Yuri's POV

"Hey Kwon, want some beer?" I saw Amber at the other side of my fence smiling and holding out a six pack for me to see. I waved for her to come over and she entered the wooden door.

"Can't sleep Ber?" I asked her as she opened a can and handed it to me. We went to the bench and sat there just enjoying the breeze of night time.

"Hmmm.... A little bit. I'm just waiting for Soojung to call, she's still out with Dani and ..." she suddenly stopped, contemplating if she will say the name or not. I snorted at her and smiled.

"You can say it Ber... I won't mind. I'm okay now so don't worry, I can handle it."

I watch the daisies move with the soft breeze of the wind. After what I saw that night, the way she smiled when that guy held her hand, I realized that I'm such a stupid person to let her go. But it's my fault too... She did everything for me to get better and she showed me that we still have a chance.

I was too afraid to lose her again that I didn't notice she's breaking inside. I thought all the affections and attention I've been giving her is enough, that I don't have to confirm what our status is because I thought if we get together again and announce it her father will intervene again and break us apart. She became.... impatient.

I was mad at her for going out with that guy. I was jealous because he was able to make Sooyeon happy, from what I heard from Amber that Soojung told her, the doctor was a former flame. When I asked her to stop going out with him, I thought she's going to say yes. But no she didn't, she even told straight to my face that we remain friends. Just .... Friends. Because she's tired of waiting.

I only gave her sadness and confusion. She doesn't deserve someone like me... I'm broken, commitment is an issue for me. Ever since what happened to me and Sooyeon it became one of my issues that's why I didn't have anyone after her.

I had lots of admirers before, I'm a model, and working in the modeling industry means meeting lots of good looking people. My problem is, I was too afraid to get close to other people that I shut them away. I kept to myself and reject offers of dinner dates or just hanging out kindly because I don't have any interest of getting close again and when that happens, it means falling in love again and feeling hurt all over again.

"Kwon, you're hurting I know it. I'm sorry..." I smiled at her and drape my arms on her shoulders. It was just like before, Amber consoling me when I got heartbroken. The only difference is, I'm not breaking down like before.

I sighed and pulled her close to me "I admit I am... It hurts Ber. But it's my fault... I pushed her away, I'm the one who told her to be happy. Maybe she felt that I'm just using her for my own need... But the truth is I just want her by my side."

"I can't understand the two of you Kwon. You, why didn't you just tell her what you feel and just get it done. Saves you two from all these heartaches.." she took a sip of her beer and stare at where I am looking.

For the second time tonight, I sigh. "I know Ber, you probably thought I'm stupid."

"Not just me, Soojung too may I tell you. We promised each other to be neutral about you and Jessica that's why we're not doing anything."

"Thanks for that Ber, I appreciate it."

"Yul... You're not feeling suicidal, aren't you? Soojung is worried about you... Every day since it happened. She's afraid... She cares about you too as a friend."

I laughed softly at what she said and stood up while drinking my beer. My hair being blown by the soft breeze. "Soojung always looks at me in training like she wants to ask something but she's holding it back. She will only give me a kind smile and a hug before and after training. I'm thankful for those hugs because it's sincere and comforting."

"Yeah... I saw that. She told she feels like doing it for you because I'm too lazy to do it."

"Because you are lazy!"

"I'm not! My girlfriend is the lazy one."

"But she gives me hugs for free." I snickered at her.

She stood up and wrapped her arms around me awkwardly "There! I'm hugging you for free! What do you want Kwon? I pinch your cheeks and say 'Goo goo ga ga?!"

I answered her hug and tighten it "Just you being here beside me Ber is enough. Thank you for being a good cousin... for not leaving me when I needed you the most."

"Of course, I love you ."

"Thanks, , love you too and Soojung."

"Vic, I'm running late for the photoshoot! My car broke down...yeah please tell them I'm sorry... I'll just hail a cab or Uber and try to be there immediately... Yeah... But it's traffic too... Oh really? The photographer is late too? Okay okay, I'll try and beat him to it. Kay bye!" I ended our conversation and tried to connect to Uber but my ever trusted phone suddenly...

"! Nooooo!!!!" The battery died oh ! Uber is down, now the choice is to hail a cab. But it's traffic damn it! I think there's no other way but to take the subway. Geez!

I took my bag and locked my car mentally reminding myself to call the tow services later when I already charge my phone. I made my way to cross the street and bow at people who recognizes me, wave at them, and smile.

"Hi, uh... how do I go with this?" I dumbly asked the lady at the ticket counter. She looked at me like she's going to laugh at my clueless face and I know she recognizes me because my face is on the poster of an ice cream brand behind her.

