Thirty-six
Leading Us to This New Chancehello hello ^^
after a month I finally came back with this story *dance* but I didn't change the posting date to today. what's happened is that I've been suffering from writer's block lately and it's been awful writing and posting as often as before - and also, I'm on medication that makes me a little slower (sleepy, I'd say) and I'm trying to deal with it.
anyway, I tried to write a cute chapter for my comeback. hope you all like it ^^
see you on Monday <3
Coming home that night after having dinner with Ryeowook, Donghae was exhausted. He drank some water, poured more food for Ghost, and smiled as the cat purred and rubbed its head and then its body on his leg. Donghae caressed his cat's fur and went to the bedroom right away to change his clothes.
But before going to sleep, Donghae intended to call Hyukjae because he wanted to know what happened. He just hoped Arrow was okay.
- Hey, Hae. Are you okay?
- Yes, but exhausted. Is that you? And Arrow?
- We are fine and Arrow is already sleeping. Why are you tired? Worked a lot?
- Yes, but I also went to dinner with Wook who now knows that we kissed. – Donghae heard Hyukjae sigh – And what did Arrow say?
- Arrow was not very happy when I said that you and I are not going to be together, but I think he managed to understand a little what I explained. But I thought it best to talk to Arrow because he told Aisha and my mom listened. It's likely he told Gaeul too, so the kids will tell their parents and we'll have to answer anyway.
- And what do you want to do now? Everyone will keep an eye on us.
- I think we need to talk about this when we're face to face. But... Do you want to give up?
Donghae's eyes widened.
- No. I don't want to give up on absolutely anything. What I want is to be able to be with you without the stress of having people bombarding us with questions.
- So are we still going to take our relationship on the sly?
- Only if that's what you want for now.
Hyukjae stopped to think about it for a few seconds and really wanted to say that they should tell everyone what was going on. But he cherished his relationship with Donghae so much that he felt he couldn't rush things. This was not how it was supposed to happen.
- Let's wait just a little longer. Our intention is to do everything in our time. We don't have to meet the expectations of others, but our own. Do you agree with me?
- Yes. So let's follow through on what you said to your mother. I think it's better this way because I want our relationship to work. And we'll talk about it when we're face to face.
- Alright, but don't forget one thing.
Donghae smiled.
- And what can't I forget?
- I love you and you are extremely important to me.
- I love you too, Hyukjae. You are extremely important to me too.
With that, they smiled and ended the call. Donghae sighed, caressed Ghost's ears and looked at the empty space in his bed. What if Hyukjae could live there with him so the two of them could live a good life while taking care of Arrow?
This was still part of a dream that would only come true when they were 100% ready. Until then, Donghae could dream.

The next day...
Arrow was already in kindergarten and realized that he had a great facility with counting numbers. He was happy with his progress and the teacher praised him when he counted from 1 to 10 without skipping any numbers or doing the numbers in the wrong order. He still didn't like kindergarten at all, but he could get used to it.
- Are you going to my house, Arrow? – Gaeul asked while playing football with Arrow at halftime after lunch – Your daddy is going to make the cake for my daddy.
- I’m going to your house. I want to eat cake. – they laughed – And you have to go to my house too because I'm having a party. Aisha goes too.
Gaeul smiled.
- Aisha is cool. We played on her birthday and I really liked her. Is your other friend going too?
- Wookie? – Gaeul nodded – No. Uncle Chullie says Wookie lives too far away to come here.
- I really enjoyed playing with him too. Too bad he doesn't go there.
- He liked to play with us too. He's funny. – and so Arrow scored a goal – Ah! I won.
Gaeul pouted and caught the ball, kicking it towards Arrow to score a goal.
- I won too.
Arrow chuckled.
- Appa will take me to football today. Do you want to go with us?
- I think my appa will take me too. We could go by bus just like before.
- I don't like buses. Dad doesn't drive and then we always have to take the bus.
- But it will be cool, Jiwoon. – Gaeul liked to call Arrow by his other name.
- Don't call me Jiwoon. I'm Arrow.
Gaeul chuckled, put his arm around Arrow's shoulders and hummed:
- Lee Jiwoon.
Arrow narrowed his eyes, dropped the ball and ran after Gaeul who was laughing heartily. But Arrow wasn't angry; he just wanted to play with his best friend who hummed: You don't get me. And Arrow ended up jumping on Gaeul, causing them to fall to the ground and start laughing non-stop. The other kids – who were friends with them at daycare – just shook their heads because they knew Gaeul and Arrow were crazy like that.
But as she thought the two boys were fighting, the teacher quickly separated them and scolded them saying that she would tell their parents about it. Arrow and Gaeul tried to explain that they were just playing, but the woman didn't believe their story and wrote a note in their notebook for their parents to see that.
In the end, when Hyukjae went to get Arrow and Daehyun went to get Gaeul, the teacher talked to the adults who were surprised to hear that the boys fought. After leaving the room and eventually the school with his son, Hyukjae asked:
- Why did you fight Gaeul, Arrow?
- I didn't fight him, appa.
- Why did the teacher say you fought?
- I don't know, but I promise I didn't fight him. – and so Arrow saw Gaeul leaving school with Daehyun – Gaeul!
- Arrow!
The boys ran and hugged each other. Daehyun arched an eyebrow and said:
- I thought the teacher said she saw you two fighting.
Then Gaeul explained:
- We were playing, appa. The teacher lied to you both. I wasn't fighting Arrow.
Hyukjae rubbed his forehead.
- Glad you weren't fighting. I think we should talk to the teacher, since she gave them both a warning.
Daehyun sighed.
- We can do that.
Then the boys asked:
- What about football time?
And Daehyun and Hyukjae didn't know what to do. Maybe they could explain to the teacher what happened, but not until the next day because Arrow and Gaeul really wanted to get out of that kindergarten and go to football class. With that, Daehyun and Hyukjae decided to take the boys away and they were happy.
- Then we can eat pizza, appa? – Arrow asked when Hyukjae put him in the car – And can Gaeul and uncle Daehyun go with us?
- I unfortunately have to work, Arrow, but we can eat pizza.
- And who will take care of me?
- I don't know yet, but we have to go to the restaurant as soon as your football class is over.
Arrow sighed and picked up Boo-Boo to play while Hyukjae drove towards the soccer field where the coach was with other kids. As soon as he got out of the car, Arrow waited for Gaeul – who also got out of his appa's car at the same time – and went with his best friend to Chohee who waved to the bo
