Thirty-seven
Leading Us to This New ChanceArrow never imagined that being on a farm, with his parents and best friends, would be the best day ever.
He had fun feeding the animals and discovered things he would never have known before – and as a four-year-old, Arrow was easily impressed. Hyukjae and Donghae realized that their son really loved contact with nature and animals, so they let the little one have a lot of fun.
And before they left, the farmer gave a gift to each of them and said:
- I hope you come back again. It was great to have all three of you here, little farmers, taking care of the animals.
- I want to go back again. – Arrow said happily – And I want to work on the farm to take care of the animals.
The farmer laughed.
- You are still too young to work here, but in a few years you will be more than welcome to help us.
Arrow grinned and waved at the farmer as his parents thanked him and took the kids to the car. And after everyone was safely in their seats, Hyukjae drove towards the park so they could have a picnic – which made the three kids very excited since they were hungry too.
Arriving at the park, they got out of the car and Hyukjae and Donghae took the food while the kids bounced around and talked nonstop. They chose a place for them to sit and served the food.
- I love roasted chicken. – Aisha said while she ate a chicken thigh – And this one is very good.
- Appa knows how to make a very tasty chicken. – Arrow was proud of his appa who smiled – And I really like the chicken wing.
- I like the chicken . – Gaeul commented happily while eating – Uncle Hyuk always makes the best food.
Hyukjae laughed.
- Thank you for the compliments. You three must be the most outspoken critics I've had so far.
The kids giggled and continued eating while Hyukjae and Donghae talked about things. And Hyukjae actually made a lot of food for everyone to have the best picnic. But since children were children, the three of them went out to play and expend energy while the adults watched them.
- I don't think I've ever seen Arrow so happy as today. – Donghae said – His smile is so beautiful and welcoming. This kid hasn't laughed like that in a while.
- Arrow needed to spend time with his best friends. And I'm sure today was an important day for him to understand what he wants to do with his life.
Donghae laughed.
- Do you think he's going to be a farmer?
- Not exactly. I think he's going to be a vet. I wanted him to take care of the restaurant, but I learned that I cannot control my son's future. Arrow is a free spirit and I love to see how he is becoming a person with the right values.
- It's because we're raising Arrow very well. I don't want him to be a stupid adult. – Donghae smiled while looking at the children playing hide and seek – Do you feel like having more children?
Hyukjae gasped.
- What? So early?
And Donghae could only laugh.
- Don't get me wrong, Lee Hyukjae. What I'm asking is if you want to be a father again.
- Only if you're the other parent. – Hyukjae was sincere – I don't see myself with anyone else now.
- Of course I would be the other parent. – they laughed together – What makes you think I would have a baby with another guy?
- Didn't you think about that while you were with Kangin?
- No. I mean, I even thought it happened, but it was a false alarm.
- Is this serious?
- Yes, but I don't want you to think too much. When it happened, I panicked and Ryeowook was the one who helped me.
- Did Kangin know about this? – Donghae nodded – And how did he react?
- He was upset because I didn't tell him anything, but like I said: don't think about it too much. If this is too much of a problem for you, I don't think we should continue this.
Hyukjae widened his eyes and shook his head.
- No way. I don't see a problem with that. It's just a little weird for me to know that you almost got pregnant again and the baby would be someone else's, not mine. Anyway, I think it's nice of you to tell me this.
- You said that there should be no lies in our relationship and I agree with that. Also, I want you to know that I don't regret having dated another man while you and I weren't together.
- I know that and I don't want you to regret it. And honestly the past needs to stay in the past.
- I agree with you. What we lived was a learning experience and we don't need to repeat mistakes.
Hyukjae smiled and held Donghae's hand discreetly, intertwining their fingers – and that was as much affection as they could have without the kids seeing. However, the three saw it and giggled.
- Your parents are very cute. – Aisha whispered and Arrow agreed with her. Then Gaeul asked:
- Do you think you will live together now?
And smiling widely, Arrow replied:
- I hope so.

After the picnic, Hyukjae took everyone to Donghae's house. He would miss Arrow and all that adventure that was the week they spent together, but he needed to take care of the restaurant because Leeteuk and Heechul were about to start their move to Jeju.
And hiring cooks was a priority.
So after hugging Arrow, Hyukjae left and Donghae took the kids home. Gaeul and Aisha put their backpacks on the shelf, took off their shoes and followed Arrow who was already playing with Ghost.
- Very well. What do you want to do now? – Donghae asked after locking the door – Do you want to take a nap?
- I want to.
- Me too.
- I don’t want to.
- Of course you never want to sleep, do you, Arrow? – the brown-haired man sighed - But you guys can sleep in Arrow's room.
They nodded and Donghae took the mattresses so the kids could sleep. Arrow, for some reason, let Aisha sleep in his bed and lay down on one of the mattresses on the floor. Donghae smiled, closed the curtains and left the room so they could sleep. In the meantime, he could get some rest and text Ryeowook because he wanted to know how things were going at the bakery – after all, his blond friend asked to work that weekend.
But as time passed, Aisha was the first to wake up. She asked if she could go to the bathroom and Donghae opened the door for her, then went to the kitchen to start dinner because he knew Arrow and Gaeul would wake up hungry – it wasn't the first time this had happened.
- Do you want to eat something or are you going to wait for dinner?
- I'll wait for dinner, uncle Hae. – Aisha smiled and entered the kitchen – What are you going to do?
- I thought I'd make some sandwiches because you're going camping, right? And I also have caramel ice cream.
- Can I help you?
Donghae was positively surprised, so he replied:
- Of course you can help me. Do you want to help me butter the bread?
Aisha nodded and thanked Donghae as he sat her on the island like he always did with Arrow. And the girl was very happy to be able to help because she always helped her father in the kitchen when Jeongho wanted to surprise Namazzi.
And Donghae liked Aisha's help because they could talk and he realized how interesting and full of subject the little one was. Aisha was very smart and like her mother who was always thinking of crazy things to do. Spending time with Aisha made Donghae think about how nice it would be to give Arrow a brother or sister.
But he quickly brushed that idea away because it was too early to think about having kids with Hyukjae again. Everything should be taken calmly.
- Did you make the ice cream, uncle Hae?
- Yes. Do you like caramel ice cream?
- I've never tried caramel ice cream before, but omma really likes the ice cream you made. She said you are the best.
- How cute. I'm glad you like it and I hope you like the caramel ice cream. – Donghae smiled and tapped Aisha's nose lightly, making the girl giggle – How about if you help me wake up those two lazy ones now? You guys still need to
