“Are you hungry?” Hannah asks when they come to tables lined up with food.

“You have asked me already,” Kyung Ho laughs. “Nuna, you are too happy to have me here.”

“You better be happy to be here,” she warns him and he laughs again, assuring he is happy to be here.

They walk up to the tables and Hannah hands him a plate, asking what he wants to eat. They walk around to see what kind of food there is first, and Hannah gets to show off some Japanese knowledge whenever he asks her what this and that is – and she has probably learnt them in Japanese because of the crew. He is introduced to some more people when getting the food, and he laughs at Hannah mixing up the languages when talking to him. Always, she makes him laugh, and to see him laugh makes her laugh. They are such easy people.

“Could we go outside and eat? Can we do that?” Kyung Ho asks when he has gotten his food.

“Um… sure,” Hannah shrugs her shoulders.

“It is summer outside, Nuna, you should enjoy it,” Kyung Ho tells her in a tone as if he knows better than her. Hannah laughs at it, asking what he knows about that and Kyung Ho smiles widely. “We can pretend it is a picnic.”

“Ha-ha! Let’s bring a blanket then,” Hannah laughs.

They go outside with their plates of food, and Hannah runs a little further away to get a blanket from their van, that she then spreads out on the asphalt next to the backdoor and they sit down in the sun to eat. Kyung Ho keeps smiling in the sun when eating, and he doesn’t care when someone comes outside. Those that smokes all walk further away to not have the boy breathe in the smoke – Hannah tells them to go further away, so they do that – and then a few others comes outside just to enjoy the weather. Maria comes outside too, and she asks why she didn’t come up with the idea to take a blanket so she can lie down, so she goes to get her own blanket before joining them.

It is hot sitting in the sun, but it seems like Kyung Ho isn’t bothered by it. He keeps eating (Hannah is so glad he is eating a lot) and talks to them a lot, while Hannah keeps leaning back to face the sun.

Around the time when Maria has lied down, they can hear the group of fans further away screaming louder. Why, none of them know, but Maria raises her hand to wave though she is lying down. Fans are kept on a distance, there is even police guarding to make sure fans doesn’t get closer, just to let the crew and 5 Pieces come outside on the back to get some fresh air. Hannah turns a little more to Kyung Ho, just to try hide him from their fans.

Kyung Ho smiles at her.

“Will you watch my drama when it comes out?”

“When is that?” Maria suddenly asks loudly. She hasn’t taken her sunglasses off today.

“Um… in two-three weeks? But I’m not in the first two episodes,” Kyung Ho answers. He has such a childish voice, and he puts up two tiny fingers in the air when saying ‘first two episodes’. Maria always thinks he is five or six years old when she sees him, just because he is so tiny. Still, he has grown since he left the hospital, since he started to eat more. Hannah always makes sure he eats when he is with her, because that is the only times she can make sure he eats.

“All of us will watch it,” Maria is the one answering before Hannah can, and it makes the youngest girl smile widely at their leader. She likes him too.

“Will you? Will you be in Seoul then? Could we watch it together?” Kyung Ho shines up by the idea.

“You are asleep at that time,” Hannah tells him, knowing the drama will be aired late in the evening. Kyung Ho pouts, though he smiles again when Maria says they will try to watch it together with him. He reaches his tongue out at Hannah who just touches his cheek lightly. “Finish your plate,” she tells him and Maria laughs this time. Hannah is such a mother around younger kids.

“Manager Lim got our schedule inside, we can look at them later,” Maria tells the boy while lying there, “to see if we maybe could have a sleepover for you to see the episode together. Would you like that?”

“Yes!”

They laugh at his enthusiasm.

Fans that are standing far away get a big treat to watch them sit out there. For fans, every glimpse of an idol means a lot, and for Puzzle (5 Pieces’ fan club) they are lucky their idols treat them on these things often. 5 Pieces are great with fan service and to show glimpses of themselves to their fans that make them go insane and never bored, which they do now. Maria is pretty and relaxed where she is lying on her back and trying to get a tan in her summer clothes, and she is talking to Hannah and this unknown little boy, the two sitting together laughs from time to time but what fans enjoy the most is to see how much fun they seem to have by these small things – things that you don’t see idols do when they always are busy with their schedules. Simple things, ordinary things that fans are used to do.

