Looking Forward On A Saturday

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

IT is the Saturday which Leeteuk was waiting for, the Saturday that brought a smile on Leeteuk’s lips. He smiled brightly when he thought that he has been dragging Saturdays along ever since MBC had a strike and didn’t shoot fresh episodes of We Got Married. But today will be a different one than the other Saturdays these past few months. He’s going to start filming We Got Married again… with Sora.

“Should I give her a call? Can I call her?” Leeteuk asked himself, contemplating on what he’s going to do,

Am I allowed to call her though? Will they let me?

Leeteuk suddenly heard a knock on his door and he saw Sungmin’s head peeking at it as it opens,

Hyung, are you busy?” Sungmin asked when he entered Leeteuk’s room,

Ani, I’m just thinking if I can give Sora a call before we start filming or something. What do you think, Sungmin-ah?” Leeteuk asked for his dongsaeng’s opinion,

“Hyung, today is the day that you can spend your time with Sora hyungsunim, but remember what the MBC filmed with you when we were in Paris? Good thing, Sora was with Jiyeon-ah back then. Just stick on what we talked about,  hyung. Don’t spill that Sora-ssi was with you.”

Ne. I won’t expose something like that, Sungmin-ah. After all the effort you guys have done for the two of us. But I have an idea though, would you like to help us out?” Leeteuk said to Sungmin,

“Sure thing, hyung. Anything for you and hyungsunim. You know the whole group got your back, right?”

Gomawo. Well, can you play the third wheel this time? I thought Donghae-ya can do it but then he got really into it and made me jealous, that’s why I agreed when Sora-ya told me that she’s looking for someone to be your partners on dates.” Leeteuk said to him,

“You mean, you really have an idea about that, hyung?” Sungmin asked the Super Junior leader,

“OF course. Sora-ya never keeps anything from me.” Leeteuk said, “Anyway, would you play along and be our third wheel? That would really add some spice on our episodes and songsaengnim won’t – “ Leeteuk continued but stopped in midsentence,

Good thing, Sungmin didn’t notice anything, “Arasso, but what brought this on, hyung? Did something happen?”

“Let’s just say it’s to keep something that is really important to me.” Leeteuk answered and winked at his dongsaeng,

“Arasso. It’s Sora-ssi, right?” Sungmin confirmed with a grin and Leeteuk just nodded at him,

“Are you excited to see her again, hyung?” Sungmin asked Leeteuk,

“Of course. I really do miss my princess a lot.”

They were talking more about Sora when Leeteuk heard Sungmin’s phone,

“Hyung, it’s Sora’s manager. Are you going to take it?” Sungmin asked after checking who was calling,

“Yeah. IT might be something important. Gomawo, Sungmin-ah.” Leeteuk said and received the phone from Sungmin, “Yoboseyo, manager hyung.”

“Oppa! Sora imnida. Mweohaeyo?” Sora said on the other line,

Yeobo-ya, bogoshippeoyo! I’m here with Sungmin at the dorm. You?” Leeteuk said excitedly when he heard Sora’s voice on the other line,

“I’m here at my apartment with manager oppa. I’m preparing something for you.” Sora replied,

“Oh, jinjja? I’ll look forward to that then. I miss your cooking, Sora-ya.”

“Then you should go ahead and see me fast later when we do WGM. Do you miss me that much, oppa?” Sora asked cutely on Leeteuk,

“You don’t have any idea how much. Have you been doing well without oppa, Sora-ya?” Leeteuk answered her,

“At work, I have to. Because manager oppa said I can’t show them how sad I am. He told me that I should always look happy when I go out and attend my photoshoots and cfs.” Sora replied,

Mianhe, Princess. If oppa was careful, I would be able to call you on my own phone and talk to you properly.”

Gwenchana, oppa. I’m staying positive on this and I believe in you. I just feel bad though when they ask me about my real relationship with you.”

“We will reveal that in time, Princess. We just have to be patient for now and I haveto make sure that no one will be against the two of us. I don’t want to give you lots of problems on being my other half.” Leeteuk replied and smiled,

“Don’t worry about that oppa. I don’t mind those kind of things as long as we’re together. Oppa, I’m getting quite busy now. I’ll just see you later at the house.”  Sora said to focus herself more on what she’s cooking,

“Alright. Saranghae, yeobo-ya.” Leeteuk said and hung up the phone.

Sora placed down the phone and focused herself on cooking the chicken dish she’s making for her Jungsoo oppa,

“Sora-ssi, you do look like a housewife on what you are doing. No one will ever think that the beautiful Sora really knows how to cook.” Her manager commented as he looks at what she’s doing.

“That’s what I thought at first but the PD told me that Victoria-ssi has alrady done being the best in the kitchen so I have to play the wife who doesn’t know how to cook.” Sora replied while stirring the contents in the pot,

Aigoo, if only they know that you cook the best dishes and cookies that I have tasted. Heck, you’re cookies are the best!” the Manager complimented her,

“Stop praising me, oppa. I really am planning to make some cookies though and I’ll make sure to leave some for you. But I’m sure they are going to ask about it.” Sora replied,

“Then why don’t you say your omma made that all but leave the rice alone. Tell them you’re the one who cooked it. As for the cookies, leave them to me.” Her manager said and grinned at Sora,

“Ani, oppa! I’ll going to make cookies for Jungsoo oppa for his dessert but I promise I’ll make you a box worth.” Sora pleaded to her manager,

“Arasso, arasso. I know that Leeteuk-ssi comes first since he’s your fiancé. I’ll give this day to him ‘coz I know how excited you are waiting for the weekend just to legally see your boyfriend.” The manager said,

“Aish! You two really deserve each other and I admire that both of you are loyal to each other despite the gorgeous people around you. I rest my case when it comes to you both.” Her manager said while starting up the laptop sitting on the table near the kitchen,

Sora smiled while finishing up in the kitchen when the manager saw some of the photo teasers of Super Junior’s new album, y, Free and Single,

“Omo, what a title! But wait, y, Free and Single? But didn’t they know Leeteuk-ssi is not single anymore? He’s married to you, isn’t he?” her manager joked and winked at her,

Sora fixed her eyes at Leeteuk’s teaser picture, never blinking,

Oppa is really handsome. I think I’m falling for him more…

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
