A Mother's Love

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

IT WAS the weekend and Leeteuk decided to see his family and bond with them, he drove his car on the way to Sora's apartment to pick her up and invited her parents to come with them too.

"I think it would be good for you to see abeoji and eommoni as well, abeonim. It's been a month since you have seen each other for dinner." Leeteuk said to Sora's father,

"That would be alright, Jungsoo-ya. We want you to spend your time with your family too together with Sora. Your father and I can catch up on another time. I know you spend more time with our rabbit now than  your parents."

"Ne. But eversince I got into a relationship with Sora, my relationship with them has gotten better and I noticed that we seldom have arguments." Leeteuk replied and smiled, "I guess that's one of the things that I love about my wife. She has a way to my parents' heart and they loved her instantly."

Sora's father smiled and pat Leeteuk's shoulder, "Just like how she did to your heart?" he then teased that made Leeteuk blush. The SJ Leader just nodded in response.

When Sora came out, who wore a nice free flowing, flowery dress which showed her creamy white shoulders with an inch high peeptoe sandals to go with that, Leeteuk was dumbfounded, "Simply beautiful..." he unconciously uttered,

"Oppa, enough with the words. I might believe them." Sora said before she chuckled,

"But I was just telling the truth, princess. You can also ask abeonim if I'm lying." Leeteuk answered then turned to Sora's father, "She's beautiful isn't she?"

"Of course, she is. She's my daughter and she got that from me." Sora's father joked,

"Yah! You men really don't know anything. Aish!" Sora's mother told, "She's beautiful not because she's your daughter, jagiya." she said to Sora's father,

Leeteuk just smiled, "I know, eommonim. She's beautiful because she's mine." Leeteuk answered confidently,

"Yah! Can't you see, Leeteuk-ssi? She's beautiful because she's in love." Sora's mother said and smiled at Sora tenderly, who blushed upon her mother's remark,

"Yah, jagiya, isn't that the same as she's beautiful because she's with Teuk-ah? You just said what your son-in-law told you."

"Abeoji, don't argue with Eommoni anymore. Everything you said is just the same. It will not change the fact that I'm beautiful because I'm your daughter and I'm Jungsoo oppa's wife." Sora just said to stop her parents from arguing and turned to Leeteuk and extend her hand,

"Look at your daughter, jagiya. When she was younger, she likes to grab both our hands when we stroll out to walk, but now she's grabbing someone else's hand instead of us." Sora's mother uttered that made Leeteuk and Sora stop on their tracks,

"Eomma, don't start. Are we going to go through this again?" Sora lovingly asked her mom, "You've been like that ever since the wedding. Don't tell me you're going to cry again?"

"Ani. It's not like that. I just can't imagine that you have someone who's taking care of you now. I remember before you were just posting his posters on the wall and peeking through the gate to catch a glimpse of him, but now he's standing beside you in front of us." Sora's mother told,

"Eomma! You're embarrassing me!" Sora said and covered her face with her hands,

"Yah, don't be like that. Are you going to reminisce all of those things again? OUr Sora is married now and they will also have a baby in the coming months. Don't act as if you won't see your daughter again." Sora's father said, "Don't mind your mother. She just got emotional these days thinking that our Sora is already married. I think she's still not used to it."

"Gwenchanayo, abeonim. I won't take my promise back and I'm going to assure you that Sora-ya will be the happiest girl in the world. I'm going to give her the best." Leeteuk said to Sora's parents, before focusing his eyes on her mom, "So, you don't have to worry about a thing, eommonim."

Sora heaved out a relieved sigh when her parents let them go and ride Leeteuk's car, "I thought they won't let us off. She's been like that eversince I told her that we're getting married. I don't understand why mom got emotional after that." Sora said while Leeteuk was speeding away from his in-laws house,

"You have to understand, yeobo. For a woman your age, you still have a lot of time ahead of you. You still want to do everything and experience every little thing that comes your way." Leeteuk said, "I'm sure your parents wasn't that ready to see you get married this early."

"But they quite expected me to get married to you." Sora said,

"But not this time, right? You're just starting to get the limelight. YOu're still getting on top, princess. They might expect this thing to happen to the two of us but not this early." Leeteuk explained,

"Are you telling me that you regret getting married to me, Park Jungsoo? Let me tell you that you're the one who dregged me into marriage not the other way around." Sora said sarcastically,

Leeteuk just smiled at his wife, "You don't have to be so grouchy, princess. I'm just explaining it to you." then he pinched Sora's left cheek, "Would you mind giving oppa a smile with your dimple?" he pleaded,

"Andwae! I don't want to talk to you! Just take me to the dress shop. I'm going to meet Manager oppa there." Sora said crankly,

Leeteuk just heaved a sigh, "Arasso, arasso. Are you going to have a fitting for new gowns today?" Leeteuk asked,

"Yeah. I have to choose and fit some gowns that I'm going to use for this year's Busan Festival. Manager oppa told me that I have to attend the awards night." Sora informed then she glanced at Leeteuk who was smiling from ear to ear, "Is there something wrong, oppa?"

"Ani. Remember last year? You also went to Busan for the same event and I followed you there? Shall we do that again this year?" Leeteuk asked his wife.

"What do you mean? Are you going to send me to the airport again and fly with me going to Busan?"

"Ani. I'll be going there with four of the boys. We will be walking the Blue Carpet and attend the event."

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