And then Emelia comes outside with two excited puppies that all fans of 5 Pieces know about. The little boy runs up on his feet to play with them along with Emelia, and the fans gets to see the children in 5 Pieces playing around at the back in the middle of the day. Their voices go louder, so the fans can hear them laugh and call on the puppies. The little boy calls for the puppy after Hannah and he gets excited when the puppy gets excited to be called on. Each time Hannah calls on the puppies – though she mostly just laughs – the puppy will come to her on demand.

“I want to do that too,” Kyung Ho happily says when sitting down next to Hannah on the blanket again when Ryo has run up to her, so Hannah is patting him where he is standing on her legs sitting tailor.

“Tell him to come and clap your hands together,” Hannah tells him and Kyung Ho sits better on the blanket to get a little further away. He does as she instructs and Ryo happily runs to him as Hannah stops touching him. Kyung Ho cheers happily for succeeding, asking Maria if she saw but she gives no response, just lying there in the sun. He keeps laughing happily and Emelia says something about him being the second boss for the puppies. Kyung Ho likes to hear that and he runs up, clapping his hands and calls for the puppies when he runs around, having them brightly run after him.

 

Hannah has sat down in the room backstage, getting the papers of their schedule. Manager Lim tells her that they are busy changing a few things because of Carolina’s accident, so the notes on the papers are the changes they have now. Kyung Ho is running around in the corridor with Emelia and some from the crew.

“So when was the drama starting?” Maria wonders.

“I looked it up, and it will begin on May 14,” Hannah answers while looking at the schedule. “We aren’t in Korea that week. Appa, where are we that week? It doesn’t say anything, just ‘abroad’…”

“I will tell you on Monday,” Manager Lim answers. “And then the week after that, your drama filming here in Japan begins.”

Hannah is grimacing when seeing the schedule made for May so far. “I thought we were going back to Korea this week, after the tour has ended…”

“You won’t be back in Korea until the week after,” Manager Lim answers, taking a seat next to her to watch the schedule she is looking through. “You will be in Korea to film teasers for your next tour at that time, and also on Saturday it is the Dream Concert – which we are still wondering if you will attend. Only Maria might attend it, we still have to decide about that.”

“Because of me?” Hannah whispers, looking up at the manager who looks troubled at her question.

“You haven’t performed in Korea since it came out Hannah, we don’t know how your fans will react.”

“So you will let it go out on 5 Pieces?” she keeps whispering.

“We don’t even know if Carolina will be able to perform at that time, so it isn’t your fault, Hannah. Don’t think that.”

She nods and looks down at the papers, upset for that she is partly the reason they might not attend a Korean concert. “Kyung Ho won’t like it that I won’t be in Korea much these two upcoming months…”

Their conversation stops right away when Kyung Ho comes running inside the room, running straight up to Hannah with a bright smile in his face. He shows her something in his hand.

“Look! Emelia’s friend told me I could have this one, it is a ring, cool, right?” Kyung Ho sounds so happy showing the strange ring in his hand.

“Yes, it looks cool. He has one in gold too,” Hannah answers with a smile.

“This is in gold,” Manager Lim chuckles and points at the ring.

“Oh, my bad, he has one in si… silver?” she looks questioning at the ring and while the manager says there is another one in silver too, Kyung Ho’s smile is washed away. He just stands there and looks at Hannah; all fun has left his body.

Manager Lim laughs at his reaction, asking if he swallowed something that is stuck in his throat. Hannah doesn’t really know what her manager says, but she guesses it is some Korean play on words or something, though Kyung Ho doesn’t react on it which makes her ask him if something is wrong.

“You told me everything is fine,” the little boy tells her, and he sounds like he is going to cry.

Not just Hannah and Manager Lim reacts on his sudden change but a few others in the room reacts too. Hannah gets a surprise, asking what he is talking about but when she reaches down to put her arms around him; Kyung Ho hits her hands away, the tears visible in his eyes now.

“You lied to me!” he bursts out before he runs away.

Hannah stares after him with open and Manager Lim looks at her, asking what that was about. She shakes her head, not knowing, and she runs after the boy. Outside in the corridor she is directed by others to know where he went, and it doesn’t take long until she catches up to him.

