Chapter 76
On the Brink of InsanityThe FBI building was buzzing with many people scurrying around to and fro. Heechul walked over to the secretary desk in the lobby and signed in on the clipboard. He told the lady that Inspector Donghee had called him in and then he was instructed to go up to the second floor, the door on the right. He knocked twice and went inside, and Inspector Donghee looked up from his desk. With just one look into his eyes, Heechul knew that this meeting was not going to end how he hoped it would, with Yanhwa in jail for the rest of his life. Inspector Donghee beckoned Heechul sit down on the chair across from him and then leaned forward with a distressed sigh.
“I take it something happened?” Heechul said, starting off the conversation. Donghee nodded and opened a folder full of papers, it was the Kim family murder investigation documents with all three pictures on it, one of which was Dayeun and the other two were obviously Kibum’s parents.
“We’ve located Lee Yanhwa, Mr. Kim. He was found at the regional hospital under intensive care with a severe broken neck, paralyzed,” The inspector told him somberly.
“Good, he deserves nothing less! But he’s still able to be arrested and convicted of murder, right?” Heechul replied hopefully.

The man deserved death the way he killed that innocent little girl. Well if he can’t go to jail then he’s going to hell, same thing, really.
“But you’ll still put it out there, right? That he was the killer and everything? So people will stop blaming Kibum and making his life miserable every time he leaves the house?” Heechul asked, his heart beating sporadically. Inspector Donghee sighed and shut the folder and looked at Heechul with grave eyes.
“I’m sorry, but we can’t. There’s nothing that links him to the murder. There were no finger prints, weapons were never located…all we have is the word of a mentally unstable sixteen year old, it’ll never hold up in court,” He said grimly.
“So what are you saying? You’re not going to do anything? You’re going to let an innocent child take the blame for the murder of his own sister?!” Heechul exclaimed angrily, slamming his fist down on the desk.
“There’s nothing that I can do. Kibum was never blamed by the Federal Bureau, it was the result of endless rumors, which is harsh but there’s nothing I can do about it,” Inspector Donghee told him.
