Chapter 23
On the Brink of InsanityWhen Kibum woke up later that afternoon, feeling quite refreshed, he found that he was alone in the living room. He sat up, causing the blanket to fall off his body, and looked around, but all was quiet. He folded the blanket back and set it on the couch where it belonged. He stood up and stretched his body and walked across the room to Heechul’s bedroom. He pushed the door open and smiled in relief when he saw Heechul sitting in bed with his phone in hand. He walked over and crawled into bed next to him and cuddled up close, leaning his head comfortably on Heechul’s shoulder.
“Did you sleep well?” Heechul asked, wrapping his arm around Kibum’s waist and pulling him closer.
“Yes,” Kibum answered softly. Heechul smiled and placed a kiss on Kibum’s head.
“Donghae went out to the movies for awhile; he’ll be back in an hour or two,” He told him.
“Okay,” Kibum said, still feeling sort of half asleep.
Things were quiet for a few minutes as they just sat together contently. Heechul knew it was now or never that he told Kibum the truth about the family. He wasn’t entirely worried about Kibum not believing him because his word was law to Kibum; this wasn’t going to be a problem. But his biggest concern would be that Kibum didn’t believe him and would think it was just some scheme to kick him out or something like that. So he needed to word this carefully and take it slowly, he didn’t want to upset him anymore than he already was because of yesterday.
He really needed to talk to Jia again and get her advice on the whole situation. He didn’t understand why Kibum was so suddenly untrusting of him again and didn’t believe that he did love him. Of course, he guessed it was to do with the abandonment issues, but still. He needed to work on that with Kibum.
“Kibum, can I tell you something?” Heechul asked him innocently, starting off gently.
“Hyung, you can tell me anything,” Kibum replied, looking up at him. He said it so seriously and it was just too cute that Heechul had to pause for a moment to keep from pinching Kibum’s cheek.
“So what I want to tell you is something that’s been passed down in my family from generation to generation. It’s something that parents give to their children and Mir was born with it and I gave it to Donghae a few years ago, and now I want to give it to you too,” Heechul told him slowly, making it sound a lot more dramatic than it really was.
“What is it?” Kibum asked him, his curiosity at a high. He wants to give me something? An ancient, family something? Maybe…Maybe he really does love me.
“Well, it’s something secret and special that I don’t tell just anybody. The people in my family are born unusual, in a way that we can help people. You see, we have the ability to heal people from any illness. If someone is suffering from a bad bout of influenza, I could make them better,” Heechul said, trying not to make it too dramatic that he confused himself.
“What do you mean? Are you a doctor or something?” Kibum asked, wondering what Heechul was talking about.
“No, but there
