Good Sportsmanship, Yeah Right.
What She Never Told Himhateful person.
“Okay, so how are we going to pick teams?” Woohyun spoke as he juggled the soccer-ball with his feet.
“I don't care as long as I'm against Mimi!” Sungyeol exclaimed which confused everyone since they thought he'd want to be on her team.
“Waeyo? We thought you loved her?” Dongwoo scratched his head and they nodded in agreement.
“Of course I love my Mimi. But if I'm playing her, I could hug her as a defense tactic!” he explained, grinning extremely wide.
“That's sort of creepy, hyung.” Sungjong admitted, wearing a peculiar expression. Then Sungyeol placed the maknae in a head lock, flipped him over and plopped down on top of him as if he was a bean bag chair.
“Sunggyu hyung, save me!” he begged, extending his arm, exasperatedly. The eldest stared at the two with his slits and returned his attention to the rest of the gang.
“So the first team will be Woohyun, Sungyeol, Dongwoo and I. And the second team will be Sungjong, Hoya, Myungsoo and Miyoon.” he decided and everyone seemed okay with it but Hoya.
At the mere mention of her name, Hoya was annoyed once more. “I don't like that arrangement.” he spoke up, stealing the ball from Woohyun. “I want to win and with a weakling like her on my team and Sungyeol's cheating method, we'd have no chance.” She'd probably be distracted with Myungsoo anyways.
“Hoya, this is for fun.” Woohyun sighed, shaking his head. But that didn't matter to Hoya. When it came to sports, he was always competitive. It's what he was best at, so why waste it?
His friends knew this about him and what do they decide to do? Place Wu Miyoon, the girl with no back-bone to defend herself, on his team. “Whatever then, don't expect me to pass her the ball.” he snarled, switching over to his cleats and putting on his shin-guards.
One can see he definitely came prepared, ready to improve his skills and obviously do some hard work. He dropped the ball onto the grass and as quick as a cheetah, dribbled down the field.
When he was a good ten yards away from the net, Hoya skied to a stop and kicked the ball at the perfect angle so that it swerved into the top left-corner of the net. He pumped his fist, lowly, pleased and secretly excited with his achievement.
He had been practicing that shot for weeks and finally he had mastered it. He didn’t know why he felt more motivated to make that shot today compared to the others but he wasn’t complaining.
His back was turned to his friends and there was no one before him to witness it. Witness his smile, the one he rarely displayed in public.
“I got it, Appa.” Hoya tilted his chin up so that he was able to watch the clear baby blue sky, something he did often because he liked it. He inhaled the fresh breeze that just passed and straightened out his posture.
As he turned to the side, revealing a small smile, he was in for a surprise. Miyoon was staring at him eyes widened and lips parted. She rubbed her eyes and by the time she finished, Hoya was plastered with his poker-face.
He glared and walked up to her. In a panic, Miyoon quickly searched for Myungsoo. Finally, she spotted him with everyone else at the other end of the field. When she turned back, Hoya was already in front of her. She swallowed and held her breath.
He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “Tell anyone what you just saw and you’ll regret it, Wu Miyoon.”
Miyoon was never afraid to talk back to someone but with Hoya she was. His aura was so intimidating and scary to her, she couldn’t help but be. The way he also treated her was probably a critical factor.
She nodded slowly and Hoya strutted off back to the group, satisfied. Miyoon stood there in a daze as his smile flashed into her mind. It was the first time she had seen him smile and honestly she thought he looked nice doing that. He actually looked happy for once, something she thought he could never be.
“Xia, what are you doing? Come on!” Myungsoo hollered. She looked up to find everyone in their positions already. She jogged over with a smile but when Hoya turned to her, she wiped it off and stared at the ground.
I’m on his team? At least he won’t have any reasons to slide tackle me or something. She was in deep thought when the game had started without her. It was not until Hoya whizzed pass her did she realize it.
Her legs didn’t move a muscle when Hoya had made the first goal. The other members on their team high-fived him yet he seemed unfazed. He jogged back to the left wing section but not before he scowled at Miyoon.
Just by the expression on his face, she could tell he was currently yelling at her for standing there and doing nothing. She furrowed her brows and tied her hair up.
Again the ball was in play and now Sungjong was carrying it. However, half-way down the field he lost control and kicked the ball too far. This opportunity allowed Woohyun to capture it and sprint down the field. He did the scissoring motion with his feet, fooling Myungsoo and then the score was tied.
“Stop standing there and do something useful!” Hoya barked at her while no one was paying attention.
Miyoon groaned and stomped her feet as she watched him run to play defense. “I was getting ready to!”
As the score turned into one to three with Hoya’s team leading, Dongwoo had the ball in his possession. He had managed to cross and surpass Hoya and Sungjong. Now he was heading right for the goal, the goal Myungsoo was in and Miyoon’s eyes went wide. She had heard rumors about how hard Dongwoo kicked and if he were by chance to hit Myungsoo, there was no doubt that he would get injured.
And there was no way she was going to let that happen even if Myungsoo would be capable of dodging the ball. But he was the goalie and the goalie’s job was to stop the ball from entering the net as all costs.
Throughout the first half, Miyoon was rather passi
