Chapter 30

Ready for a long update?

“Let’s go?” Luhan came out of the male showers newly showered and dressed in a simple shirt and skinny jeans. She gave back Luhan a flashing smile and walked out of the school together. “So, umma called and she said that your parent’s and mine went to Japan for a spontaneous holiday”, Hyemin recalled the conversation she had with her mother over the phone, moments ago. Hyemin thought it was stupid and unnecessary for her parents; to go on a vacation at last minute. When talking to her mother, Hyemin couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her parent’s immaturity. It helps her wonder if they know that they aren’t seventeen. If they don’t; someone had to remind them.

 “But umma, Luhan just won a game; I thought we were having a feast to celebrate?” Hyemin remind her careless mother who forgot because her thoughts were occupied with this spontaneous trip. She apologized over and over again before revealing they are already in Japan. Her mother and Luhan’s mother were not fulfilling their duties as a good mother, annoying Hyemin to the point where she is about to hang up on her own mother.

She stopped herself from being the once rude, arrogant person she once was and just breathe out her frustration. “Fine” Hyemin came to a conclusion, “I’ll just treat him out to dinner tonight”. She felt bad for her friend, he was meant to go home to a celebration dedicated to his triumph but thanks to their immature parents this won’t be happening anymore. Hyemin is bad at being blunt, so for her it was hard to tell Luhan that their parents left them to be immature brats in Japan. Hyemin’s mother thought it was a good idea to take Luhan out, “Oh and don’t have another party again! Don’t invite any friends, don’t want last times happenings happening again” Mrs Lee strictly stated before hanging up.

Hyemin ended up explaining everything to Luhan as they walked home. It surprised her how Luhan took the information. He just smiled and nodded understanding the situation, for Hyemin she would have reacted the opposite of how Luhan reacted. Hyemin could see through Luhan’s reaction his beautiful personality. He was truly an angel that understood people easily; he was patient and kind which Hyemin loves about him. Even though he was reacting the way he was Hyemin still couldn’t help but feel bad. “I’m sorry” she kept apologizing even though it wasn’t her fault. Luhan found it cute how Hyemin apologised every now and then, making him chuckle at her charm. “Why would you be sorry? It’s not your fault our parent’s left us” Luhan reminded Hyemin.

“I just feel bad that this was meant to be your celebratory dinner and now you have to spend it with me, boring old Hyemin”. The figure of Hyemin bowing her head in guilt reminded Luhan of the good old days. He remembered the frustrating times he had with her, whenever she would down grade herself. The girl always had insecurity issues, it may contribute to the mystery of why Luhan is the only friend she had before entering high school.  It was always hard for Luhan to convince her, but even though it was annoying and repetitive, Luhan was willing to remind the girl every day that she was perfect. He did it once and now he is willing to do it again. Even if he has to remind her every hour of everyday for the rest of his life until it is stuck in her mind. “Stop” Luhan said with an angry tone, “I hate it when you down grade yourself. You’re not boring, in fact, I rather spend time with you then my parents”.

Hyemin didn’t believe the boy, never did she, even when he use to compliment her in the past. She never believed in Luhan’s cute compliments but Luhan elaborated on it even more. “I rather spend time with you because we can talk about everything, so you’re not boring. I rather spend alone time with you then celebrate my winning with my parents because they end up talking about themselves and their business”. Hyemin could imagine how painful it is to endure the long talks about business, talks that Luhan has to go through. At times she had to endure it with her parents to, so she understood exactly what Luhan was going through.

“So what do you have in planned for tonight?” Luhan asked looking down to the girl who is feeling less insecure than before. “I was going to take you out to a restaurant. Maybe that restaurant we always went to, your favourite one?” she suggested. Hyemin didn’t understand her friend; he wanted to hang out with her and only her. Too bad she didn’t seem to get it. As much as it was his favourite restaurant that he hasn’t eaten in, in years, he had to make up some excuse to spend time with her. Yes hanging out in a restaurant is a one on one time he wants from Hyemin, but it feels different hanging out with her at home. At home he is able to feel comfortable and talk to Hyemin solely, as selfish as it seems, Luhan wants Hyemin to spend time with himself.

“It’s too formal, since we are dressed casually let’s do something casual like; having a movie night at home. We haven’t done that in a while” Luhan quickly cooked up some excuse. Luckily Hyemin agreed to his idea, “Well it is your lucky day, it’s your choice to celebrate it. You can do whatever you want, we have the house to ourselves anyway”, this statement by Hyemin aroused an ear of a near bystander. Hyoyeon has been following the two since they have left the school. She needed to do this enable to dig information about this China monkey, Luhan and his intension of taking Yoona and Hyemin away from her. Listening to Hyemin’s conversation gave Hyoyeon a great idea when she mentioned having the house to themselves. She quickly took her phone out of her pocket and texted everyone in her contact list who will be taking part of her excellent idea. She left the lamp post she was hiding behind with a sneaky smirk. “Luhan, you’re going down” Hyoyeon whispered to herself before turning around the opposite direction from Luhan and Hyemin. Hyoyeon got the information she needed and decided to leave the two be before the revelation of her huge plan. She also needed to prepare for this new plan on brining Luhan down, hopefully it will make Hyemin hate Luhan and return to her.

“Are you sure you want to watch a movie?” Hyemin asked as she sat on the couch holding the cooked popcorn she just made. She was still unsure if Luhan only suggested this because he’s too polite to leave Hyemin by herself at home, or he actually wants to do it.  Luhan just brightly nodded, “To be honest I much rather stay home then go out with my soccer team”.

“Isn’t there going to be an after party?” Hyemin was still confused as to why Luhan would reject his team to hang out with her, usually there are after parties where the team attends. It did make Hyemin feel good that he wants to solely hang out with her but still her insecurities brought the best of her. She feels as if she is some burden to Luhan. Hyemin to wants to hang out with Luhan, at the same time she wants him to enjoy his night with his friends. “Yeah there is, but I think it’s postponed because they couldn’t find a venue for it. So on Monday at school don’t tell them that we had the house to ourselves, they would get mad at me for not telling them”. This put Hyemin to ease when Luhan expounded on the topic. Hynkdw

Hyemin just laughed it off, “Umma would go crazy if we have a party here! One time my parents went to my auntie’s house in Busan so I invited Hyoyeon and the group over for a mini party. Hyoyeon ended up inviting others and that time I had no confidence to stand up to her so I let them in. They all got really drunk and high that they trashed the house. The house was so trashed that I was still cleaning the house when my parents came back”. Hyemin smiled at her story remembering her crazy past with Hyoyeon and the group. She suddenly felt an feeling of missing her friends and what she got up to, but she had to remind herself that she is a new person now. The old Hyemin is not acceptable trait that should be followed; it’s not acceptable to Luhan to. Luhan just chuckled at Hyemin’s story, “Did you get in trouble?” Luhan asked being amused at Hyemin’s story. It’s something Hyemin wasn’t proud of, but as they say, bad decision makes good stories. And this was a good story that Luhan seemed interested in.

still mesmerised as she reconciled with her past, Hyemin nodded without looking at the boy. “But that was nothing to the things I have done”, Hyemin looked at Luhan who gave her a serious face. Hearing this ache his heart a bit, hearing the fact that she has done much worse made him itchy at the Hyemin who she once was. In Hyemin’s eyes, Luhan could see that she missed her old friends. He doesn’t want Hyemin coming back to those times again. Since he has started to change her, she has impr