“Kyung Ho!” she shouts when coming closer, stopping to run but walks faster to catch up with him. He is walking with his head down, crying. She calls his name again and he turns around, stopping in the corridor. “What did I lie to you about?”

He looks so young and vulnerable where he is standing with hands on his eyes as he is crying. Hannah sits down on her knees in front of him, looking terrified. Why is he crying? She hushes him to try stop him crying, and he takes some breaths, giving out the cutest sounds.

“You have told me you are fine after the accident,” Kyung Ho cries behind his hands, even getting a hiccup.

“I am. What makes you say so?” she sounds worried, and she is worried. Why does he say so?

“When we were at the hospital together, that woman … the teacher, was helping you.”

“Oh my god, Kyung Ho, it is no big deal, please,” Hannah bursts out when knowing what he is talking about and she holds him in a hug. “I never lied to you; I am fine from the accident. I got some problems with my memory at times and I mix up colours, but it doesn’t give me problem. Okay?”

He nods, but he keeps crying so she tries to comfort him.

“I don’t want you to be in Tokyo,” he cries when hugging her neck tighter. “You are too far away.”

“Sssh, you know I always go back and forth between countries, it is part of my work,” she whispers to him. She can’t hug him as tight as she wants; he seems so fragile in her arms. She wants him to stop crying, not knowing what to do with him. He cried when he saw her too, and it hurts to see him cry just to meet her.

“Not for this long!” he keeps crying. “You are never around, Nuna!”

“I’m sorry,” she keeps whispering to him, “I’m so sorry. You know I want to be there for you, all the time, I’m sorry for not being there.”

“Your Prince misses you too,” Kyung Ho whispers now in a low voice, “He doesn’t smile and he is no fun like this. He misses you.”

“Jonghyun said that?” Hannah is confused; Jonghyun hasn’t told her anything about not smiling.

“I want you to come back,” Kyung Ho whispers, crying quietly now. He keeps hugging her tightly so she can’t lean away, and he cries more when he says; “I want my sister back.”

And Hannah tries to hold back her own tears when he says that. “I never left you, Kyung Ho. I’m always there; just a little harder to reach.”

“I still want you back. I hate that you are in Tokyo, I hate it!”

“Hannah,” Manager Lee is heard behind them and Hannah turns around, still holding on to the boy crying in her arms. Kyung Ho doesn’t care someone is watching, he holds on even tighter when she turns around. Manager Lee looks like he doesn’t want to see what he has seen. “Um… they want you for the make-up…”

“I’ll be there,” she answers and turns back to Kyung Ho when Manager Lee leaves, though he hesitates as if he doesn’t know what to do first. Hannah holds on to the boy, feeling extremely sad. “I have to get ready, Kyung Ho.”

“No. Don’t leave me,” he cries.

“I’m not leaving you! Kyung Ho, you are going with me, okay?”

He shakes his head and holds a tight grip around her. “Don’t go.”

Hannah sighs, not knowing what to do with him.

“Did you come to Tokyo to stop me from performing, Kyung Ho?” she asks him quietly. He loosens his grip to lean back a little, looking at her with a child’s eyes.

“Will you come back to Seoul after the tour? Tomorrow is the last day, right?” he asks her, and his voice is filled with such hope that Hannah looks like she is going to cry at him. He sees the answer on her face-expression. “You are not coming back?! You told me you will come back after the last concert!” Kyung Ho shouts and he backs away, angry now.

“I know, I’m sorry, I thought I would but I looked a the schedule-”

“YOU PROMISED ME!” he shouts out loudly at her, his shoulders shaking.

“Kyung Ho,” Hannah whispers and holds on to his face, where he is crying again and he holds on to her hands. His hands are wet from tears.

“I don’t want to be alone, Nuna,” he cries.

She gives out a sound at his words. Hannah had no idea he felt lonely, and it hurts even more to have him tell her that. “It will be one more week, and then I’ll come back.”

“For how long?” he pouts.

Hannah shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t know,” she answers. She doesn’t want to tell him that they will film a drama in Japan for several weeks, maybe in the weekends go to Korea but she isn’t sure. She doesn’t want him to be angry or sad or upset or feel lonely just because she can’t be in the same country or city as him, and it makes her feel so bad to know he isn’t feeling good. “Kyung Ho, you need to know that this is what I do. I have a schedule to follow, I won’t always be in Korea but I will always be there to listen to you and talk to you. I try to give you as much time as I can, you have to believe that, but I can’t always be where you want me to be, even if I want to.”