She asked me where I am going and I told her where. She gave me a card and the platform number and I thanked her. She was a really nice lady that I gave her an autograph. I said goodbye to her and followed her instructions.

"Okay, Yuri... Right, it's this way... Oh great... Hahaha! The card... So I'll put it here and... Oh, it isn't working." I turned the card and tried to push it again but it's no use.

"Damn!!!! Please just let me through! The Hogwarts Express will leave me if I don't arrive in time at Platform 9 3/4!!!" What am I saying?!

I heard someone laughing quietly at my back and when I looked back, there was this girl giggling at what I'm doing shaking her head. This is embarrassing...

"Umm... I'm sorry...I ah..kinda dumb about this kind of thing." Kwon, you look stupid.

She walks up to me and asked for the card. "Can I?" I gave it to her and fidgeted beside her. A line is already forming . She easily entered it and ushered me to get through. Oh, that was that...

She smiled at me and repeated the process so she can get through and pulled my arm in the direction of the platform I need to be. I was just staring at her and letting her pull me elsewhere. "Lucky us! The train is just arriving!"

"Umm... Is that the train I need to ride?" Doubting Kwon?

She raised her eyebrow at me and it dawned on me that she's pretty.

"Just trust me or you'll be a stupid mess here, and end up farther than your true destination." Oh... Savage.

She pulled my arm and guided me to enter the train. We settled at the back where there are not many passengers and sat down on the available seats beside each other.

She was sighing like she's tired then she caught me staring at her and gave me a sunny smile. "I'm sorry if I pulled you... I hope I didn't hurt you."

"No... I'm not h-hurt.. thank you by the way. It's my first time to ride the subway that's why I don't know what to do." The more I look at her face the prettier she becomes. She's not model pretty or idol pretty, but she has her own distinct prettiness that makes her stand out.

We shared a silent moment while the train is moving. I was glancing at her from time to time and she caught me and laughed softly shaking her head.

"I'm Kwon--"

"Yuri Kwon, I know.." How did she...

"If you're wondering how I knew your name..." She pointed across us and yes, my face is plastered in the wall of the train endorsing a cellphone brand."That's you, right?"

I smiled at her embarrassed by what I saw. Oh. tsk tsk tsk...

"Hahaha... That's so embarrassing..."

"No, it's not... And you look pretty in that ad." She suddenly froze and stuttered "I-I-I mean...uh..the Ad is pretty.. err but you...are pretty too. What am I saying aiissshh...." She mumbled the last line making me giggle.

Did I just giggle??? Oh my God!!

"So... What house are you in?" She asked me making me tilt my head trying to understand what she said. She giggled again and take her hair with her fingers brushing it back. "I mean, you said you're gonna be late on Hogwarts. So what house are you in? You know..." Oh. I get it. 

"Hahaha... Sorry about that I'm just blurting out random things. But I'm a Gryffindor by the way hehe.." I smiled at her and she nodded. "I'm a Hufflepuff.." 

"Maybe I should change houses and move to Hufflepuff too..." I absentmindedly blurted out. Oh, Kwon...

She looks so cute blushing. I wanna pinch that cheeks...

Kwon what are you doing??!

"Y-you know... You're p-pretty too..." she smiled shyly and looked down at the floor biting her lips when I said it.

"Hahaha... jeongmal... Well then thank you, Yuri Kwon. Such an honor to hear it from a very famous person like you."

"Don't mention it.." I playfully flipped my long hair making her laugh.

"Where are you heading? Seems you're in a hurry a while ago." I scratched my brow looking at her "I'm headed to a photo shoot when my car broke down. I was going to call Uber but my phone's battery was drained to the last drop. The cab is also not an option because there's an accident and there was traffic. So I braved the rush and let my stupid self use the subway. And the rest is history.."

She nodded her head cutely with a smile on her face "Bad day I guess.."

"Well not exactly..."

She frowned at me like asking for an explanation on what I said. I laughed softly at her then the train stopped on our destination. We stood up and went out the train walking side by side then we reach the streets.

"Well then Yuri Kwon, I guess this is goodbye. You already know the way to your photoshoot?"

"I guess so. I'll just call my Manager if I get lost hehe... Or maybe I can c-call y-you..?" Smooth Kwon.. smooth..

She chuckled at what I said and smiled cutely biting her lips while nodding her head. "I g-gotta go now, Yuri Kwon. Or I'm going to be late. Take care and good luck!" She turned her back on me and ran across the street then it suddenly dawned on me that I don't know her name.

