An Angel's Promise To The Sky

SORA continued the filming of her new movie Sunny and travelled on location without Leeteuk while he is also busy with the concerts and appearances on TV for his MC stints.

“How are things between you and Sora-ssi, Leeteuk-ah?” Kang Ho Dong, the main host of Star King asked him, “I heard that she became a model.” He said. He also remembered the first time he saw Sora when she was still in the university, when their class visited their show.

“She’s doing a new film now, hyung.” Leeteuk answered, “I haven’t seen her for about a month . All we can do is calling each other; rather, I’m always calling her.”

“Have you tried visiting her there? It’s really tough doing a movie. I’m sure you’re missing each other a lot.” His hyung asked again,

Aniyo. I haven’t gotten the chance to do that. We still have a lot of things to do and it would be really unfair if I ask Manager hyung for another break, since he already gave us some after coming back.” Leeteuk replied,

Arasso. That’s one of the things that you can’t have when you are popular. You know the saying, Time is Gold? That surely applies to us. We need to value every second when we are with our family because we seldom do that due to our work.”

“I know that, hyung and I get really frustrated when I think about it. I wish we can just spend some time without any worries or something. She’s a worry-wart every time I ask her for a date or just hang out. She’s worried about me getting caught or being seen by others that might stir up some negative news.”

“But I always tell her that she doesn’t have to worry about that. Honestly, I don’t mind that at all.” Leeteuk said, “People will always believe on those rumours no matter how much we deny them and they also say negative things about us when we admit something that’s really out of our character on screen. It doesn’t make any difference, really.”

“Well, if I were your girlfriend I would act like her too. I understand what she wants to tell you, Leeteuk. You both have to stay strong and you have to be stronger for her because you’re the guy.” Ho Dong told him, “I really like Kang Sora-ssi for you. She seems to be a good woman.”

“She really is. It’s just too bad that I can’t tell the whole world about it ‘coz Manager hyung said we have to give it some time and find a way for it.”

“I know that you can do that, Leeteuk-ah. You just have to wait for that right time.” Ho Dong told him and patted his back, “I have to go back and see my family for a while. They are waiting for me. See you in a while.”

Leeteuk was left alone inside the dressing room and he thought about how Sora was doing, he brought out his phone and tapped its screen,

Yeobo-ya, how are you doing? I have been missing you badly already. ㅜ.ㅜ

He then waited for about a minute before he received a new message,

I’ve been missing you too, oppa. I’m here in our Hotel having dinner with Min Young and Bora eonnie. They are my co-stars in Sunny. How are you doing, oppa? ㅜ.ㅜ

He smiled when he read his girlfriend’s message for him; she must be missing him as much as he did.

I’m fine. Just missing you bad, Princess. I hope oppa is not disturbing your time with your friends though. Can I call you now or should I call you later instead? Been wanting to hear your voice but I thought you are busy filming.

Aniyo, oppa. But I don’t think I can hear you now if you call. We are in a restaurant and the place is really crowded with the crew.  I’ll just wait for your call later tonight. I’m missing you so much.

Arasso, Princess. Enjoy your day and don’t tire yourself too much! Saranghae, yeobo ~ ^^

Leeteuk smiled before putting the phone inside his pocket again. He then stood up when he heard someone knocking the door of the dressing room, “Ho Dong hyung must have forgotten something.” He said to himself and went ahead to open the door,

He frowned when he saw Taeyeon standing outside. “What are you doing here, Taeyeon-ssi?” he asked uninterestedly,

“I came here to see you, Leeteuk. Didn’t you miss me? The last time I saw you was during the lunch that I set for all of us with Sora-ssi.” Taeyeon said and looked around the room, “I suppose she’s not with you today, right? She left you all alone.”

“Yeah, she’s not with me. But I’m the one who’s always leaving her behind, not the other way around.” Leeteuk said, “Don’t start with me, Taeyeon-ah. I’m not in the mood to argue with you today. I’m too tired.”

“Don’t worry, oppa. I will make you feel good, you just have to relax.” Taeyeon said and wrapped her arms on Leeteuk’s neck and walked forward, making Leeteuk walk back to the couch and lost his balance that made him sit bringing Taeyeon on top of him,

“”Get off me, Taeyeon. I told you, I’m not in the mood to play your games.” Leeteuk said seriously and glared at Taeyeon,

“Don’t you miss me, oppa? It’s been a while since we really spent our time together and I want to be with you tonight.” Taeyeon said seductively and kissed Leeteuk on his neck,

“I don’t. Quit following me around and don’t give me a reason to hate you, Taeyeon. I have already moved on and have forgiven you but with what you’re doing right now, you’re making me hate you.”

“You don’t really hate me, oppa. You are just saying that because you don’t want to admit that you still love me.” Taeyeon said and continued touching Leeteuk’s body,

Leeteuk took a deep breath before pushing Taeyeon away from him, “Dream on, Taeyeon. I have already told you a dozen of times and I’m going to say it again. I don’t love you anymore.”

The door of the dressing room suddenly burst open and one of the assistants called on Leeteuk for the broadcast, “Leeteuk-ssi, we’re going to be on air in a minute. Be in position.” He said and twisted the knob, “Why was this close? Are you with someone here, Leeteuk-ssi?” and he saw Taeyeon standing next to Leeteuk,

“Oh, you should have said so, Leeteuk-ssi. I understand now but you have to stop what you’re doing for now ‘coz we’re going on broadcast.”

“Aish! Think whatever you want to think. I don’t care!” Leeteuk said and started walking out of the room, “Taeyeon-ssi, don’t come near me again. Don’t make me hate you more.”

Leeteuk went to position and tried to compose himself when the Prince Manager noticed his mood change, “Leeteuk-ah, are you alright?” he asked,

“Manager hyung, do you know that Taeyeon is here?” Leeteuk asked and frowned,

“Yeah, I saw her walking at the corridor earlier. When she greeted me, she said that she has something important that she’ll do here. Wae?”

“Yeah, right. She went to the dressing room and made a move on me, hyung.” Leeteuk said, “She’s really starting to piss me off. If only I have a way to really shake her and tell her that what I’m saying is the truth.”

“Does she know about your relationship with Sora-ya?” Junghoon asked again,

“Ne, but she does not believe it. I have already told her about me and Sora and Sora also did the same when we were having lunch after the photo shoot.” and Leeteuk told his manager the things that happened that day,

“She must really like to have you back.” Junghoon told, “But I don’t like her for you and I trust that you have gotten over her now and you’re in love with Sora, right?”

“I really love Sora, hyung and I’m not planning to let go of her.” Leeteuk replied, “If only I can marry her now, I’ll definitely do that!” he said frustratedly,

“Wait a minute. Don’t tell me you’re saying these things because of Taeyeon? Don’t be like this, Jungsoo-ya!” Junghoon suddenly said, “Don’t let your frustration get to you and rush on these things!”

Bwoh? What are you saying, hyung?” Leeteuk asked, now confused, “I’m not saying that I’m going to marry Sora out of frustration. I would really marry her even without this situation.”

“Well, that means you really love her. Good for you, Leeteuk.” Junghoon said and gave a deep sigh, “Don’t worry about Taeyeon, we will help you to make her realize that you don’t love her anymore. I’m sure the boys will help you out on this.” Their manager said and smiled at him.

Gomawo-yo, hyung. I’m really glad that I have you guys to help me out.” Leeteuk smiled back.

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
