Telling the Truth

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

"Sora-ssi, gwenchanayo?" Im Joo Hwan, Sora's co-star in Ugly alert asked her when he heard the news about Sora's wardrobe malfunction. He visited his co-star in her dressing room. She was already wearing a white dress which fitted perfectly with an intricate circular design that decorated her chest,

"Ne, kamsahamnida, Joo Hwan-ssi. Good thing Manager oppa brought a spare dress for me to wear or else I won't be able to come out later to join the after party. I'm sorry for causing all of you the trouble and thanks again for covering up for me." Sora replied to her co-star,

"Yah, you don't have to thank me for it. I'm sure that everyone who saw you will do the same as I did." Im Joo Hwan smiled at her, and glanced at the dress that she's wearing, "You look really lovely with that dress, I don't know if I would be thankful to see you wearing something like that, both chic and classy at the same time."

"You like what Sora-ssi is wearing, Joo Hwan-ssi? She looks really good in whatever she wears doesn't she?" Sora's manager asked Joo Hwan as he entered the room,

"Yeah, I really like it. You really are a good manager for Sora-ssi, Manager hyung. You do know how to act even for emergencies like this. You have a good assistant for Sora-ssi too." Joo Hwan answered,

"Don't praise me on how good Sora looks right now, Im Joo Hwan-ssi. That dress didn't come from me and that dress supposed to be worn not for the after party too." Sora's manager said,

Sora just smiled while looking at herself at the full body mirror in front of her, This was given to me by Jungsoo oppa when we were in New York. This is what I wore when he proposed to me too.

"Well, with whatever it's worth, Kang Sora-ssi looks really good on it." Im Joo Hwan smiled at her, "Shall I be your to the party? I'm sure you will gain a lot of attention not because of what happened earlier but on how beautiful you are tonight."

"Really, you are giving me too much compliment tonight. You don't belong to the lip service society, do you?" Sora asked playfully,

"Aniyo, I'm just telling you what my eyes are seeing and you really are beautiful, Sora-ssi. You handled yourself well back there too."

Im Joo Hwan and Sora are still talking to each other animatedly as they entered the hall where the after party was being held, all eyes were at Sora and smiled at her. Some of her former co-stars greeted her too,

"You look really awesome back there, Sora-ssi. I think I would panicked if I were you." one of them said to her, "Good thing Joo Hwan-ssi is fast and covered your back."

Im Joo Hwan just smiled and tugged Sora's arm closer to him before speaking, "I'm just in the right place at the right time."

"Sora-ssi..." Sora heard someone whisper near her ear that gave her a tickling sensation, this made her look straight before turning her head to the side,

"Gwenchana, Princess? You seem cold..." the voice whispred softly again, "Is there something wrong, wife?"

"Oppa..." Sora whispered softly,

"Yes, Sora-ssi, are you saying something?" Joo Hwan asked when he turned to Sora and saw Leeteuk beside her,

"Aniyo. Leeteuk-ssi is here, Joo Hwan-ssi." Sora said and nervously introduced the two men, aware that Leeteuk is looking at the way Im Joo Hwan is holding her arm around his,

"Oh, Leeteuk-ssi. Do you know each other? Ah, yes. You went and do a show together, right? Do you miss Sora-ssi now, Leeteuk-ssi?" Joo Hwan asked and laughed playfully,

Not that much, since I always see her everyday and been going with her every night, looking at her before she goes to sleep. And mind you, she's carrying my baby too, Leeteuk thought

"I heard a news earlier about her and thought if I can drop by and see how my wife is doing, you see I'm really worried about her." Leeteuk answered cooliy, which made Sora shot a look at him upon hearing the word 'wife' out loud,

"It seems like you can't forget her as much as I thought. I do understand you though, I can't too. She's one of the best actresses around and she's getting a lot of attention these days." Joo Hwan said and glanced at Sora, who was feeling nervous, "Is there something wrong, Sora-ssi? You seem to be agitated about something."

Leeteuk looked straight at her, "Sora-ya, he's right. You don't seem to look well. Are you tired? Do you want to sit?"