He is pouting, but he has stopped crying.

“Do you understand what I mean, Kyung Ho?” she asks him quietly and he looks down, nodding.

“I am sorry,” he mutters and starts to wipe his tears. She helps him, holding his face close to hers.

“Can we go back now?” she asks him. “We won’t leave you alone; I will not leave you alone. But I have a concert to do now.”

 

Hannah fixes her hair and make-up before sitting down in the sofa with Kyung Ho. He has been sitting there, playing around with the puppies in silence while she was getting ready. He doesn’t seem to be in the same happy bright mood as he was before, though the other ladies have tried to make him laugh by telling jokes and such, he just … doesn’t laugh. Hannah gives him a peck on his hair, quietly talking to him while he has Ryo in his lap who they are both patting. Ryo keeps rolling around on his back comfortably.

“Why can’t you tour like this in Korea?” Kyung Ho asks Hannah in a low voice. “You haven’t done that, have you?”

“I don’t decide the schedule,” she answers, “It would be just as hard to meet me if we had a tour in Korea as it is now.”

“You never have time,” he mutters and lowers his head even more.

“Hey,” Hannah lightly tells him, “I give you the time I have.”

“That isn’t much.”

She suddenly puts her hand on his face, annoying him so Kyung Ho tries to take it away. She keeps doing the same thing, putting her hand in his face so he tries to take it away. “Don’t be upset when I try, okay?”

Kyung Ho looks up at her, looking like he will start to cry. He looks upset at her. “I still want you to come home,” he whispers. Hannah pouts with her lips when putting her arms around him, whispering that she isn’t far away and that it is just temporary she is in Japan. It isn’t like she will stop promoting in Korea, it is their home at this time; Seoul is their home. Some of the others in the room glance at each other, as they have quietly listened to them. Maria is sitting and frowning in the make-up chair. Never did she know Kyung Ho missed Hannah so much, and no one really likes to make a child feel bad. Maria looks up at Manager Lim who is busy trying to sort out their schedule now when Carolina is hurt.

“Come,” Hannah whisper to Kyung Ho before getting up on her feet, holding his hand to head out the room with him.

“Where are we going?” he asks when they are out in the corridor, Hannah’s hand leading him.

“You will see,” she answers. She smiles and talks to some in the crew when passing them and soon she walks out at concert hall with Kyung Ho. Some people are still preparing for the concert, like cleaning up on the stage and preparing with a few things, and Kyung Ho looks questioning at Hannah. She holds a better grip of his hand when starting to walk up on the main stage.

“Nuna…”

“I want you to see it,” she tells him and drops his hand when they are on the stage.

It is enormous to look out over the hall from here; Kyung Ho gets stuck when seeing it. The stage looks huge with its extra parts going around, but the whole arena is even bigger. He feels like an ant in the forest, amazed by its size.

“More than 13,000 people will be in here tonight,” Hannah tells him from the centre of the main stage, smiling a little when seeing his face-expression. “More than 13,000 fans of 5 Pieces, Kyung Ho, all of them will come here to watch us perform. It is magical to be on stage at that time, to have all these people enjoy our stage.”

Kyung Ho looks at her when she sits down on the stage, how she is looking out at the empty arena.

“It is a lot of people, Kyung Ho,” she tells him, “a lot of expectations to work for. I would love to just … pick you up after school and go to the amusement park with you or just be there when you are lonely, but… … I can’t do that. The only thing I could do for you now was to take you here, Kyung Ho, that is the only thing. My managers told me to focus on the concert, as we have rehearsals and practice and whatnot, especially with Carolina not being with us, but I wanted to see you.”

She gets quiet when Kyung Ho hugs her. Though she is sitting down, he just has to bend his back to reach down for her. He then sits down on her side, resting his head on her arm so she can’t stop smiling at him. His legs are so short when he stretches them out.

“Thank you for taking me here,” he tells her, “to Tokyo, to your concert…”

“You don’t hate it then?”

He shakes his head. “I like to be here. I just … would like it more if it was in Seoul.”

