What's in Leeteuk's Heart

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

“WHY are you here, Taeyeon-ssi?” Donghae said when he saw her standing by the door, “Aren’t you supposed to be out of the hospital now?”

“I’m just visiting my jagiya, Donghae-ssi. Is there something wrong with that?” she replied and glanced back at Leeteuk who was still holding Sora’s hand. This gesture made her ballistic,

“What’s the meaning of this, Leeteuk oppa? Why are you holding that girl’s hand? Are you two – timing me, oppa?!” Taeyeon said while staring darkily at their intertwined hands,

“I don’t see anything wrong in holding my boyfriend’s hand, Taeyeon eonnie, so you don’t have to look at us like that.” Sora said casually and held Leeteuk’s hand firmer than before,

“Taeyeon-ah, I want to ask you something.” Leeteuk said while looking intently at Taeyeon which she reciprocated with the same gaze,

“Are you really telling the truth when you said we’re still in a relationship?” Leeteuk asked, “Because honestly, the others are telling me we already broke up years ago and that I’m in a relationship with Sora now and not you.”

“And you honestly believe what they are telling you, oppa? You never know that girl beside you might take advantage of the situation you’re in right now and telling you such lies.” Taeyeon replied, “You’re the leader of Super Junior after all.”

Jamkanman! Do you honestly think we’re going to do that to Leeteuk hyung? Do you think we’re going to lie about that kind of thing?” Donghae said and looked at Taeyeon scornfully,

“I think you are the one who’s using the situation and not us because you know that hyung can’t remember Sora-ssi.” Donghae then said,

“Are you afraid that if Jungsoo oppa remembers me again then you’ll be forgotten and he’ll be back to the cold Leeteuk that you knew?” Sora then said to Taeyeon, “Eonnie, I’ll try my best to bring oppa’s memories back not because I want him to forget you but that’s what’s right. I’m not like you.”

“Leeteuk oppa, do you honestly believe what this girl is saying to you? Can’t you tell that she’s lying to you?” Taeyeon asked Leeteuk out of frustration,

Leeteuk paused for a while and looked at Sora before smiling at her, “Aniyo. I’m not thinking about those kinds of things for now, Taeyeon.  My judgments towards things are not good right now since I lost some of my memories.”

“But I’m sure you can tell if someone is fooling you or not, oppa.” Taeyeon retorted, “Something that I won’t do to you because I love you.”

“I’m happy that you feel that way about me and you know how much I feel for you too, Taeyeon.” Leeteuk replied while smiling at Taeyeon and didn’t see Sora’s sad reaction to his words,

Sora tried to let go of Leeteuk’s hand but he is firm in holding hers, not planning to let go of it that made Sora gaze at Leeteuk and saw him smiling at her,

“Honestly, I don’t believe in anything everyone is telling me right now. Not anyone, even my brothers in Super Junior. Because as you said, they might be telling something that is not true.” Leeteuk said that alarmed Donghae,

“Hyung, do you think we’re going to lie to you too? We won’t do that to you. We’re brothers!” Donghae said sadly,

“I’m sorry, Donghae-ya. But Taeyeon is right. Everybody can tell me anything and I can believe in everything that you tell me knowing that we’re family. But there’s one thing that I’m believing right now though…”

“And that is?” Taeyeon asked sarcastically while looking at Sora and Leeteuk’s hand, “Sora-ssi?”

Leeteuk shook his head to the side, “Aniyo. I told you, I do not trust what anyone is saying right now. I’m still weighing things if they are really telling the truth.”

“Like what, oppa?” Sora asked curiously at Leeteuk,

“Like if what Donghae says will concede with what the others are saying to me. Just like what they say about the relationship that we have. Donghae is not the only one who told me how much I love you, Sora-ssi, even my parents and Jiyeon confirmed that to me.”

“But other than that, I want to follow what my heart tells me and not what others are telling me. I think it will be easier for me to live each day with it rather than believing others.” Leeteuk continued and glanced at Sora,

“And that includes not letting go of this girl’s hand because it feels so right to have hers with mine. Please don’t fight it, Sora-ssi.” Leeteuk said that made Sora teary eyed,

“You mean to say, you have been holding her hand ever since she came, oppa?” Taeyeon replied,

“Yes and I’m not planning to let her go.” Leeteuk answered to Taeyeon firmly. He suddenly felt a rush of headache that made him hold his head and close his eyes shut tight,

Flashback

“Leeteuk-ssi!” a guy ran after him that made him stop from walking,

The guy wearing a leather jacket, denim jeans and a white shirt underneath stopped in front of him before asking, “Have you been holding her hand all this time?” while looking at his hand which was intertwined with someone,

“Yes. I have been holding it for a while now… And I’m not planning to let it go.” Leeteuk said and walked away from the faceless guy,

End of Flashback

“Jungsoo oppa…” Sora called him; alarm can be detected on her voice, “Gwenchana?”

“S – sora… did t – that happened before?” Leeteuk asked Sora as his headache slowly subdued,

“W – What happened, oppa? Did you remember something?” Sora said, now in an excited tone,

“I – I’m not sure. It felt like… I had been in that exact situation before. I’ve said those exact words to someone before, didn’t I?” Leeteuk said confused on what he seemed to remember,

“Tell me, Sora-ya. Did someone try to ask the same question to me before? Did someone tried to take you away from me?” Leeteuk asked sadly, “I have said those words to someone before, right?”

Sora remembered the time when her friend, Jinwoon asked the same question to Leeteuk. It was also the day when Leeteuk surprised her… It was the day they shared their first kiss.

“Oppa… you remember now?” Sora said, not letting Leetuk’s hand go.

“Vaguely. So I’m not yet sure. But tell me, I didn’t let go of your hand that time, right? Right?!” Leeteuk asked Sora firmly, confused.

“Because if I do, I’m sure… even though losing some of my memory, I don’t want to let your hand go.” Leeteuk said that made Sora cry in front of him,

“You didn’t let go of my hand, oppa. You held it firmly that time.” Sora informed him and held his hand tightly, “Just like this. It was the time when we we’re chased by your fans but you didn’t let go of me and you protected me too.”

“I’ll do that for you, Sora-ssi.” He uttered softly and frowned again, “In times like this, I get really frustrated because there seem to be a lot of good things that I have forgotten.”

“I’m sure that you will be glad to have your memories back, hyung. Just have faith in yourself.” Donghae smiled and glanced at Taeyeon who was smirking while looking at Leeteuk and Sora,

“But I’m sure that there’s someone who’ll be mad when you have your memories back, hyung because she won’t be able to call you jagiya again as much as she wants.” Donghae continued and grinned,

“Stop teasing now, Donghae-ya.” Leeteuk said and smiled at his dongsaeng, “But I really do want to thank you for your help today. You helped me out a lot.” He said and blushed,

“Sure thing, Leeteuk hyung. I know you will do everything just for Sora-ssi even though you have a cast and a bandage.” Donghae replied with the emphasis on Sora’s name and grinned,

Leeteuk and Sora blushed really red upon hearing what Donghae said, they instinctively look at each other and smiled again,

“See, it’s really evident that you love each other, hyung. You always act like kids and smile at each other when you are together.” Donghae informed and paused, “So, what do you feel about Sora-ssi now?”

Leeteuk didn’t turn away from his gaze at Sora when he answered Donghae, “I like spending my time with Sora-ssi and I feel really happy when I’m with her.”

“Nado, oppa. I like being beside you too.” Sora said in return.

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
