What She Never Told Him

“Seriously, why did I even agree to this?” Miyoon groaned as she pushed the shopping cart around aimlessly, heading in whatever direction her feet led her.

The market wasn't packed but there was a decent amount of people loitering around inside, debating on what they should purchase. “Watch when you topple over because of your head.” She snorted, cackling a little bit.

“If that happens, I'll wonder why it hasn't happened to you yet.” Hoya retorted as he leisurely strolled by Miyoon's side. She glared at him through her peripheral vision and her eyes widened when she saw that he was only wearing the cap.

She abruptly came to a stop and pulled him into an empty aisle. “Yah, why aren't you hiding? Are you trying to get us mobbed?!”

He yanked away from her grip and fixed his jacket. “You said I had a big ego just because I didn't want the public to see my face, right? So I'll prove to you that I wasn't being narcissistic. If we get attacked, it will be your fault for disapproving of my oh so suspicious getup back in the car.” Hoya explained nonchalantly. He then walked passed her and began pushing the cart himself.

“How would it be my fault? I didn't tell him to take them off. Aish, nobody even told him to come!” She exclaimed.

Next, she chased after him and when she reached him, she nearly tripped over the air. Hoya was busy scanning the list in his hand when she snatched it from his hold, bringing it to her possession now. “Yah, I was reading that.” He hissed.

“Wah! This is a lot of stuff!” Miyoon gawked. “Rice, eggs, noodles, chicken, beef—” she inhaled a breath before she resumed. “Bean sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, seaweed, sesame oil—”

“Yeah, I get it.” Hoya sniggered, retrieving the list.

“B-but why do we need so many things?” she questioned.

“Because they like wasting food by giving it to a human garbage disposal like you.” He smirked.

Miyoon’s once baffled face transformed into a disdainful one as she chewed on her bottom lip. Hoya continued pushing the cart, amused while Miyoon trailed him, pretending to kick and hit him from behind. He was completely oblivious to this fact as he searched for each item his grandmother wanted. As he was doing so, he had a tiny smile painted on his face; it was the first time he smiled ever while he was shopping.

Stupid Lee Ho Won. Miyoon was looking at the tiled and freshly waxed floor, bored with just following Hoya around like she was some lost puppy. She kicked an imaginary pebble and continued walking with her hands stuffed into her back pockets.

Then Hoya stopped to get another item off the list without her knowledge.

As he extended his arm, Miyoon was not paying attention and rammed into his side. Her force was so strong, it knocked him off balance and before he knew it, he was lying on the cold floor with Miyoon resting on top of him.

His hand was planted on the bottom part of her back and he was slightly groaning in pain.

It didn’t really hurt, it was just surprising.

“Omo,” Miyoon squeaked as she scrambled to her feet. She started touching her face and then when she was positive she was blushing, she pulled some hair to block the evidence. “I didn’t mean to!”

Hoya opened his eyes and scowled at the very tall Miyoon. He pushed himself up with his arms but still sat on the floor. He rubbed his head in comfort yet carried on with the scowling face. “You don’t even say sorry?” he snapped.

She shuddered at his hostile tone and yanked her hair even further to shield herself. “I’m sorry.” She said.

Miyoon stood there awkwardly causing him to roll his eyes and his teeth.

“Well, are you going to help me up?” Hoya stuck his hand out to her and Miyoon blinked at him.

“Why can’t you get up by yourself?”

“A-ah, my back hurts.” He suddenly winced as he plastered on a pained expression.

Oh crap. Miyoon automatically reached her hand out and locked it with his before she attempted to pull him to his feet.

However, it wasn’t as easy as she had hypothesized it to be.

She was tugging on his arm, but it was like he was dead weight. Hoya didn’t put any effort into getting up. In fact, all of his work was donated to helping it be more difficult for Miyoon to get him standing. But she didn’t know that.

“Why are you so heavy?” she whined as she used both of her hands this time. She stayed her ground, planting her feet. After, she dug her heels into the waxed floor and tried her hardest. Yeah, her hardest couldn’t out due Hoya’s efforts into making things much more difficult for her.

