want in, before deciding who'll stay back," Yi Fan said and stood up, walking to the terrace door, to call for the kids to come.
When the kids came inside, they placed themselves in front of the couches, waiting patiently for their parents to tell them what was going on.
"We were thinking about going to the city today," Lu Han told them. "Is that something you would like to?"
"Do I have to go?" Sandara asked, sounding like she didn't really care either way.
"Yes," Kyungsoo said, and they could hear by his voice that that was the end of the discussion.
"What are we going to do there?" Aron asked.
"Different things: shop, looking at attractions. It depends on what's down there," Yi Fan said.
Aron nodded and contemplated. "Can I get some new clothes then?" he asked his dad and baba.
"If you find something you like to a decent price, then maybe," Yi Fan replied and Aron nodded at the response.
"Okay," he said.
"Can I get some new things too?" Ji Yong asked his parents.
Minseok looked at Lu Han. "I'm not in charge of the shopping."
Lu Han sighed. "If I agree on what you find, then yes."
"I don't want to go shopping," Jonghyun said and looked at Jongdae. "There's no point. Either way, you'll just find me something weird to wear."
"What? I think it's cute!" his appa said. "And it fits you."
Jonghyun raised his eyebrow and looked at his other dad for support.
Kyungsoo turned to Jongdae. "It's weird." Jongdae looked offended and pouted.
When it was around twelve o'clock, the cars left the house. All of them had agreed on going: well some of them didn't seem to care, but their parents decided to bring them along. And they had decided to split up into two groups: the ones who wanted to shop for clothes, and the ones who wanted to explore the city, looking at attractions and other things. So when they arrived at the city, they found a parking lot and split up: the shopping group looking for some nice stores, and the others relaxingly starting to explore the city.
"Dad, let's go in there!" Aron said and pointed at a store selling clothes. Yi Fan nodded and they all went inside the store.
Sehun and Zitao went over to some racks with jackets, Junhong by Sehun's hand.
"Oh, Sehun! Look at this jacket, isn't that perfect for me?" Zitao showed a black leather jacket to Sehun with a big smile on his face. He put it on and turned all the way round, like a ballet dancer.
"Hold on," Sehun said and turned Zitao, so his back was facing him. "It says 'y' on it."
"I know! Perfect!" Zitao said with a grin. Sehun rolled his eyes at him, and walked towards the children section with Junhong, leaving Zitao and the jacket behind. Zitao continued wearing the jacket, as he looked around the store for more clothing.
At the children section of the store, Baekhyun and Jongdae were looking at clothes for their kids.
"This is so cute!" Jongdae said and took out a pink shirt with a duck.
"For whom?" Baekhyun grinned.
"I don't know, either of the kids!" Jongdae grinned back. "They can share."
"Sure," Baekhyun said and laughed.
"I love to buy things for the kids. Everything is so adorable in mini size!" Baekhyun exclaimed and took a pair of blue jeans.
"Auntie, this is so pretty! Can I have it?" Luna - followed by Namjoo - came over to Baekhyun with a pink dress with laces.
"It's gorgeous, Luna," Baekhyun said and took it to examine closer. He nodded. "You can have it." Luna smiled.
"Thank you, auntie," she said and went back to where she'd been before.
In the meantime Aron was trying on a pair of pants. Yi Fan was waiting outside the dressing room.
"How's it going?" Yi Fan called through the door to Aron. Aron opened the door and showed the pants he was now wearing. "They look good! How are they feeling?" he asked his son.
Aron thought about it for a moment, nodded and said, "Good! Can I have them?" Yi Fan looked at the price tag and hesitated. "Please, dad, baba reminded you himself that I need new jeans. I promise that I won't wear these out as quickly!"
Yi Fan sighed, but smiled. "Okay. You can have them."
"Thanks," Aron said and turned around to change back to his old jeans again.
"Uncle Yi Fan." Ji Yong came over to Yi Fan. "Will you please help me find some clothes? I really want something new, and baba is not of very much help."
"What are you talking about?" Lu Han exclaimed, walking over to them, as he had followed Ji Yong, holding a green dress shirt in his hand. "This is nice. And it would suit you, Ji Yong, for a reasonable price even."
Ji Yong raised his eyebrow, looking at Lu Han and then at Yi Fan for help. Yi Fan had furrowed his eyebrows as he saw the shirt.
"Why does that remind me so much of our EXO days?" he said, but shook his head. "Sure, I'll help you." He turned to Lu Han. "Maybe you could wait for Aron then? He's in the dressing room, changing back to his own clothes." Lu Han nodded, and Yi Fan and Ji Yong left to look around the store.
Close by them, Jongin, Taemin, Byunghun and Chanhee stood, looking for clothes for all of them. They were right now looking at some cheap but nice shirts. Zitao came over to them - still wearing the leather jacket.
"Hey!" he greeted and showed Taemin a pink t-shirt. "Isn't this your style?" He laughed. He folded it out and revealed a red rose printed on its front.
Both Taemin and Jongin scowled in his direction.
"Stop teasing my baby!" Jongin said with gritted teeth. "Besides, I think it's more your style, Zitao. Don't you love pink? Or are you afraid a bug might think it's a real flower?" Zitao's facial expression quickly changed from his grinning face to a scowling, almost pouting look. He his heel with his nose to the sky, incidentally revealing the inscription on his back. Jongin couldn't help but laugh.
"What's that, Zitao? You're 'y'? Haven't you learned you are not supposed to tell lies?" Jongin smirked and Taemin laughed. Zitao pretended not to hear him, and quickly retreated, supposedly going to find Sehun.
