Wanting To Be Happy

Two Soul Mates?!

This time, Myungsoo stayed awake the entire plane ride. When the pilot announced that they’d be landing in Japan soon, Sunggyu felt Myungsoo hold onto his hand even tighter.

***

“Director Kim, welcome back to Japan.”

Hiro bowed, and when he stood back up he noticed that there was someone around his age next to Sunggyu.

Sunggyu gave his old assistant a small smile.

“You can call me by my name, Hiro-kun. I don’t think my father even knows I’m in Japan right now.”

Both Myungsoo’s and Hiro’s eyes widened at Sunggyu’s statement.

“Chairman Kim doesn’t know you’re here, Songyu-san?” Hiro asked, a bit surprised.

            Sunggyu shook his head.

“I don’t think he’ll be too angry. By the way, Hiro-kun, this is my assistant in Korea, Myonsu-kun.”

Sunggyu pointed to Myungsoo, smiling unconsciously.

Hiro noticed this, and he wondered if Sunggyu knew he was smiling. The Japanese assistant smiled at Myungsoo and bowed.

“Nice to meet you, Myonsu-kun. My name is Hiro,” he introduced himself.

            Myungsoo bowed as well.

“Nice to meet you,” he mumbled quietly. He still wasn’t in much of a mood to talk. He stared at the ground after Hiro smiled at him again.

After a few questions between Sunggyu and Hiro about how they were each doing, Hiro went to get their luggage from the baggage claim, leaving Myungsoo and Sunggyu alone again.

The two of them sat on one of the benches, Myungsoo still looking at the ground.

“Are you ok, Myungsoo?” Sunggyu asked, his tone laced with worry.

Myungsoo looked up, his stare as blank as Sunggyu had ever seen it.

“I-I’m fine, Director Kim,” he murmured.

            Sunggyu shook his head.

“Don’t call me Director Kim here. Just call me Sunggyu, or Songyu, since we are in Japan,” he said.

“I’d rather call you Director Kim,” Myungsoo replied, surprising Sunggyu.

            “W-Why?”

“I don’t want to talk about it…Director Kim,” Myungsoo mumbled.

Sunggyu looked at Myungsoo and felt his heart ache. He faced him and took his hand in his, not even moving one bit when Myungsoo tried to take his hand out of his.

***

“What do you mean he’s in Japan?!” Chairman Kim yelled out.

“He cancelled all of his meetings for the rest of the week, Chairman Kim,” Jungryul stated.

“What is he doing back in Japan for?!”

            “He didn’t say.”

Chairman Kim sighed heavily and ran his fingers through his hair.

“And he won’t answer his phone?”

            Jungryul shook his head.

            “No, sir.”

“Find out what he’s doing over there. Call that little Japanese kid and find out. I need to speak with him right away,” he ordered.

Jungryul resisted the urge to deny the chairman’s request and nodded his head.

            “Yes, sir.”

***

            “What’s happened Dongwoo?” Hoya asked.

The events that were happening shouldn’t have been occurring. Myungsoo’s mother wasn’t supposed to die in the first place. She was supposed to have gotten better.

Dongwoo shrugged his shoulders and watched as Sunggyu walked to the car with Myungsoo’s hand in his.

“Have you been able to get a hold of Sungjong yet?”

            Hoya shook his head.

“The other angels said that he’s disappeared from Woolim,” he replied.

            “What?!”

Dongwoo’s eyes widened. An angel as important as Sungjong should never be unreachable.

The two angels started to slowly follow Sunggyu and Myungsoo into the airport, leaving Woohyun without someone to watch him in Korea.

***

Myungsoo felt a little weird to be back in Japan. As he sat back in the car that he once was so fascinated by, he was a bit surprised at how far he had come in just a little over a week. He remembered trying to steal Sunggyu’s suitcase and everything. He thought about how lucky he was that Sunggyu had not pressed charges. It was better to have been able to fly back for his mother’s memorial from Korea with Sunggyu than to have been stuck in jail not knowing his mother was gone until he got out. He felt a tear run down his cheek, but he wiped it away quickly, glancing at Sunggyu. He didn’t want Sunggyu to see him cry anymore.

While in the plane, Myungsoo thought a lot about his life. He knew that he probably still owed Sunggyu for taking him in and everything. He also knew that he liked being Sunggyu’s assistant. Myungsoo knew that he was incredibly thankful for Sunggyu. Sunggyu dropped everything to take Myungsoo to Japan, and Myungsoo felt like he owed Sunggyu his life. He knew that he was glad to have Sunggyu by his side at this time, but he also knew that he grew to depend on Sunggyu a lot.

He also knew that he had fallen in love with Sunggyu, and that Sunggyu was supposed to marry Woohyun. He looked at Sunggyu again, who was chatting with Hiro. Sunggyu’s eyes suddenly met his, and he immediately looked down to his hands. He wanted to get rid of his feelings for Sunggyu, because he knew that they would never work out with his arranged marriage and Sunggyu’s father and the fact that Myungsoo didn’t even know if Sunggyu thought of him that way. It just confused him all so much, and his thoughts always ended with the conclusion that they couldn’t be together. But whenever Myungsoo felt Sunggyu’s eyes on his, he couldn’t help but hope.

***

Myungsoo wasn’t talking to Sunggyu, and it worried him. Myungsoo wouldn’t even look at him. He felt a little odd. He missed the younger’s happy and shy smiles, but they rarely showed now. Sunggyu knew that Myungsoo was sad that his mother died, and he hoped that Myungsoo would be able to stay strong for her.

The memorial was not going to be very big. It was just going to be Myungsoo there, because there was no one else in their family to be there. Sunggyu pitied Myungsoo a bit. There was no one left in Myungsoo’s family for him to rely on. He glanced over to Myungsoo, who looked away from his eyes the moment they met. He sighed.

I hope you’ll let me be the person you can rely on.

***

Hiro watched at the two of them stole glances at each other, and he couldn’t help but smile. The feelings he once had for Sunggyu just disappeared the second he saw Sunggyu and Myungsoo walk out together. He didn’t know why, but the feelings just disappeared. He felt that Sunggyu had found the one, whether he knew it or not. It was just a feeling that he got whenever he saw them steal glances at each other or smile unknowingly just looking at each other.

Hiro just wanted Sunggyu to be happy now, and he felt that this Myungsoo kid could really be that person to make him happy. He just hoped that Myungsoo knew that.