He was completely amused as he watched her really, strenuously, working. “Aish.” He heard her grunt under her breath. When she gave a particular harsh pull, he pretended that she had hurt him.

“Ow, ow. Can’t you be gentler? You’re going to fracture my bones.” He nagged.

Then she threw his arms down and stomped her feet like a child. “Yah! You’re doing this on purpose!” she accused. “You better get up yourself or you’re going to be sleeping there.”

“I’m not doing it on purpose. Do you not know how heavy you are?” he defended.

“Aish, you—” Miyoon raised her fist at him and then waved it around.

“Is that him?”

“It looks like him.”

“Aigoo, he’s so handsome.”

“But who’s that girl?”

“His girlfriend, maybe?”

“But she looks like she’s abusing him.”

At the sound of this conversation, Miyoon’s anger boiled. Her head whipped to the people holding it and the women’s eyes tripled in size. They looked to be a year or two older and Miyoon scoffed seeing they were sporting replicas of Hoya’s jersey. There was no doubt; they were huge fans of his.

“Omo, she was the one who tackled the referee and made the game end early.” One of them whispered.

Miyoon grew embarrassed at how she was recognized and quickly turned away. She met eyes with Hoya was trying to contain his laughter. He gave her a very coy smirk before shrugging his shoulders. She sulked and then, “Excuse me, agasshi.”

A hand fell onto her arm and turned her around. Miyoon was positive they were going to yell at her for ruining the game. And if they were like those sasaeng fans idols often had, she was prepared to assume her defensive position in case they decided to attack her. “Yes?” she was not as nervous as she was on the inside. She held her breath and Hoya did the same.

When one woman reached into her bag, Miyoon feared she was going to pull out a gun or something and she wasn’t the only one with such an active imagination.

Hoya had thought the same thing and he climbed to his feet faster than anyone could bat a lash. He was about to drag Miyoon behind him when, “We’re big fans of yours!” she cried shoving a notebook and pen towards a confused pre-med student.

“Geurae! You were so cool! Maru-sshi did not deserve that. If you didn’t sock that player and maul that corrupted ref, we would have done so ourselves.” The second narrated, enthusiastically.

“What?!” Hoya shouted with his jaw on the floor.

The two women waved him off as they grinned at Miyoon. “Can we please have an autograph?”

Miyoon was definitely confused; none of this was what she was expecting. She scratched the nape of her neck and looked at them unsurely, “I guess?” her slender fingers curled around the pen as she printed her signature on the piece of paper. She also added a smiley face and when the new found fans of Miyoon saw this, they squealed in excitement.

“Can we have a picture too?”

Hoya couldn’t believe this.

“Why not.” Miyoon shrugged.

“Here, can you take it for us please?” the first lady requested as she shoved her phone into Hoya’s hands.

“Are you serious?” he harrumphed angered.

“Would you hurry?” they prodded.

Seeing the defeated and severely offended look on his face, Miyoon also figured out that this was not the outcome he was expecting either. She thought it was seriously one of the funniest things she had ever seen and couldn’t stifle her laughter.

“Yah, are you deaf?” she teased, cocking a brow at him.

He sent her a pointed look before he focused on the camera. “Hana, dul—” not even reaching three yet, he had already snapped the picture.

Lucky enough, the women were all smiling while he counted so the snapshot was golden.

Without a thank you to their famous photographer who was practically invisible to them, the fans squealed with joy before bowing to Miyoon and skipping off, leaving with more than they had bargained for when they came to shop.

Miyoon locked her hands behind her back before she spun around on her heels, grinning. “What was that you were saying about us getting attacked by your fans?”

“Just wait. They didn’t recognize me because of my cap that’s all.” He glared before he started shopping again.

“Sore loser,” she snickered as she ran after him a second time. She bumped his arm and wiggled her brows. “Are you jealous?”

Hoya scoffed, “Of what?”

“That I stole your fans.” She chimed.

“You did not steal my fans.”

“So what did I do back there?”

This woman. Can I just—arghhhh. “Stop talking. You’re annoying me. Who has the big head now?”

She tapped her finger against her chin in a playful manner, “Still you.” She chuckled, making a run for it before he could scold her.

As she gla