“It is fun to be abroad, you know; strange places and strange memories,” Hannah tells him.

“Emelia has told me that,” he chuckles. Hannah smiles and moves her arm to hold it around him.

“Are you ready to leave?” Manager Lee asks when Hannah comes to the backdoor.

The concert has ended and they will go home to the apartment here in Tokyo. She looks down on her side where Kyung Ho is standing, the boy is smiling tiredly. He has had a lot of fun during the concert, also to sit backstage before it to see how 5 Pieces are like when getting ready. He was fascinated by the sight, and he hasn’t said anything about that he wants Hannah to come back to Seoul since he went to the stage with her. Hannah smiles and puts her arm around his shoulders, he is so small and tiny, and she nods at her manager who opens the door and walks outside before them.

A loud bunch of fans starts to scream when the blonde girl gets visible, stepping out of the door. She lowers the cap that Kyung Ho is wearing, to hide his face, and she can feel how he holds on to her jacket to stay close to her. Light voices of fans calling her name are heard and Manager Lee shows Hannah to keep walking. He stays close to them when they are walking over to the van; police are trying to keep fans on a distance and the manager is just making sure Hannah and Kyung Ho are heading straight inside the van. Julia runs up behind them, placing a hand on Hannah’s shoulder when wanting them to hurry up. Kyung Ho gets inside the van first, the two girls behind him are waving to the fans a little before also disappearing inside the van. Fans keep making as much noise as possible, trying to be heard and Kyung Ho keeps turning around in his seat.

“It’s so many…” he whispers and turns back. “It’s always like this?”

“Always,” Julia nods, sitting on his other side while Hannah at the same time answers “pretty much”.

The others comes to sit too before they start to head to the apartment. Hannah checks her cell phone, seeing that Jonghyun has answered the text she wrote to him earlier. She asked him how he is doing and he writes for answer that he is doing well, watching some TV now and asking back if the concert went well and if Kyung Ho is having fun. Hannah doesn’t write an answer, instead she pouts as she is thinking of what Kyung Ho told her earlier today – that Jonghyun isn’t smiling. Why doesn’t he tell her that?

The van makes a stop by the apartment, and Hannah is smiling when seeing the boy leaning his head on her arm is sleeping. Together, they get him out of the van and Hannah is the one carrying him. Manager Lim takes his backpack and Hannah’s bag, just because Hannah wouldn’t let him carry the boy.

“Tomorrow morning, be ready to leave the same time as you did yesterday,” Manager Lee is informing them in the elevator.

Maria has put on sunglasses again, though it is almost midnight and they are in an elevator. She found it to be the best place for her precious sunglasses. Manager Lim is standing with Julia resting under his arm, the friend closing her eyes with their manager’s warmth close to her. Hannah is standing in the corner of the elevator when they are going up the ten floors, standing with Kyung Ho in her arms. He is still sleeping like a child.

“Kyung Ho will be with you at the arena in the morning, and then Chunho Hyung will go with him back to Seoul,” Manager Lee keeps saying and he gives a nod at Manager Lim when mentioning him. “And we will go through the rest tomorrow. Just make sure you are all ready to leave in time, alright?”

“Do you hear what we have to live with, Appa?” Maria asks Manager Lim with a hand-motion to Manager Lee.

“What’s wrong with what I said this time?” Manager Lee is surprised.

“Everything. Your tone, your words, the meaning…”

“Maria,” Manager Lim sighs and he shakes her head when she looks at him. “It has been a rough day, so let’s just get inside and go to sleep.”

They say goodnight to Manager Lee before getting inside the apartment. Manager Lim is actually sleeping in Maria’s room while Maria is sleeping in the living-room, just to not let the older man get back pains for sleeping badly. Carolina is sitting in the living-room with her injured foot on the sofa and she greets everyone loudly. Hannah gets inside her room with Kyung Ho; placing him in her own bed for him to sleep. She takes off his shoes and socks, but thinks he can take off the rest if he wants to. She goes to get their bags too and places them next to the bed, and she is thinking of calling Jonghyun when Kyung Ho says her name.

He is half asleep in her bed, his eyes barely open when looking at her. Hannah is sitting on her knees and she rests her arms on the bed to look at him with a tired smile.