"Wait!!! What's your name...." I think she didn't hear it because by the way she ran she's really late.

"Late... Oh , I'm gonna be late too!!!" I ran all the way the street and to the location of the shoot with a smile on my face remembering the pretty girl who helped me in the subway.

"Kwon...tsk tsk tsk... You're just in time." Vivi my cousin from the other side clicked her tongue on me and draped her arm on my shoulder. Today's photoshoot is for a swimwear that Vivi and I will be endorsing. Next week we will have a shoot on a real beach that's why I'm getting ready for it and plans on bringing Shannon and Do-Yeon if they are free.

"I know Viv, I know. Vic called you earlier?" I said while fixing my things.

"Yup and you're lucky the photographer also just got in. Where's Do-yeon? You don't have an assistant today?"

"She has exams so I told her to study first. Where's the makeup artist?"

My stylist and makeup artist appeared and started to get the work done. It was a fast photoshoot and all shots were done beautifully that the photographer treated us to pizza for snacks. We all said goodbye and promise to meet again at the airport next week.

I was walking on the street contemplating if I should get a cab or just call Amber to fetch me when I remembered she's busy at the rink and I need to be there too immediately. And she'll be there again...

Tsss... Whatever. Just think about work Kwon. Just work.

I was crossing the street when I saw a familiar face also walking then she stopped on the convenience store. I followed her inside and found her on the chest freezer looking for something. She suddenly pulled out a melon flavored ice frosty, her face was beaming like she found the most precious treasure in the universe.

"Why don't you make it two, please?" I said startling her that she almost lost her balance and slapped the hard ice frosty in my face. "Aww~" it hurts, definitely hurts.

"Oh !!! I'm so sorry... Yuri Kwon?! What are you doing here??" She said checking the area of my cheek that is now reddening.

"I saw you while I was crossing the street so I followed you. I was going to treat you as a sign of my gratitude for being nice to me earlier. I guess I got your answer.." I grinned at her.

"I'm really sorry..." she smiled apologetically at me which I answered with a smile too. "Come on, let me treat you for ice frosty." I paid for the frosty and gave one to her as we walk on the street.

She seems a very bright girl and funny too. We talked about everything including politics and show business. She has these funny punchlines that make me laugh out loud while we are walking on the street, sometimes seeing a billboard of mine that makes me feel embarrassed. She will spazz about it and try to imitate the expression I have making me laugh out loud again.

The frosty leveled up to iced coffee in the café we passed by about 10 times while walking.

She's pretty, intelligent, funny, and warm. Too bad she's straight tsk tsk.

Well, you can always be friends with a pretty, intelligent, warm, and funny girl Kwon.

Hmmm... Yeah, I can. Why not? She seems a very nice person. If she's not, she won't help me earlier.

I called Coach Mike and told him that I'll be skipping practice today due to an important meeting. Amber's there so I know she can manage it, we already discussed last night what to drill with the players. And Jessica's there too...

Jessica.

Funny how I call her from Sooyeon to just Jessica.

Because now you're moving on Kwon...

Am I? Or I'm just kidding myself?

Let go Kwon and find your happiness... Because she already found hers.

I got back to our table and chuckled at her childishness. She was playing with the straw of her ice coffee balancing it under her nose.

"What are you doing?!"

She didn't answer me and just continued her playtime. She's so laid back... Like she didn't have any problems in life.

She dropped the straw and got another one placing it on her drink then sipping it. "That's called enjoying your time while your alone. When your alone, you shouldn't sulk in the corner and think about the cause of your loneliness in loop mode. You should stand up and explore the world, do things you haven't done before and find the happiness you've been looking for. Even the simplest things you do should make you happy." She smiled at me and I don't know why my heart suddenly skipped a beat when she gave me that smile. It was so special I want it to last.

"Wow... Are we still talking about the straw..?" She laughed softly at what I said covering with her hands.

"I overdid it, right? Sorry, Yuri Kwon hahaha! What I mean is if you're alone, you should find some fun things to do so you won't get bored."

"I'm sorry if I left you, I just called my coach to tell them I won't be coming today." I scratched my eyebrow smiling. Her eyes went wide when she heard it.

"Why? You said you have a game tomorrow! You're needed there, right?" She looks so worried but I raised my hand and shake it telling her it's nothing."My cousin is there so there's no problem... I already told her yesterday all they needed to know."

She nodded and thumped her fingers on the table looking at me "So you mean you have a meeting tonight? I should get going.." I held her hand to stop her from getting up and she has this puzzled expression that makes her cute. Gahd!! How many times have I called this girl cute today??!

