Eighteen
Leading Us to This New ChanceHyukjae thought many things about himself, but he never imagined he would be so quick in relation to Yunseo.
In fact, he didn't even know how to explain how the two went to his house at dawn, but there he was waking up next to that blond man who called his attention so much.
Hyukjae was once a person who didn't mind spending just one night with someone, but then he became a very different man after his relationship with Donghae.
But then again, Hyukjae and Donghae weren't together – and even though the relationship with Yunseo was just a one-night stand, he didn't see any problem with what he was doing. They were adults and as adults they needed to deal with it.
- You must be the only person I know who sleeps without a frown. – Yunseo commented and Hyukjae laughed – Seriously… How do you do it? I bet I slept with my mouth open and still snored.
- If you snored, I didn't listen. – he stretched his arms and sat down – Hungry? I'll make us breakfast.
Yunseo picked up the phone and said:
- Breakfast? It's almost two o'clock in the afternoon now, Hyukjae.
Laughing, Hyukjae got out of bed and replied while putting on his shirt:
- Then consider this to be brunch.
Yunseo laughed, got out of bed and said as he hugged Hyukjae's neck:
- I'll take a shower then and look good for this brunch.
With that, he w inked and kissed Hyukjae and nibbled his bottom lip. Hyukjae smiled and scratched the back of his head as he walked to the kitchen to prepare breakfast – and since there was another bathroom in his apartment, he used the one that was vacant.
Hyukjae thought he was going to have several crises of judgment, but he felt good and didn't think much about anything other than that moment he was experiencing – of course he thought about the possibility of having to tell Arrow about Yunseo if that relationship went forward. But beyond that, Hyukjae felt light as a feather.
He then started to prepare food and made crepe with spinach filling for Yunseo and also made omelet and orange juice. For himself, Hyukjae took his good and delicious strawberry milk, cut some fruit and added honey to make a fruit salad. He had lost the habit of eating a lot after waking up, so he didn't mind.
And after he showered and dressed properly, Yunseo went to the kitchen and saw Hyukjae all serious about preparing the dishes for a good performance. He chuckled and said:
- You are literally the most beautiful man in the world especially when you are focused on making our brunch.
Hyukjae chuckled, placed the dishes on the table and said:
- It's a gift I have. But I hope you like it. I made spinach pancake, tomato omelet and orange juice. There's also fruit salad for both of us.
- And a strawberry milk for whom?
- For me.
- That's too sweet. Why do you drink this?
- Because I like it. It's part of my childish taste buds. – they laughed and sat down – Arrow also likes strawberry milk, but maybe not as much as I do. Sometimes he just asks for juice or chocolate milk and that's how we live.
- He must be the most adorable child. I really wanted to meet Arrow.
- First, if our relationship goes forward, I need to talk to Donghae. And if everything is okay between you and me, Arrow will meet you.
Yunseo nodded.
- Why do you need to talk to Donghae?
- Because we have a child and we always think about Arrow's well-being. – after all, there was no way Hyukjae would tell Yunseo what happened – And also, I think I need to know how to do it. I didn't have a relationship with anyone after Donghae and I broke up.
The blond nodded once more and said as he cut a piece of his crepe:
- Well, I think it's important for you to do all this for Arrow's well-being. – and smiled at Hyukjae – But I think it's really cool that you're thinking about having a relationship with me.
- If it works, I'd really like to try.
Smiling, Yunseo said:
- We'll definitely get along very well.
And that's exactly what Hyukjae expected.
...---...
Far away...
Donghae was apprehensive, but managed to disguise it so that no one would notice anything at all.
He didn't let Kangin or Ari know he was sick and managed to keep himself well when Arrow ran towards him to hug him as he always did every morning. Donghae was worried all morning and then during lunch. He couldn't stop looking at Kangin and thinking that maybe their lives were about to change and that alone increased the panic.
So while they were at the beach – and luckily Arrow was having fun collecting shells with Kangin – Donghae sighed and picked up his phone. As Ari was at sea, the brown-haired man decided to make a video call with his doctor who answered the call in an instant:
- Oh! Hello, Donghae. I didn't expect to receive a call from you.
- Hi, Sunny. I had to call now because I wanted to reschedule the appointment we would have next week.
Sunny arched an eyebrow.
- Why? Did something happen?
- In fact, I just don't know if I can go on the day we set. – Donghae decided to lie – Can we schedule it for Monday?
Sunny picked up her schedule.
- Monday... The day after tomorrow? – Donghae nodded – Of course, but I don't have time for the morning. Do you think you can come after lunch?
- Of course. I'll arrive at dawn, as I traveled this weekend and we'll get home after two in the morning.
- Arrow then made his first trip?
- Yes and he is very happy taking shells. In a little while Arrow will show me what he found.
- He does very well. Being on the beach seems to invigorate us.
Donghae would like to say that.
- I think so. At least Arrow is having a great time.
- I'm glad. But as for you, I want you to come fasting because you have a blood test to do. Also, I'm going to check on you and how well your body is reacting to the vitamins I gave you.
Donghae nodded.
- Thanks, Sunny. It will be a relief to take this test on Monday.
- Then see you on Monday. Anything more?
Donghae knew he needed to talk to Sunny about this, but decided that telling the truth would only happen on Monday and in the safety of her office. Then he forced a smile and said:
- I don’t need anything else. I just really wanted to reschedule the appointment.
- Okay. So I'll see you on Monday. I need to hang up now because I have a patient to see.
Donghae nodded and waved before ending the video call. Then he texted Ryeowook:
“Hey… Can you come with me to Sunny's office on Monday? I'm not opening the bakery and I really wanted you to go with me."
Ryeowook replied minutes later:
“Of course I can. Did something happen? Wasn't your appointment scheduled for next week?"
Donghae:
“I can't explain to you now because Kangin and Arrow are coming here. But when we meet, I'll tell you.”
Ryeowook:
"Okay, but stay well and enjoy your trip with your cute son, with your mother and Kangin."
Donghae sighed and sent:
"I am going to try."
And with that, he put his cell phone in his backpack and smiled as Arrow bounced toward him with his little sand-stained feet and sat in the chair.
- Look what I got, dada! – he opened his little hands and showed the shells – Kangin helped me, right?
- Of course. We explored the beach in search of shells and found several. But what else did you see, Arrow?
- I saw a starfish, dad! – his joy was contagious and Donghae ended up laughing – But Kangin said I couldn't take it because it would hurt my little hand.
- And he did it right. – Donghae whispered a thank you to Kangin who just chuckled and nodded briefly – But then... Did you enjoy playing there?
- Yes. I want to swim in the sea, but I want to go with you now.
Donghae nodded, stood up and took Arrow's hand. Kangin would stay there to take care of the backpack and so the brown-haired man could go swimming with his son who was really excited about his little adventure.
And when he stepped into the water, Arrow giggled as he saw his little toes sinking into the wet sand. Donghae also laughed and carried Arrow to spin him around and make him giggle even more. That was a sublime moment and the brown-haired man wanted it to last forever. He saw how fast his son was growing up, so he wanted to enjoy every second of that childhood to pamper him without hearing that he was a boring father when Arrow was a teenager – but the boy would never say that a
