Saying Sorry Would be The Hardest

An Angel's Promise To The Sky

"What the hell were you thinking, Sora-ya?! Why are you with that guy?" Leeteuk said when he talked to Sora, both of them are inside her dressing room,

"Don't you think I would just let that go unnoticed, just because we're at the party?" Leeteuk asked again,

"Oppa, I don't intend to do what I did. It's just that..." Sora tried to apologize but she ended up bowing her head instead,

"It's just what? It's just that you were clinging to another man's arms while your husband is in front of you? Really, what's with you?" Leeteuk said and looked at Sora sternly,

"It's just that I don't want Im Joo Hwan to know that, you know..." Sora said again, "It can become a big news and I know that you don't want negative things about..."

"Negative things? What are you talking about?" Leeteuk asked and sigh exasperatedly, "So you don't want that Joo Hwan to know that you're married to me?! That's why you chose to walk away from me?"

"Oppa, I'm really sorry..." Sora then said while bowing her head,

Leeteuk sat beside her and sigh before glancing at her, "Sora, you know how much I love you, right?" Leeteuk asked, that made his wife nod,

"I love you so much that I was really hurt with what you did." Leeteuk said calmly, "Yes, I have to understand that you got to be with other guys and do your own thing, but I was expecting you to be beside me when I'm around."

"But instead, you acted as if you don't know me. As if the two of us are just friends, or co-workers even. You acted as if you're not my wife." Leeteuk said and Sora can tell how he felt, "Did you know how much that pained me? I was quite expecting you to tell him that I'm your husband right away."

"But no one knows that I'm married and..." Sora tried to speak again,

"Are you regretting it?" Leeteuk asked calmly again, this made Sora look straight at his eyes too,

"Are you regretting that you're married to me, Sora-ya? Just tell me honestly." Leeteuk said in a calm voice, but Sora can sense the dangerous tone that comes with it, the same tone he used when he talked with Taeyeon before...

"No, I don't." Sora answered softly,

"Then care to tell me why? If you tell me your reason is that you don't want them to know that you're married to me then we're just going around in circles, because I honestly don't understand why you did that." Leeteuk said, still with his dangerous calm voice,

"A-are you really going to tell them that you are married even if it will ruin your career, oppa?" Sora asked, "I don't want to tell them because you're famous. I don't want you to destroy all that because of me."

Leeteuk grimaced before answering, "Of course I will! I will tell everyone around me that I'm already married if you ask me to. I even told our Chairman that I will. I don't care much about anything right now, what I care about most is you and I thought you knew that."

"But Jungsoo oppa, I was just thinking about you and what the others will say if they find out about the two of us. I don't want them to know because Super Junior will disband and I know how much you value the boys. They are your family, aren't they?" Sora reasoned out again,

"Ne, you're right. They are my family. They are my brothers." Leeteuk nodded while glancing on the floor, silence filled the room for a while before Leeteuk set his eyes to Sora again, "What would that make you, Sora? Aren't you my family too? You're carrying my name now are you not?"

Sora just looked down to her hands which are intertwined together and slightly shaking,

"I'm guessing that you won't admit to that guy about our true relationship if I didn't approach you like that." Leeteuk smirked again, "Tell me, Park Sora, do you feel bothered or sad even when you admitted to your partner about the two of us?"

"Do you feel ashamed that you're married to me?" Leeteuk asked again then sighed, "I know it took me a while before I entered the university because of my work and you must have met a lot of college guys who are into you. Who am I compared to them, Sora-ya?"

"You're my husband, Jungsoo oppa and you should not feel that way toward other guys whom I get with everyday. They are just friends and nothing else." Sora replied while looking at Leeteuk, "Are you feeling insecure? Don't be, oppa. They're nothing to me."

"Yeah right. They are just friends but you were bothered to be seen with me at the party, not introducing me as your husband willingly and you're asking me not to feel insecure? Don't I have the right to be?" Leeteuk said again,

"Oppa, don't be so petty on this. I get that you understand why I did that. I have explained to you earlier that I - "

Leeteuk lets out a deep breath, as if holding up his patience on Sora, "Sora-ya, I might not understand what you did earlier after all. I was trying to, but they are right. It's not right for you to ignore me just like that. Honestly, what you did was unreasonable. It's beyond my understanding."

Leeteuk then started to turn his back to Sora and headed towards the door,

"Oppa, where are you going?" Sora asked with a sudden rattle on her voice,

"Going out of here and to the party. I'm going to have some fun tonight." Leeteuk replied then said, "Just talk to me when you're ready to admit to the world that you're mine, Sora-ssi."

A FEW DAYS LATER...

"Why are you not showing your face to Sora, Jungsoo-ya? Did something happen?" Leeteuk's father asked him when he visited them one weekend, "Your father-in-law has been telling me that Sora's crying every night since you came back from Busan. Weren't you excited the day before you went there saying you had a surprise prepared for your wife?"

"Appa, this has nothing to do with the surprise or anything like that and there's nothing bad going on between me and my wife. Both of us are doing fine." Leeteuk answered,

"Yah, Park Jungsoo! Stay married to your wife and don't do anything that will hurt her. She's carrying your future and she's going to be by your side for the rest of your life. Don't hurt her." his father told him again,

"Ne, appa. I won't hurt Sora. Both of the family knows how I love my wife and you do know that I will do anything for her. So stop worrying about us. We're just going to a stage right now."

"Mweo? What stage are you talking about? You have been married for less than a year and you're alredy going to a phase? I'm telling you, Jungsoo-ya. It's better for you to talk to Sora and clear whatever you have out. You being beside her every night without her knowing it won't compensate anything."

"How did you know that I'm with her every night?" Leeteuk asked his father with a shocked look on his face.

