Sora's Reunion

An Angel's Promise To The Sky
"NE, eommoni. I'm on my way to the restaurant. I'm already here waiting for the elevator." Sora replied to her mother whom she is talking to by phone, "I'll just meet some of my friends while waiting for you."

"Don't tire yourself too much, Sora-ya. Remember, we still have to meet with Jungsoo-ssi's family later this evening." Sora's mother replied in return,

"You don't have to worry about me too much, omma. I will be fine. It's just a gathering of old friends and classmates. I promise I won't do anything rash or something like that." Sora replied again,

"I'm just worried about you. You won't take that away from me, would you, baby?" Her mother told her dearingly,

"Mom, you're acting like a baby yourself. I'm already a grown up and I can already handle myself." Sora assured her mother again,

Sora walked inside the elevator up to the highest floor where a famous restaurant is. She will be attending a reunion with her former classmates back in highschool, one of the two reasons why she is wearing a nice white halter dress up to her knee, which hugs her body really well and reveals her nice slender shoulders and arms.

She wore her hair up to a nice French bun with soft layers framing the side of her face. Sora also wore a set of mini diamond earrings adorned on her ear and a heart shaped diamond necklace to go with that. She had her make up done simple but light, just right for the said occasion with her friends.

"I know what you mean, Sora. But you can't tell me not to worry about you specially now that you're..." Her mother told her again but Sora spoke before her mom can continue further,

"Geumanhaeyo, eommoni. I'm telling you that I'll be fine and there's nothing to be worried about and besides you will be here in a few hours with Dad, right. I'll be fine." Sora said again before breathing out a sigh. She then bid goodbye to her mother as the elevator doors opened infront of her.

Sora saw a few of her former classmates in front of the restaurant and asking for the reservation of their reunion, she smiled at the couple of people when one of them turned his head at her.

"Kang Sora." she informed the usherette when she was asked and checked the list for the reservation.

"Jeogiyo, are you really Kang Sora-ssi?" The guy asked her reluctantly. Sora just smiled and nodded,

"Assa! It's me, Jonghyun. Do you remember me?" the guy infront of her said and smiled widely at Sora,

"Jonghyun? Kim Jonghyun-ssi?" Sora's face lit up when she remembered her former classmate's name,

"Ne. That's right. It's me, Kim Jonghyun." the guy confirmed, "But why with the ssi, Sora-ya. We had something special back then so you don't have to be formal" Jonghyun said confidently,

Sora was taken aback on what her friend just mentioned to her, as far as she can remember what she had with this man is only friendship and nothing else. She can still remember that this guy happened to be her close friend back in highschool.

"That was already years ago, Jonghyun-ssi and besides we didn't contact each other much after our highschool graduation, so I'm sorry if I'm being formal with you again." Sora said politely,

"Don't mention it, Sora-ya. We still have a lot of time to make up for the lost time by our reunion. I'm sure you're going to enjoy your time with our friends and catch up with them." Jonghyun replied and smiled widely at Sora, "So, I heard you became an actress. I saw you on TV doing a drama and..."

"Isn't that Kang Sora-ssi, Jonghyun oppa?" they heard a voice calling for Jonghyun and saw Han Sunhwa, one of their former classmates together with 3 other girls,

"It's nice to see you here, Kang Sora-ssi." Sunhwa greeted her and gave her a peck on the cheek, "What have you been doing lately? I hope you're not stuck with your books until now."

"Ani, Sunhwa-ya. Sora-ya is an act --" Jonghyun was about to say something but he was cut short when Sunhwa spoke again,

""You see, I've been busy with a lot of things lately and I have no time with other things besides my work at the office." Sunhwa mentioned and glanced at Sora, "Oh, didn't I tell you that I'm already working in one of the biggest company here in Seoul?"

"You're telling that to me now, aren't you?" Sora inquired and Sunhwa smirked before nodding,

"You see, Sora, she's an executive secretary of the President of Soo Man Entertainment. The one who produces big artists such as Super Junior, SNSD and the likes." Jonghyun informed Sora,

"That's why it's not new for me to see artists as big as them." Sunhwa said, "Wait, you do know what SM Entertainment is, right?"

"Yes, I do. I do watch variety shows a lot and I see those groups quite often specially Super Junior... well, I see those boys almost everyday nowadays." Sora said and rolled her eyes,

"Did you invite some of them to perform for our reunion, Sunhwa-ssi?" one of the girls asked and Sunhwa just smiled and nodded,

"Is it Super Junior? You see I'm really a fan of them and I would like to see them upclose. That's why I envy you when you told us you're working at SME."

"I was able to invite a group but sad to say, it's not Super Junior. Their manager told me that they have some personal matters they have to attend to today so they can't come. But I tried to ask their manager though." Sunhwa informed,

"How about you, Sora-ssi. What have you been doing lately? You haven't told me what you do for living." Sunhwa then asked while looking at Sora's attire for the occasion, "I must admit you learned how to dress well. Where did you get those clothes? It looks expensive." Sunhwa said,

"How about those jewelries? Are they real diamonds? Wait, can you afford to buy a set like that?" Sunhwa continued while eyeing Sora's necklace and earrings, "They look real on you, Sora. What did you do?"

"Did you just approach me to mock me, Sunhwa-ssi? Because to tell you the truth, I came here to see my friends and not to be treated like that by you." Sora asked straightforwardly,

I should've listened to mother on not coming here instead. I should've waited for oppa or be with Jiyeon rather than be treated like this.