“Could you read for me?” Kyung Ho whispers.

“If you brush your teeth and change into pyjamas, I will read for you. Did you bring a book?” Hannah is curious to know and Kyung Ho nods. He gets up to get his backpack, opening it to take out his pyjamas and the book that he has in the bottom. He finds his toothbrush too when Hannah reminds him of it. Now when he is awake, Hannah shows him around in the apartment before she goes to the bathroom with him, brushing her teeth when he is just because he asks her if she isn’t going to do it.

“What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?” Hannah wonders when he is getting back to sleep after saying goodnight to everyone. Emelia is now in the shower.

“Will you make me breakfast?” Kyung Ho brightly asks when she puts the quilt over him.

“Only if it is something simple,” she answers with a giggle.

“I want to try eggs,” Kyung Ho answers quietly, “you always eat egg, don’t you? Can you make scrambled eggs?”

“You want scrambled eggs for breakfast?” Hannah giggles.

“Can you make it for me?”

She nods for answer, smiling at him when ruffling his hair. “Scrambled eggs for breakfast, with toast. That is delicious. And then story-reading before sleep?”

Kyung Ho keeps nodding when Hannah picks up the book. She smiles as it is an easy book for Kyung Ho to read, and she knows he brought just this book with him as he knows Hannah isn’t so good at reading in Korean. Not fast, anyway.

 

She reads for him, and she continues to read page for page until Manager Lim comes inside and tells the boy to sleep. Hannah lies down next to Kyung Ho for him to fall asleep, but it only takes a few minutes before she rushes up from the bed as her cell phone is ringing. Kyung Ho doesn’t move but Hannah gets out the room before answering, quietly closing the door after her.

“Hi, why weren’t you answering my texts? I sent you three of them,” Jonghyun sounds a little worried when she answers.

“I was reading to Kyung Ho, sorry,” Hannah mumbles and walks over to the hall to talk without being interrupted. “You call me if I don’t answer?”

“I was bored, so I called,” Jonghyun answers. He sounds tired, but then again, it is late; Hannah sounds tired too.

Hannah stares at the wall in front of her, thinking of what she has wanted to ask him. She goes straight to it “Kyung Ho told me that you don’t smile,” she mentions.

“Ha. He told you that?” Jonghyun sounds amused, but she can’t help but to hear it is something else too. “Wow… He notices a lot, that kid.”

“Why don’t you smile?”

“Could we talk about this face-to-face? You will come back to Seoul on Monday, right?”

“Why not talk about it now? I want to know what is going on. And no, I won’t be back on Monday – we will be here another week,” Hannah answers, not sounding happy for that he doesn’t want to talk about it.

“You will be there for another week?! For how long have you known that? And why didn’t you tell me so earlier? Hannah, that’s freaking six weeks!” He is shouting at her.

“Then you better talk to me, for I will not wait another week in frustration knowing you don’t tell me things,” she responses, annoyed and irritated at him even if she is angry too for not getting to see him this upcoming week either. Six weeks without seeing each other… it must be a record. And she doesn’t like it at all.

“What do you want me to say, Hannah? I haven’t seen you for five weeks, my whole body wants to burst out in ways I don’t know, and then I can’t promote with my group… I’m going crazy here, alright? And my girlfriend … … Hannah, I need you, now. I can’t wait another week.”

She has sat down on the floor, keeping her eyes closed and her free hand is rubbing her forehead. Jonghyun sounds so desperate when he tells her this, as if he is going to cry after her. “I’m sorry,” she whispers, all frustration has left her and she just misses him with everything she has.

“A whole week?” he asks her.

“We have filming in Korea on the … 6th,” she answers in a low voice, having to think of what date she saw on the schedule earlier today.

It could be that she hears him curse, but she is unsure as she doesn’t know many curse words and it could just be him saying anything in an angry tone. “How… How is Kyung Ho doing? Did he have fun today?” Jonghyun whispers. She knows he wants to change the subject or they either will either start a fight or begin crying for not seeing each other.

“He seemed to have fun…” she mumbles, rubbing her forehead again, troubled. “He… he had fun.”

“But…?”

“He cried,” she whispers, looking even more troubled. “He cried when saying he wants me back in Korea, saying I don’t have time to meet him and such… It was horrible seeing him like that.”
