Chapter 4:

A Bang In The Heart

When I returned home, Sua as she said, was not there. I decided I would start looking for a job in the evening since I only teach until noon.
I walked outside out of our ghetto looking neighborhood and went to the more richer looking area of Hapjeong dong. When I went in to see if any of the stores were hiring, all of them said they couldn't hire any new people, especially a foreigner like me who didn't as they said, "look Korean". They all were friendly in rejecting me but I could easily see that I intimidated them a bit. By the time I went around the entire area of cafes and stores, I started heading home at about 9 o'clock.
I felt a little depressed and unworthy of my self and my head automatically slung down in sadness. I was hungry, tired and rejected.
My stomach growled loudly as I hurriedly tried to prepare my dinner of a simple ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of cup ramen, my favorite combination.
When the ramen was ready, I began to dig my chopsticks in when I heard a loud yell.
"FINE THEN!!!!" I heard the neighbor's door swing open.
I quickly dropped my chopsticks and ran over to my front door. I peeped outside through the little eye hole. Someone with long flowy brown hair stormed out of the house and slammed the door.
"Hooooly" I whispered quietly trying to keep my excitement under control. I loved drama and was about to get something good right in front of me.  Where's the popcorn?
The door swung open again and a man raced out.
"JIHAE-YA!" He wore dark jeans, a black sweatshirt and his hood covered half his face. But not all of him was covered. Underneath his hood, I saw... few strands of blond hair with... blue at the edges.
My breath seemed to stop and there was this weird feeling in my stomach that made it hard for me to swallow. My chest tightened uncomfortably.
It couldn't be. No, no it definitely couldn't be...
I opened my door just a crack, wincing my eyes in hopes not to make a sound.
The two figures were standing underneath the yellow glowing street lamp that looked like a stage light in the pitch black night.
"I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT!!! EVERY NIGHT EVERY DAY!" The girl yelled out and her face looked frustrated. She had a very pretty and petite face which complimented her slim and tiny figure.
"I'm sorry about what I did, but I'm not sorry that this couldn't last." The girl shook her head and a tear crept out of her eye. "I don't want this anymore oppa." She wiped her tear off and swallowed hard.

What the hell was going on right now?? I tried to open the door up a little bit more to see but the door creaked a bit too much.
"Shiiiiiiiiiit. " I mouthed trying to back up.
But thankfully they didn't notice because the guy began to talk. I could only see his back.
"Then what the hell am I supposed to do?? Just stop... all of this?? Just quit?!" He gathered his hands in to two tight fists in agony.
No no no... Stop. His voice was all too familiar for me. My palms began to sweat and every little hair on my body stood up.
The girl looked at him with sad wary eyes. "That's just it. I-I can't let you do that!! That's why... That's why..."
"Are you serious?! D-don't do this to me Jihae!!" He put his hands on his head and shook his head.
"Goodbye...Please don't call me again. I love...him alot." She sunk her head down and walked away until I couldn't see her anymore.
The guy sat down on the ground with his up to his face and took a deep sigh. It was the same sigh I've been hearing for the past few nights. It was a sigh full of disappointment and genuine sadness. Like as if he had been through every option but couldn't find an answer.
I just stood there leaning carefully on my door and just watched him. I looked at his back for so long I didn't realize what time it was until-
GRROOOOWWWLLLLLL. I looked down at my stomach to see what ferocious beast had made that devilish noise. Uh oh. I felt another one coming on!! What do I do?? What do I do?? In panic mode, My fingers wrapped around the door knob and pulled slowly to close the do-
CREEEAAAAAAAKKKK. but of course it had to sound like a chainsaw massacre at that moment.
Just a little more.... Just a little bit more CREEEEAA-
"If you listened to all of that, you might as well just come out"
My heart dropped. Wait What? Did he just talk to me??
The guy stood up, turned around and pulled his hood down.
Those blonde locks and blue tips. Those cold eyes. That slim face. That sly looking grin. And that look.
My eyes flung out of my eye sockets when I came to my senses who it was. It hit me like a rocket and my mouth dropped open.
"JIYONG-SHI."

He gave a small scoff. "It's a small world, isn't it?"
"B-but I. I d-didn't mean to, I mean I-I had no clue you were-" I desperately tried to explain.
"It's okay" Jiyong held a finger up to his lips. "Just keep it a secret"
His eyes weren't red and didn't look at all like he cried or anything.
Was he okay? I mean I just saw him get dumped by someone. That's gotta be devastating for him! But he didn't look any different than he looked yesterday.
Jiyong grinned with his eyes looking emotionless.
His phone made a small chime noise and he reached in his pocket to check his text.
"Uhh..." He looked into my eyes and raised his eyebrows.
"Remi-shi, are you a good drinker?"
