Twenty Seven 

Dingdong

Kai groaned. He is certainly not a morning person so who on earth would be smart enough to actually wake him at this time of the hour?

Dingdong

“Aish.” He muttered while standing up.

Dingdong

The ringing went faster. “I’m coming! Geez. I can’t even have my sleep..” He twisted the doorknob and opened the door.

“Haeri Noona?”

“Jongin-ah!” Haeri noona looked a bit flustered and in a hurry. Haeri is his mother’s cousin. Kai was fond of her when he was still young because she often bought him some gifts which really spoiled him. Kai hadn’t seen her for a very long time since she got divorced with her husband. He noticed that Haeri noona did change.

“Kai Oppa!” Kai couldn’t help but giggle at the little girl in front of him who was grinning from ear to ear.

“Yumi!” He crouched down and picked her up which also earned him a squeal from her.

“Jongin, listen, can you do me a favor?” Kai looked at Haeri noona with a baffled look.

“Can you take care of Yumi for now? I’m going on an urgent business and I’ve tried everyone I could ask for help but sadly they all said no. So, please? Kai?”

He knew he couldn’t turn her down, Haeri noona also took care of him in the past. And besides, wouldn’t it be nice to have some company in his condo?

“Yeah, sure noona”

Haeri sighed and clasped both of her hands together. “Gomawo Jongin-ah. And don’t worry, I packed all the things she would need in this bag—“ Haeri patted the bag beside her. “—I hope I’m not burdening you Jongin-ah.”

“A-aniyo noona, it’s really okay”

Haeri’s phone rang and she immediately answered the annoying call. After she hunged up, she said goodbye to her only daughter and told Kai all the guidelines.

“Mommy’s going now Yumi.  And remember to be good always okay? And I’m picking you up tomorrow at noon.”

Yumi nodded enthusiastically. “Aigoo, you’re not even gonna cry because Kai oppa is here. Seriously, this girl is your biggest fangirl.”

Kai smirked.

“Mommy, annyeong!” Haeri finally went to her business. Kai was waving her hand while carrying her. When Yumi’s mother was no longer visible both of them went back to the condo.

“Yumi-ah, Kai oppa is just going to go back to sleep okay? You can play there.” Kai pointed to the living room. Honestly, Kai doesn’t know what to do with kids since the only thing he cared right now is sleep.

Finally he could have his precious sleep as he checked that Yumi’s fine playing on her own. He went to his room and flopped on his bed. He snuggled the covers close to him and made himself comfortable on his pillows. Kai closed his eyes for about five seconds then he heard a knock on his door.

“Kai oppa! Let’s play!”

He sighed. He got up and opened the door and let Yumi in.  He heard her giggle.

“Kai oppa is a prince.”

“Really?”

Yumi nodded. “And Yumi is the princess. Let’s go play oppa!”

He really wasn’t in the mood for this.

“But Kai oppa is just gonna sleep for a while okay? Later we’ll play.”

Yumi pouted and tears were starting to pool in her eyes. “But- but Yumi wants to play with oppa!”

Now she was really crying. He shushed her but in only got worse. A slight headache  was starting to form the wails and noises that Yumi was making. Seriously, he needs his sleep. His hands covered his ears as he was thinking of a solution.

That’s right! He could ask for help.

He immediately grabbed his phone and dialed Soori’s number. A few rings went by and she finally answered.

“Kamjjong-ah?”

“Soooooriiii~” Kai used his aegyo voice.

“Gosh. Stop it Kai, it’s disgusting.”

“Angel, I need your help.” Yumi’s getting louder now.

“Oh, so you finally need some help?”

“Please?”

“Okay, fine. What is it?”

“Just come to my condo right now.”

“Well, aren’t you demanding—“

“Thanks, gotta go bye!”

Kai immediately hung up on her because Yumi’s crying hysterically. He bribed her for anything but still she didn’t budge.

Dingdong

When Kai heard the doorbell he yet again, sighed in relief. He immediately went to open the door and there stood his girlfriend. She was unusually girly today. She wore shorts and a blouse which showed her curves. And she also tied her hair into a ponytail. He couldn’t help but blush.

“Kai? Umm…Aren’t you gonna let me in?” Soori tilted her head.

“Ah, yeah. Sorry.”

Soori went in and asked him about the favor he asked her.

“Well, what do you need?”

“Actually, you have to go to my room.” Soori eyed him warily but then she went to his room. Inside, she found a little girl crying.

“Omo! Hey there little girl. Don’t cry.” Soori crouched down in front of Yumi and enveloped her in a hug.

“Shh. Don’t cry, unnie’s here now.” Instantly, the girl’s cries were no more to be heard and instead a faint breathing was replaced. Yumi looked up to see the girl who comforted her and she did find her pretty.

Soori also looked at the girl and smiled while extending her hand. “I’m Soori unnie.” Yumi’s eyes went big and continued on staring at her. Soori found it uncomfortable but eventually Yumi shook her hand.

“So, what’s the problem?”

“Kai oppa won’t play with Yumi.” She pouted.

That guy, Soori thought. Come to think of it, he isn’t even around right now. She sighed. Soori guessed that maybe Kai went back to sleep.. Kai and his sleeping habits. Tsk.

“Well, how about we wake Kai oppa up, neh?”

Yumi nodded and then proceeded to Kai’s room. As soon as they opened the door, Kai was indeed sleeping soundly on his bed. Yumi giggled softly and then jumped on his bed causing Kai to abruptly wake up.

“Kai oppa! Kai oppa! Let’s go outside!”

Kai just groaned and attempted to go back to sleep.

“Yah! Kamjjong! Are you seriously gonna make Yumi cry again?” Ugh, hearing reprimands from Soori is one thing he can’t really stand sometimes. But he knows she’s right.

“Okay, okay.” He muttered while standing up. Yumi was very excited that she giggled all the way to the living room leaving the two of them behind. Kai was still half asleep as he was still rubbing the back of his head with his eyes closed. Upon seeing this, Soori could only chuckle. But she stopped as her eyes trailed down to his body. He wasn’t even wearing a shirt! She blushed and looked away praying he didn’t notice that. He must’ve took it off when he went back to sleep.

But she knew he did. He always did. She heard him laugh a little and his footsteps were nearing her.

Kai put his face near her and smirked. “Are you still not used to me shirtless?”

Soori’s eyes widened and she can’t help but stutter. “W-what? No—“

Soori couldn’t finish her sentence when Kai cut her with a kiss. Her hands were pressed onto his chest and his arms were securely wrapping her around. Being an expert as he is, Kai never failed to make butterflies come out of her stomach. Soori noticed that this kiss seemed kind of needy. She felt his tongue brushing her lips for an entrance but she didn’t quite understand. Yet even so, she also felt the heat was rising up to her cheeks. So Kai broke off the kiss panting while laughing a bit. Soori’s still so innocent when it comes to these things.

“Look how red you are.”

“N-no, I’m not!”

Kai laughed. “Oh angel, if you only knew. I’m gonna freshen myself up then we’ll babysit Yumi together.”

He went away and closed his bathroom door.