"Ani. Thanks for the concern, Leeteuk-ssi. I'm going to be fine." Sora just said and gave a meaningful look at Leeteuk, who was looking back at her with one of his eyebrows raised up,

"Don't worry, Leeteuk-ssi. I'm going to take care of Sora-ssi and besides she came to this party with me tonight." Joo Hwan said and slightly diemissed Leeteuk by turning his back to him along with Sora,

Leeteuk just followed the two with his darting gaze, "Does this mean you dare to choose someone else more than your own husband, Park Sora?" Leeteuk uttered before backing away and return to his friends, he met with Oh In Hye in the process

"Leeteuk-ssi, isn't that your wife who's tagging along with Im Joo Hwan-ssi?" In Hye asked when she nudged her head towards the other pair, "What are they doing together anyway?"

"I don't know. Don't ask me." Leeteuk said simply and grabbed a flute of champagne from the roving waiter,

"Don't ask you? But she's your wife, isn't she?" In Hye asked again, now with a tone of concern

"Well the last time I checked, she is. But then she chose someone else other than her husband without batting an eyelash. She let that guy walk away with her in hand." Leeteuk retorted, "Would you do that to your husband, In Hye-ssi?"

"Don't ask me. For one, I don't have a husband yet and two, I'm not your wife so don't put your frustrations on me just because you let another guy pull your wife away from you and three, you're just jealous because someone else is giving her attention."

"But that's not right..." Leeteuk said and gulping from his 2nd champagne glass,

"What? About her getting a lot of attention?" Oh In Hye inquired,

"Aniyo. About she being pulled away by another. She should've come to me. She's my wife and I'm her husband. But no, she just walked away and let him walk off just like that and in front of me too!" Leeteuk said,

"Then why don't you pull her back and take her away from his grasp instead? As you've said, you're her husband." In Hye told and took a sip from her glass,

"And what? Create a scene in front of these people and embarrass Sora? No, I won't do that to my wife, In Hye-ssi." Leeteuk answered and shook his head,

In Hye grinned and gave Leeteuk a side glance, "Look at you, red in jealousy but still thinking about your wife. You have all the right but you're still thinking what will people say about your image."

"No, it's not mine. I don't really care about that at all. What I'm thinking about is Sora's. I know she has reasons but..." Leeteuk just sighed,

"But it's instinct for a woman to be with her husband instead of someone else, right?"

"Exactly. Do you think I'm wrong with my thinking?" Leeteuk inquired,

"No. Maybe you two need to talk." In Hye said before she was approached by another actress and excused herself to Leeteuk

Talk, huh?

***

Leeteuk walks quite sluggishly along the corridor of the hotel after the party and was being helped by Yesung when they saw Sora with Joo Hwan at the door of one of the rooms chatting to each other,

"Hyung, isn't that Sora-ssi?" Yesung asked while eyeing the two,

"Ne, but I'm not planning to greet her though. Let's just pass on them." Leeteuk said while looking straight at the corridor,

"Wae? Is that right? She's your wife!" Yesung said quite loud that made Sora and Joo Hwan's heads turn to them,

"And what do you want me to do, Youngwoon-ah? Embarrass her? No! I won't do that and you know it." Leeteuk said in the same tone before he calmed down, "Geumanhae, Yesung-ah. Jebal, geumanhae..."

Sora looked at the two men who walked towards her with sadness in her eyes, "Oppa..." she uttered when they walked in front of her,

Yesung snorted but Leeteuk glanced at him that made him look the other way,

"Mianhe, Joo Hwan-ssi, Sora-ssi." Leeteuk just said before looking straight on Sora,

"Is there a problem, Leeteuk-ssi? You seem drunk." Im Joo Hwan asked,

This time, Leeteuk is the one who smirked, "No. There's no problem, it's just that Sora-ssi is with you."

Joo Hwan glanced between Sora and Leeteuk who's looking at each other, "Sora-ssi? Are the two of you together?"

Leeteuk grinned, "Together?" then he looked at Sora again, "Are we together, Kang Sora-ssi?"

Sora bowed her head before speaking, "Ne. Leeteuk-ssi is my husband. My real husband."

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