"Yeobo-ya, is there something wrong?" Sora was startled when she heard Leeteuk's voice behind her, and saw his worried face when she turned to him,

"It's Leeteuk-ssi!" Some of the girls commented upon seeing Leeteuk standing in front of them,

"Oh, Leeteuk-ssi. It's nice for you to come at our reunion. I was told by your manager that you have other business to attend to but I'm really glad you came." Sunhwa said and greeted Leeteuk, who just eyed her indifferently,

"Wait for a second but can you tell me who you are and what attendance are you talking about?" Leeteuk asked,

"I'm the executive secretary of Lee Soo Man and I --"

"It doesn't matter to me who you are though. I'm just here to get my woman, whom I see you have been eyeing for a while now. Have you done anything to her?" Leeteuk asked sweetly but Sora knew otherwise,

Sora pulled Leeteuk's shirt and bowed her head slightly, "Oppa, geumanhae. Let's just go."

The other guests are just looking at Leeteuk, Sora, and Sunhwa who was making a commotion at the reunion,

"Arasso. You really don't listen to eommoni, aren't you? She told me that she told you not to go but you still insisted." Leeteuk said sweetly to Sora and kissed her forehead, "Listen to mother next time."

"But, I do want to see my friends though." Sora reasoned out and pouted,

"Ne. But we also have something important to attend to today for you to prioritize things such as reunions like this, Kang Sora-ssi. I understood that oppa is much more important than a reunion, right?"

Sora just nodded her head and sigh,

"I'm sorry for the intrusion everyone, but I have to take Kang Sora-ssi now. We still have our family dinner to attend to." Leeteuk said before pulling Sora with him but Sora didn't budge to where she's standing,

"Sora-ya?" Leeteuk called out in concerned voice,

"Oppa, I have done you wrong this time, right? I didn't listen to eomma and got into an argument by going here. I'm sorry." Sora said and bowed her head on Leeteuk,

"That's alright. But don't do this again next time and be sure to listen to me too. You're not hurt anywhere are you, Princess?" Leeteuk asked and Sora just shook her head in reply,

"If you're not hurt then that's fine. We don't have anything to worry about." Leeteuk said and tried to pull Sora again with him,

"Wait a minute, where are you going to take Sora and what's your relationship with her?" Jonghyun asked them as he tried to stop them from going,

"I haven't introduced myself to you, didn't I? My name is Leeteuk, leader of the group Super Junior and she," Leeteuk said as he embraced Sora from the back, "calls me by my name Jungsoo. I'm Kang Sora's husband."

"That's far out. How can you say that you're Sora's husband if you're not yet married? You've definitely make the news if you are, considering you're the leader of the most famous group in our country."

"Didn't you know that your classmate here is already an actress and she's with me in WGM, so she's practically my wife." Leeteuk said and winked at Sora, before he turned his head to Sora's classmates again,

"Now, can I take my wife back with me? To tell you the truth we're kind of late for our dinner tonight. I don't want to keep the others waiting for the two of us." Leeteuk then said and slightly bowed to the people in the room,

The guests in the party can't do anything but look at the two of them walking away together. Sora can't look at Leeteuk who didn't say anything else when walked towards the hall where they have their reserved table,

"Oppa, I'm sorry. I know that what I did was wrong and -- " Sora said meekly while walking slowly following Leeteuk,

"Did you know how flustered I got when eommoni told me you went to see your classmates?" Leeteuk asked in return,

"I just came to see some of my old friends and have a chat with them. I didn't intend to be late for our dinner." Sora explained,

"That's not what I was flustered about. she slipped and told us that you might meet your friend at the party who, she told, asked permission to marry you someday." Leeteuk whined, "What's with highschool students rushing to get married? And to think he's not your boyfriend back then too. What gives?"

"We - we're not in highschool anymore though..."

"And so? Does that guy have the right to just tell you, 'Hey Sora, now that we're old enough, I'm going to court you and then we can get married.' is that it?" Leeteuk said, and Sora noticed something that made her smile,

"Yah, Park Jungsoo-ssi, are you jealous of Jonghyun-ssi?" Sora asked and grinned at Leeteuk,

"Well, don't I have the right to get jealous of that guy? I should be the one to have all your firsts and that includes to be the first one to ask your hand in marriage."

Sora just grabbed Leeteuk close to her and gave her a deep kiss on her lips that caused both of them to gasped for breath,

"You sure have all my firsts, Park Jungsoo-ssi." Sora uttered as she gives Leeteuk butterfly kisses on his cheeks and lips, "You're the first one whom I called oppa." she said and kissed Leeteuk's cheek,

"The first one who made me feel nervous when you're around, nervous in a good and exciting way." Sora kissed the other side of his cheek, "You're the only one who can make my heart beat like it's coming out of my body."

"You have all of me, Jungsoo oppa. My heart and body are yours and no one will take me away from you." Sora said before she kissed Leeteuk again on his lips,

"And I'll be the first and last man you're going to marry, right Mrs. Park Sora?" Leeteuk said and smiled widely at Sora and was about to hug her close to him when Sora spoke,

"Oppa, did you take a bath? You smell awful!" Sora suddently said and backed away from Leeteuk,

"Mweo? Of course I did. Do you think I'll go out of the dorm smelling like sweat when I'm going to see you?" Leeteuk said confused on how Sora is acting,

"I don't like how you smell, oppa! Stay away from me or take a bath again or something! Don't come near me!" Sora said and rushed away from Leeteuk who was left dumbfounded.

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
