I'm Back

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

Seoul, South Korea

Leeteuk just came back from Paris after Super Junior's European Tour  doing a concert and a photoshoot for the Boys In The City. He missed a lot after a month or so of absence in Korea and right now he's inside his White Audi car, parked in front of a school.

He reached for his phone and tapped on the screen, dialing a number and placed it on his ear. He looked outside the car window while waiting for the other line to answer.

"Yoboseyo?" The other line finally answered his call,

"Where are you?" Leeteuk asked to the person on the line,

"Neogosaeyo?" the person on the other line asked back,

"Yah! Park Jiyeon, don't you recognize the voice of your own brother?!" Leeteuk yelled, pretending to be angry at his sister, Jiyeon.

Park Jiyeon is his youngest sister, him being the middle child and their eldest sister, his Inyoung noona who studies in Europe for a degree. Jiyeon is currently a freshman student in Dongguk University. As for him, he is the Leader of the Hallyu Band Super Junior.

"Jungsoo oppa?! You're here already?" Jiyeon asked him excitedly, trying to hold her shrieks and Leeteuk heard a guy's voice who's telling Jiyeon to stop,

"Yes." He replied, "I'm here in front of your University. Bring JB along with you, too when you see me. I can hear him from the background."

Leeteuk then ended the call when he saw his sister running rather than approaching his car with a guy who's the same age as her. Im Jaebeom, also known as JB. His sister's classmate.

"Jungsoo oppa! I missed you a lot!" Jiyeon greeted when she got inside his car while he and JB gave each other a nod for greeting, "How's Paris?" she asked,

"Did you really miss me or the ones that I'm going to get back for you?" Leeteuk jokingly asked his sister after giving her a kiss on her forehead,

He got ready to drive again and told JB to get the paperbags which are sitting right next to him at the backseat of the car,

"Those paperbags are for you and Jinwoon-ah" he said and JB excitedly opened a paperbag and saw shirts and caps that he saw in Paris when he went shopping with the boys,

"Wae? Wae? Wae? Oppa! JB-ah has a paper bag and you didn't give me any. I even sent you an email about it too!" Jiyeon whined when she saw the paper bag that JB got.

Leeteuk just smiled to his sister when she and JB bicker about the paperbags, "Hey, sis. Do you think oppa has forgotten about you?" he asked and brought out a small paperbag and smiled at  her,

Jiyeon exchanged her looks between her paperbag and JB's, "Oppa! Why does JB got a big one and I got a small paperbag? He's got lots too." Jiyeon complained,

Leeteuk blew air from his mouth and shook his head, "Jiyeon-ah, it's the thought that counts." he said, "How have you been doing with your studies, dongsaeng?"

"I'm doing alright, oppa. I thought college is like high school but Sora eonnie is right. College is really hard. I have to focus more on studying." Jiyeon replied to her brother,

"Where is your Sora eonnie, Jiyeon-ah? Why is she not with you?" Leeteuk asked and looked in front of the school again before glancing back at his sister,

Sora. Kang Sora. That's the name of his girlfriend whom he hasn't seen since he left for Paris about two months ago for their commitment in Europe.

Leeteuk repeated his question to his sister, "Jiyeon-ah, where's Sora-ya?"

"Uhh, Leeteuk hyung.." JB called Leeteuk's attention,  "We haven't seen Sora noona today though so we don't have any idea where she is. She just told us yesterday that she has something important that she has to do today."

"What do you mean by that?! Isn't she supposed to be at school and studying today?" Leeteuk asked, getting a bit frantic, "Aigoo! Where did my Baby Princess go?"

"Oppa! You don't have to worry about Sora eonnie. She's a grown up already!" Jiyeon said and  made a face to his brother,

"Bwoh? What do you want me to do but worry? I haven't seen my girlfriend for 2 months and you are telling me not to worry?" Leeteuk argued,

"Aish! You can say those things because JB is never leaving your side, he's always there with you. But my Baby Princess is away from me." Leeteuk said and he playfully frowned then gave his sister a side glance,

Leeteuk saw his sister blush really red and JB's face is the same when he looked at him through the rearview mirror, "Eyyy, is there something that I don't know?" he teased the two of them, although he already got an idea on what's going on between the two.

He smiled on the reactions that he got from his two dongsaengs.

Where are you? I'm back.

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