"Where are you going?"

"Ummm... Leaving because you have someone to meet tonight that's why you called your coach, right?"

"Silly... Just as I had the go signal to skip practice tonight, you will leave me. I did it so I can treat you for... Ah...dinner?" She blushed at what I said and I chuckled amusingly at her. "Don't think anything! I'm... not.. ah..trying to..ah.. umm..it's just...I want to treat you to dinner as Thank You for being nice to me today. I..I needed someone to talk to. Someone who is not inside my circle of friends and family...I just had a rough time a few weeks ago and I needed relief." I looked down embarrassed of what I said. I sound desperate and in need of someone to talk to.
She placed her hand over mine and smiled at me...

"Tell me about it... I'm listening."

Amber's POV

Jessica was approaching us on the bleachers and I looked at my girlfriend wondering why her sister is looking so angry. Soojung just finished practicing and I'm now massaging her knees and icing them.

"Amber!! The game is tomorrow! What the hell are you two still doing out here??" Oh oh... She looks so mad. Soojung and I look at each other and she shrugged at me not knowing why her bipolar sister is acting like that.

"Ummm... Jess unnie... Soojung just finished practicing. It's just 6:00 pm..."

"So?! You should all go home and be ready for tomorrow!" her voice sounds murderous.

"Yah! Unnie! Amber's not a player! She's just a consultant, why are you nagging at her like she's the captain of the hockey team?!"

"Don't answer me Soojung! Aisssh!! I'm leaving!" She went out stomping her feet and saying incoherent words that made us laugh when we knew she's already gone.

"What happened to Jess?! Did Uncle Mike scold her? The team is great and I know the kids have a chance to win their match. What's wrong with that bipolar sister of mine??" I pinched her cheeks earning a slap on my arm.

Hmmm... Let's see... She was okay earlier... then when Coach Mike told me Yuri is not coming because she has an important meeting today...

"Babe, I think Jessi heard Coach Mike earlier. He told me Yuri was not coming because she has an important meeting with a friend today."

"Soooo... What does it have to do with Jessi? Don't tell me..." Our eyes met and our brains connected.

"She's mad because Yuri isn't here..." We said in unison making her giggle.

"But why? Maybe she misses Yuri." I said. I wiped her legs with a towel and patted them dry.

"Thanks, babe~" she reached for a kiss and smiled. "As if Yuri's life will revolve around Jessi forever? I'm her sister but sometimes she's just plain stupid. Yuri has the right not to attend the practice and the right to meet other people."

"You sound like a Fan Club Manager of my cousin. The only missing is a placard and poster saying 'I Love Yuri Kwon!' 'Yuri Kwon is the Best!' Tssss...." I snorted at her teasingly earning a flick in my forehead.

"Don't tell me you're jealous Amber?! I love Yuri unnie as a friend don't worry, I won't exchange you for her." She winked at me playfully making me laugh. "Let's buy Bingsu first before going home. I promised the girls a Bingsu party tonight for getting good grades. Pwease?" She looked like a cute puppy pouting at me asking for a biscuit.

"Don't be cute... I can't say no to you.." we started going out of the gym and into the car. I was telling her about the little girl I met in the park.

I went there again the day after but I didn't see the kid, every day but to no avail, little bear wasn't there. Soojung went with me one time because she's excited to meet her but she's not in the park. We ended up playing there and having fun like kids, playing seesaw, the slides, the swing, and on the sandbox.

"Maybe her parents finally have time for her and brought her to the mall," I said while driving.

"Or maybe they already moved and forgot to say goodbye to you. So sad... I wanted to meet the little bear." She pouted while looking outside.

We passed by a restaurant where Soojung repeatedly patted my shoulder excitedly "Amber!! Stop the car! Stop it now come on. Palli! Palli!"

"What?! What is it?" I parked the car on the side and looked at my girlfriend whose looking outside in the glass window of the restaurant.

My eyes went wide when I saw who it is.

Oohhh... So this is 'The important meeting'...

"That's Yuri unnie!" Soojung hissed pointing at my cousin who is having dinner with a pretty girl.

"Yeah... It's my cousin.. who is she with?"

"I don't know..." My girlfriend took out her phone and took some pictures of the 'couple' who look so happy chatting and laughing. They seem to enjoy talking to each other and the girl makes her laugh. "Am... Whoever she is, I wanna thank her."

We looked at each other and instantly knew the reason why.

Yuri Kwon was smiling widely without worries on her face. Her eyes were twinkling just laughing and looking at the pretty girl in front of her.

Like Jessica Jung didn't break her heart days ago.
