Tuesday went by similar to Monday for Hyunsoo; she spent all her time with Jinyoung.

At lunchtime, as she was eating and laughing with him, Jungkook and Jimin walked past together, not even glancing her way. Jinyoung hadn’t seen, but still, Hyunsoo stood up quickly and called Jimin’s name. She wanted to be with them. She deeply missed Jimin, and she couldn’t understand how he suddenly changed after she got in a relationship. On the other hand, she couldn’t leave Jinyoung either… was she supposed to leave her boyfriend hanging while she went to her friends? The honest answer was that she simply had no clue, but she went with what she thought everyone did. However, like most of the time nowadays, Jimin either hadn’t heard or he was just ignoring Hyunsoo.

She was seeing a lot of Jimin and Jungkook being together. Hyunsoo was jealous. What made her feel worse was that Jimin hadn’t bothered replying to Hyunsoo at all. She had even texted him that morning, asking him if they were meeting up at the bus stop. But, when she got there, Jimin was nowhere to be seen. She knew Jimin well enough to understand that he was angry about something, but how was she going to figure out what it was she did wrong?

“I have great news everyone!” the homeroom teacher started happily. Everyone was settling down in his or her seats excitedly. It was apparent what the teacher was going to mention. “The Halloween party is going to be this Friday at the sports hall for all first years!” He held up a sheet of paper. “This has all the information you need about dressing up, the timing and some rules. Yes, I said rules!” the teacher added at the end, after seeing Heechul give a deep annoyed sigh.

Everyone immediately started their own conversations of the Halloween party when the sheets were being handed out.

“I hope there’s a chance we get to dance together with the boys,” Joy was saying to Hyejin, looking at Jungkook with dreamy eyes.

Jungkook paid no attention to her; instead, he was talking to Jimin about what they were going to wear.

“I think it should stay a surprise,” Jimin said, smiling as Seulgi walked over to join them.

“Fine, but I just want you to know, I’ll be hard as iron when I come,” Jungkook grinned.

“I will come looking for my beast,” Seulgi said, giggling.

Jimin acted shocked. “I am not that beast. Okay, well, maybe I will be…”

They all continued to laugh and talk to each other. On the other side from them, Hyunsoo sat on her desk, watching them with a sad smile. It felt like middle school all over again, but this time it was worse. She had nothing to lose then, but now, she had lost her friends…

“Hyunsoo, you okay?” Jinyoung asked, sitting next to her.

She nodded and said, “I will come on Friday night, looking for my grandmother’s house.”

Jinyoung looked at her, tilting his head. “What are you saying?”

Just then, Hoseok came and sat across from Hyunsoo.

“You guys excited for Friday night then?” he asked.

“Yeah!” Jinyoung said loudly and happily.

Hoseok was mostly looking at Hyunsoo though. He knew how she felt. The same was happening with him.

Unfortunately, that was how they spent their days: walking together with Jinyoung, spending break and lunch together, watching their old friends have a good time, and then go home feeling sad. How much longer Hyunsoo and Hoseok had to deal with this, they didn’t know.

Jinyoung had no idea how they were feeling. He suddenly seemed very oblivious to everything, since he and Hyunsoo became a couple. It was as if he was blinded by the relationship. This didn’t matter to Hyunsoo that much anyway.

Slowly and lately, her brain started knocking new thoughts into her head. Maybe she didn’t love Jinyoung after all? She was starting to doubt her relationship with him. Maybe they should have just stayed friends? It was hard to figure out her brain. No wonder she had no idea what was happening to her friends.

Nevertheless, the day of the Halloween party came. Hyunsoo, Jinyoung and Hoseok went home together as they did so recently, and talked about their outfits. The journey home went by quicker than usual; maybe it was the excitement that made the time fly so quickly.

When Hyunsoo reached her front door, she turned around just in time to see Jungkook and Jimin wave each other off. They seemed like close friends now. A few weeks ago, it used to be Hyunsoo and Jimin waving each other off. Hyunsoo held back her tears and unlocked the door, going inside quickly. Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was from Jinyoung.

Hey, we’ll meet each other at the Halloween party. I have a surprise for you!

Hyunsoo stared at her phone for a bit, then looked out from the window. She then sighed and went up to her to start getting ready. There was noting else she could do. With so much time… and no one to spend it with. Again, her phone buzzed, the screen flashing Hoseok’s name.

Shall we go together?

Hyunsoo smiled and typed a ‘yes!’.

The sports hall didn’t even look like a sports hall. It was like a scene from a movie. Cliché, yes, but it was the first thing that popped into Hyunsoo’s head.

“This is so cool! Better than I expected from the school actually,” Hoseok grinned.

He was dressed up as woody, with a toy horse the size of a cat in his hands. Hyunsoo couldn’t help but laugh when she had first seen him dressed like that. On the other hand, Hoseok couldn’t help but coo at Hyunsoo, because she was dressed as a little red riding hood. The costume made Hyunsoo looked younger than she was, which made the situation more embarrassing and funnier for Hoseok.

They were walking through the entrance, which was lined with pumpkins and black roses, when Hyunsoo caught sight of the trio and their queen bee. It was Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun, all dressed as pirates. It somehow suited their personality…

Hyejin was talking to them quietly, dressed as queen of hearts, looking like she was having the time of her life. Just like a villain does.