When both of them had an argument at the night of the party, he tried to mingle with the others and have a good time that he let himself get drunk to the core just to forget everything that happened that caused him a terrible headache the next day while flying back to Seoul. He then stayed at the Super Junior dorm that night but he couldn't get the sleep that he needed.

He missed Sora's warmth. He missed Sora's scent.

Everything is different when she's not beside him, holding her close to his arms...

So at the wee hours of the night, he drove to Sora's apartment to be with her. He saw her sleeping as he entered the room,

He sat carefully on the side of the bed, trying not to move too much for Sora and her forehead, "I'm sorry, Princess. I'm sorry." he uttered softly before giving a soft kiss on Sora's lips, Sora moved to other side without any indication that she has woken up from the kiss that made Leeteuk smile,

He slowly sat next to Sora's very obvious tummy before leaning in and gave it a kiss, "Good night, baby. Appa is sorry because I know I hurt eomma's feelings, but forgive me, please? Don't move too much so that eomma won't wake up." he said before finally laying down beside Sora and wrapped his arms around her waist,

"Good night, Princess. Sleep well tonight."

He's been like that almost every night since then...

"Who do you take me for, Park Jungsoo? I'm your father, am I not? Of course I do know what you're doing." Leeteuk's father's voice rang to his ears that brought him back from his reverie.

"Arasso. Granted that you're right, but I'm telling you, Dad. There's nothing wrong that's going on between me and Sora. We're doing pretty well, so don't think too much about the two of us."

***

"Tell me you didn't do what you did, Sora-ya." Sora's manager asked,

Both of them are inside Sora's apartment. Sora, who's refusing to do anything, is still lying on the bed, her eyes fresh from crying and her nose is beet red from wiping and sneezing,

"Do you think it's fair for Leeteuk-ssi to just let that pass? I would not see you too if I were him." her manager told her that made Sora wail louder,

"Cut it out, Sora! You have been crying for God knows how long and you've been refusing to go to your schedules these past few days. Your crying would do anything good specially for your baby."

"But I haven't seen Jungsoo oppa since the night at Busan. I really want to see him, Manager oppa." Sora replied still sobbing,

"And who's fault is it that your husband is not showing his face to you?" Sora's manager asked her back,

"Sora, marriage is a lifetime thing that you have to do with your other half. It's not something that you can let go with a flick of your wrist. I'm sure you really hurt Leeteuk's feelings when you refused to tell who he really is in your life."

"But I did tell who Jungsoo oppa is. I told Ju Hwan oppa about him." Sora insisted, "But still he didn't bother to see me."

"Yeah right. You did tell Juhwan about Jungsoo but you were forced to because both of them are in front of you."

"But what matters is that I told someone about Jungsoo oppa and I." Sora insisted,

"But you acted as if you were just friends before that. I saw what you did and I also saw how hurt Leeteuk was. It's better for you to get up there and say sorry to your husband and better do it now, Kang Sora-ssi."

"You want to make up with him, right? Then put your pride down and say sorry to him. He might be understanding you all the time, Sora but Leeteuk-ssi is not a saint. He might love you all the way but he was hurt and you know very well that you caused it." Sora's manager said again,

Sora turned to her manager and glared at him, "You're my manager, right? Why are you not listening to my explanation? I told you..."

"Yeah, yeah. You told me that you told Juhwan about you and Jungsoo but still you hurt your husband in the process and you should say sorry to him. Don't blame me if Leeteuk-ssi decides to divorce you because of this."

"Jungsoo oppa won't do that to me. He's the one who insisted to be married so he won't divorce me. Jungsoo oppa loves me." Sora said,

"That can change, Sora-ya. Specially if you're acting like that." Sora's manager replied, "What's so bad about saying sorry anyway? He's your husband and he'll forgive you easily. But you still have to say sorry because it's your fault."

"But that's just a petty thing to say sorry for, oppa. I'm sure that Jungsoo oppa has forgotten about that already."

"If you're right with what you are saying, then why is he not on your bed when you woke up? Why haven't I seen him at your kitchen making you breakfast just like he did every morning since you got married?" Sora's manager said,

"Sora-ya, marriage is a life-long commitment. You have to patch everything up no matter how small that is, you should not be confident on the fact that your husband loves you so much. You also have to remember that your husband is a famous personality and everything can happen in a snap. Don't give the others reason to take him away from you. I know how much would that hurt you if that happens."

"I do want to see Jungsoo oppa. Do you think he will really forgive me if I say sorry?"

"Of course he will. You just have to say that and be sincere about it, Sora-ya." her manager answered, "But you better do it quick. Make it as soon as possible."

"As soon as possible? As in today?" Sora inquired to her manager,

"Ne. Because Super Junior will be going on a trip and you won't be seeing him for months again." Her manager replied

The Fading of Bright Stars

In the years we shared work spaces, seldom did our hours crossed. She worked night shifts, while I move around across different time zones to meet the demands of my profession. She was a luminary; a survivor of countless excisions when the demands of work is lesser than what is required of human resources. And if not for the months-long infirmity last year, she would have endured the most recent culling. She became part of the statistics, only to return when a colleague flew abroad to get married and live with her fiancé.

A fine lady in her early 30's, one would easily mistake her for an East Asian. Her eyes disappear when she smiles, and her porcelain skin is the envy of many. Her gauntly frame, albeit a cause of concern, hardly bothers any. Colleagues would tell she eats nothing but Chippy and Coke. But who are we to forbid her of such pleasures? She delivers, and for all we care, satisfied are we of her job performance.

Talk is an avocation the two of us hardly engage. Reason lies in office hierarchy, but more so, because we respect each other's solitary leanings. But this doesn't mean ambivalence, or hidden disdain. Words may have never articulated what my thoughts were, but I've always regarded her in high esteem.
