Nerve Wrecking Moment

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

"SORA-ya, don't tell me you're ... pregnant?!" Leeteuk asked as he looked at Sora with disbelief and looked down on Sora's stomach and focused his eyes there, "You're carrying my..." Leeteuk then uttered mostly to himself,

"What are you babbling about, Park Jungsoo? W-who told you I'm carrying a baby inside me?" Sora asked back blushing,

"If you're not pregnant then why are you puking your lungs out on that sink?" Leeteuk inquired and eyeing Sora who is wiping her lips with a towel,

"It's just that the pomelo you gave is too sour for my stomach. That's it." Sora answered, avoiding Leeteuk's gaze,

"Too sour? I have tasted the fruit too and it's just right and I even  asked the vendor earlier to give me the sweetest one." Leeteuk commented, "Tell me the truth, Sora. Are you pregnant?" Leeteuk asked in a serious tone,

Sora looked away from Leeteuk and he darted his gaze to Sora's parents who looked away from him too, "That's not ours to tell, Leeteuk-ssi. I think it's best for the two of you to talk rather than avoiding the matter." Sora's father told them,

"Sora, you better tell the truth to Leeteuk-ssi. You don't have to think too much about it and there's no use in crying about what you have now, too." Sora's mother then said before leaving the two of them inside the room,

The two of them are silent after their parents left the room. Sora went on the bed and covered her body with the blanket then turned her back to Leeteuk. Leeteuk, on the other hand, sat on the bed and just looked at Sora. He lets out a deep sigh before speaking again.

"Princess, face me please. I want to see your face and I want you to tell me the truth about you. Are you really what I think you are?" Leeteuk said softly and lovingly,

"Wae? What do you think I am now? What do you think is my condition now?" Sora asked,

"Are you pregnant, Sora-ya?" Leeteuk asked again, "Heechul-ah had a hunch that you are. Since you went all moody and asked for quite a few things that are hard to find. But of course, I have to ask you myself since that's your body and I don't want to presume on these kind of things." Leeteuk said,

"I still don't know, oppa. I, too have a hunch that I am and eomma even told me that I am but I haven't gone to the doctor and have myself checked." Sora said and Leeteuk can hear that she is weeping,

"And may I ask why, Kang Sora?" Leeteuk asked in a serious tone, "You have to take good care of your body if you're carrying our baby. Why didn't you visit the doctor to have yourself checked?"

"The rumors might spread that I'm pregnant if they see me visiting the clinic of my doctor. I don't want reports like that. It might affect you too, oppa." Sora said,

"Rumors are not true. What you have is real, Princess. Your condition is real so that can't be rumors, in the true sense of the word, I mean. And besides, as if I care about the things they say about me. They have been writing a lot of false news about me and you know that. I don't care about another write up."

"But you do know what they think about women who get pregnant out of marriage, right? They won't accept me." Sora then said hesterically,

"Yah, Kang Sora! First things first, we have to get you checked by a doctor and see if you're really pregnant and don't think of what the others will think about you 'coz what's important is what your parents think about you. They are fine with your condition and supporting you." Leeteuk said in a slightly angry tone,

"And lastly, you don't have to think too much about that 'coz you're not going to be an unwed mother. I'm going to marry you, for crying out loud! I have been telling you that since you became my girlfriend and I've been asking you about what you want for the wedding too, am I not?"

Sora turned her head and looked at Leeteuk, "Oppa, are you mad at me?" Sora asked, on the verge of crying again,

"Princess, I can't be mad at you. I'm just a bit pissed 'coz you're worrying for nothing. We can go to the doctor later and have you checked for us to be sure if we have the baby, I'll go with you and I don't care if people will see me too. What's important is you and your condition. Arasso?"

"You mean, you're not mad because I'm pregnant. You're mad because I'm worrying? I thought you're going to ask me to..." Sora said and cried again,

Leeteuk seems to get what Sora is trying to say, "Oh no, I won't let you do that! Were you thinking that I'm going to ask you to get rid of the baby? I won't let you do that, Sora-ya. I know what my responsibility is for you and I'm not running away from it. I won't." Leeteuk said and caressed Sora's forehead with his hand,

"Princess, I'll say this again and you better listen well this time." Leeteuk said and touched Sora's cheek, "I will marry you and to tell you the truth, I'm really excited to find out if you're pregnant with my baby and if you are, well..." Leeteuk uttered and smiled mischievously, "You won't have any reason anymore to stay away from me and you're really stuck with me forever." Leeteuk then said to Sora,

"I think we should head to the doctor now, Princess if you don't want to be seen by a lot of people. I'm sure a lot of women will be there if we're going to do that much later." Leeteuk said and pulled Sora out from the bed, "You better fix yourself up and I'll just wait for you with eommoni and abeoji." Leeteuk said and kissed Sora's forehead,

"And before I forget, would you mind wearing something white for me today?" Leeteuk said again and smiled before closing the door of the room.

