be my baby.

“Chocolate covered pretzels are your favorite, right?” Myungsoo questioned, snapping already thin pretzel sticks in half. Miyoon nodded like a bobble head and smiled. “Good.”

“Why did you ask?” she spoke, her voice filled with curiosity. Myungsoo strolled over to the stove with a wooden spoon, stirred the melting chocolate and glanced over his shoulder.

“You’ll see,” he replied. “Here, you can have this.” He handed the spoon to her which was now coated with glistening chocolate. Next, he turned the fire off and threw on oven mitts for safety. He removed the glass boil from the pot and set it on the table.

“Wah that looks really good. Can I have another scoop!?” Miyoon gawked, the last bit of chocolate. Myungsoo pinched his nose at her and poked her forehead.

“No, you’d eat it all.” He reasoned, folding the chocolate different directions. She pouted and stuck her tongue at him. Myungsoo chuckled at her and one by one, he covered the pretzel sticks in the pool of sweetness.

“What are you doing?” her eyes were wide as she watched her best friend place the recently covered-pretzel on a sheet of parchment paper. He shifted his eyes to her and sighed.

“What does it look like I’m doing? I’m making you your favorite snack, now sit down and be quiet. You’re distracting a genius at work here.” He, amusedly, ordered as he pretended to be upset.

“Tch, bossy housewife.” Miyoon grumbled, as she swung the spoon behind Myungsoo’s head, making it seem like she was about to strike him.

“I heard that and stop pretending to hit me,” Myungsoo pointed out as he continued with the procedure of creating the chocolate-covered pretzels. She stiffened and guiltily tossed the spoon onto the counter.

Suddenly, the timer Myungsoo had set when he plopped the cake into the oven went off. That was a sign to him that the cake was ready to come out but because his hands were smeared with chocolate, he couldn’t retrieve the item. “Xia, can you take the cake out of the oven for me? Make sure you turn it off first.”

“I know that much, I’m not slow!” she scowled, doing just as he told her to do. She opened the over and was greeted by a wave off heat. The sweet aroma of the chocolate dessert filled the air, resulting in a giddy Miyoon.

Without a second thought, she reached in and when her fingertips brushed against the pan, she yelped. “Ow!”

At the sound of her cry, Myungsoo spun fast on his heels and ran over to her. Her fingertips were bright red, indicating she was burned. “Gwenchana? Aigoo, why didn’t you wear the oven mitts?” he frowned, dragging her to the sink.

The cold water came pouring out as he held her hand under it. “You didn’t tell me to wear any,” she winced. It hurt like hell. She was on the brink of tears but she couldn’t let Myungsoo see her cry so she bit on her bottom lip, enduring the pain.

“Where’s the first aid kit?” he asked, worried. Aish, Kim Myungsoo, you should have remembered how clumsy she is.

“It’s in the cabinet in the bathroom,” she replied, trying to ignore the stinging. But an eleven year old girl could only take so much.

“Stay right there and keep your hand under the water,” Myungsoo prompted before he sprinted to the bathroom.

When he was out of sight, Miyoon groaned. “It hurts so bad,” she whimpered as tears began to flee from her eyes. You should have known better, babo!

Her hand began to tremble while her lips quivered. “He must think I’m really stupid now,” she scolded herself. Then she heard footsteps running towards her again.

“I found them, Xia. Come here,” he instructed. Miyoon turned the faucet and wiped away her tears so that he wasn’t able to see them. She trudged over to him with her bottom lip jutted out, looking as if she wanted to cry again. “It’s okay, Oppa will make it feel better.” He assured as he pulled out an ointment.

Miyoon nodded but averted her eyes not wanting to watch him apply the ointment incase it would hurt even more. However, instead of stinging and pain, she felt something warm press on each of the fingertips which was injured. She turned his direction again, to find Myungsoo kissing the last fingertip.

Her jaw dropped again as her face heated up. Myungsoo glanced up at her and smiled, “My mom always kissed my injuries to make me feel better,” he narrated as he applied the ointment.

“Ahh,” she hissed, yanking her hand away.

“What happened!?” Xiumin hollered, rushing in to the rescue. The show that the boys were watching went on commercial therefore he had decided to grab a snack, of course and that’s when he heard Miyoon’s cry.

Miyoon hid her hand behind her back and shook her head. “Nothing,”

“A burn like that is not nothing! Wu Miyoon, sit down so I could finish the treatment!” Myungsoo’s face was stern and Miyoon knew he was serious. She rarely encountered this side of him and she found him as frightening as the bullies he had once saved her from. She sulked over and took her seat in front of him.

“BURN?!” Kris’ voice echoed throughout the entire house as he and Tao bolted into the kitchen. He shoved Myungsoo aside and examined his sister’s hand. “What were you thinking!? We have to go to the doctors! What were you doing?!”

Yup, Kris’ overprotective mode was .

“I was—” Miyoon paused for if she was to state that she was following Myungsoo’s order, he would not be able to escape her brother’s wrath. She thought of a logical lie but she couldn’t come up with any.

“Well?” Tao prodded.

“It was my fault. I asked her to take the cake out of the oven and forgot to remind her of the mitts.” Myungsoo admitted.

Kris froze as he locked eyes with his sister, they had that pleading look to them therefore he knew she was begging him not to make a big deal out of it. He really wanted to scream at Myungsoo for making Miyoon do that especially with her forgetful personality but he restrained himself from doing so for her sake.

He clenched his teeth as he observed Myungsoo, diligently, applying the ointment on the rest of her wounds. Just what are you thinking?

Soon the missing members also began to pile in, unaware of the situation. “What smells good?” Lay inhaled and smiled.

“Meimei’s burning flesh doesn’t smell good, what are you talking about gege?” Tao hissed, throwing them off guard.

At his words, Myungsoo experienced a pang of guilt. He glanced up to see his best friend with her eyes clamped shut while he wrapped the tips of her fingers with a bandage. Again he lifted them and kissed each one and now Miyoon’s jaw was not the only one dropped.

Kris had his hands transformed into fists and he seriously was seconds away from pouncing on the kid. The fury inside him was swelling and he was like a ticking time bomb that was ready to explode any second.

No one and he meant no one was allowed to kiss his baby sister anywhere or in any sort besides his parents. He didn’t care if it was a kiss on her shoe or a blow kiss, if it was directed to Miyoon, he did not approve of it.

And Myungsoo was no different.

However, before he was able to do anything violent, Xiumin went in for the save. “Xiamei come here, don’t let people kiss it, it might worsen!” he yanked her off the chair and into the embrace of Kris. Kris stared at her, sternly, but she didn’t notice.

Miyoon blushed at his outburst with the mention of the word kiss. So it was real. He did kiss me and I’m not the only one to see it. I’m not crazy. Oppa kissed me, twice. “I think it feels better, komawo Myungsoo.” Their eyes locked for a few seconds as she sent him a sincere smile.

Soon enough he returned the smile which caused her heart to flutter. The other six pairs of eyes were focused on the two and their exchange. They knew what was going to happen if Kris was to be alone with Myungsoo and they could not let that happen. Even if they didn’t like the idea of Myungsoo being so touchy-feely with their meimei, there wasn’t much they could do.

This was Miyoon’s life, not theirs. What she wanted to do was up to her, they couldn’t dictate the decisions she made or choose paths for her to take. They understood that, well besides Kris. But he is her biological brother, so it makes sense that he would be the most overprotective. It was understandable.

“Who told you to try and cook? Who even let you into the kitchen with another kid?” he scolded Miyo
