Close Call
Speak to Me
"Guys! Saehee decided to-"
The doctors take out their stethoscope, "That was a close call. Please be sure to make him not yell in the very least. It will help him live longer."
The rest of the guys thank the doctors and bow as they leave the room.
I assume that my dad is asleep now.
Himchan explains, "Your dad almost ran out of breath. The doctors put him to sleep, so when he wakes up, try to be nice to each other."
I let out a small breathe of relief.
I hear footsteps coming my way, so I look up and see Youngjae walking up to me.
"Let's talk."
He pulls my arm and I end up following him, taken aback by our skinship.

We walk out of the hospital and sit on a bench outside. It was silent, so I decided to watch the birds that were feeding in front of us to avoid eye contact.
"I'm sorry."
Wait, he's apologizing? What for?
"I never realized I was bothering you that much."
Suddenly, I recall Daehyun's words:
"He thinks that everything is his fault. Take it easy on him."
I've never seen this side of Youngjae, there isn't even a need for him to be sorry.
"You did nothing wrong. It was my fault for acting on my emotions. I didn't mean to say those words. I'm glad that you're with me."
Damn it. That last line was a bit too much.
"But can I ask you one thing?"
Youngjae takes a glance and looks off again as if he already started to think about my question.
"Why do you take care of me so well? I thought my dad wanted me to take care of myself and you're just here to look after me."
He kept silent for the next five minutes, as if he didn't want to answer it.
Youngjae lets out a deep breath,
"I made a promise with your mom. She was lying on the floor, clutching my hand. Your mother never gave me any orders but right before she died she said her first and last command to me, 'Take care of my daughter.' She knew you never had a good relationship with your father and thought you wouldn't be able to take care of yourself. She was worried about you."

My mom was my role model and inspiration in some sort. Even though she came from a mafia based family, she lived a normal life. She got married to one of her father's subordinates, lived as a housewife, never went on a single mission her whole life.
She was a mother.
I turn my head to Youngjae, he wouldn't stop staring into my eyes. Normally, bring my knees together and hide my head to hide my blushing face.
"What are you going to do after your dad passes?"
Quietly I say, "I'm going to be your boss."
Guess he heard me despite my soft voice.
He smiles.
"Good choice." He pats my head. I hit it away.
"I'm not a kid," I chide, "I am sixteen, I can take care of my own stuff so don't over \do it and take care of yourself instead."
That was a close call. I thought my heart was about to burst. Why is he randomly smiling all of the sudden?
He looks good when he smiles.
I quickly calm myself and look at Youngjae again.
He's smiling even wider almost to the point where he's grinning.
I stand up and start walking without him, but he soon catches up.
"Thank you." he says.
I walk even faster, my heart probably beating twice as fast as my walking pace.