"Leeteuk-ssi, how is Sora? Is she feeling well now?" Sora's mother asked Leeteuk,

"I still don't know, eommoni. I will have to bring Sora to the clinic to have her checked. I want to know what her real condition is." Leeteuk replied, "She said she thinks that she's pregnant but I have to make sure of it."

"And what if she really is pregnant, Leeteuk-ssi? What will you do?" Sora's father asked this time,

"You have to refrain from calling me Leeteuk-ssi then. Better start calling me Jungsoo-ya, abeoji." Leeteuk said and giggled, "I'll go ahead as I planned and she can't say no in everything that I'm going to say too."

"And what are you planning to do?" Sora's father asked again, but Leeteuk just smiled at his Sora's abeoji.

I don't know what Jungsoo oppa is up to. He just told me to dress up and promised to bring me to my OB Gyne to check my condition, but I'm getting frantic every minute because oppa is not talking to me unlike earlier. Now I don't know if he's really mad or not.

"Are you still thinking too much, Princess? I can sense that you have something that you want to ask me. Is oppa right?" Jungsoo oppa asked.

He really is sensitive when it comes to me, I know that very well.

"Oppa, this is not the way to my doctor. You're going the wrong way, it's on the other street." I told Jungsoo oppa while looking at the road in front of us,

"Ne. I know that. But there's something that I want to do first before we head to your doctor." Jungsoo oppa said and smiled at me. Really, he has to stop smiling. Honestly, I'm nervous but excited and him smiling takes my nervousness away.

Don't you think I'm confusing?

"But you told me we should head to my doctor first? Why are you going the other way?" I asked again, I really don't get what this guy is up to.

"Yeobo-ya, didn't you tell me you're nervous on going to your doctor alone? You said you do mind what the others will say about you, right?" Jungsoo oppa mentioned and that brought back my worries,

If everyone knew about my condition, I know that my fans and the rest of Korea will not accept me. They don't really accept unwed women in the society. So if our hunch is correct, I think I have to fly away from Korea to be somewhere else. I really don't know what to do,

I just nod on Jungsoo oppa's question and thought carefully what will I do if that happens,

"Then all we have to do is to solve that so you won't have any worries anymore, shall we? I don't want to cause both of you any problems whatsoever." Jungsoo oppa said and touched my tummy,

"Yah, Park Jungsoo! Are you planning something again?" I suddenly blurted out and he just smiled at me, that made me even more nervous. What is oppa thinking now?

I just noticed that we stopped in front of a house and Jungsoo oppa told me to get off the car which I did while looking at the surroundings. We were welcomed by the Lady of the house and she smiled at me,

"Oppa, what place is this? Where exactly are we?" I asked him as he cling my arm on his,

"This is my friend's house and we have something important that we have to do here before heading to your doctor, Princess. It will just take a while, can you please be patient for me?" Jungsoo oppa asked, and I can't just help but nod at him,

The Lady of the house announced our arrival as we stepped in a small office, I was really surprised when I saw Heechul oppa, who just stood upon seeing Jungsoo oppa and I.

"Good Morning, Sora-ya. How are you feeling today? Are you nervous?" He asked and smiled at me,

"Heechul oppa, what are you doing here?" I just asked, quite confused because there's also a man standing in front of us who is wearing a white long sleeved shirt and a pair of slacks. Just like what Heechul oppa and Jungsoo oppa is wearing,

"Oh, don't mind me. I'm just here as a witness, Sora-ya." Heechul oppa said again and winked at me.

"Can you just continue the talk later, Heechul-ah? We have an appointment to keep." Jungsoo oppa said and slightly glared at Heechul oppa which made the latter smirk,

"Shall we start now, Park Jungsoo-ssi?" The man infront of us asked and Jungsoo oppa just nodded,

"We are gathered here today to join Park Jungsoo-ssi and Kang Sora-ssi in matrimony. If anyone of you is against this marriage, just say so or forever hold your peace." he then said that startled me,

"Jamkanman! Ma-matrimony? I'm getting married?!" I suddenly blurted out and turned my head to Jungsoo oppa.

"Yes, princess. I'm marrying you today." Jungsoo oppa just said to me before I fainted.

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
