disturbance.

“Would it be okay if I went to visit him at his house?” Miyoon was located in a taxi which one of the players had kindly called for her since her ride, Hoya, was obviously not there to her home.

Two days had passed by after his departure and even though Miyoon would have preferred being with him, his absence did allow her, one: to be more independent and two: the privilege for her to get more familiarized with the Kangnam soccer team. And at the end of it all, Miyoon had to admit that she had grown very fond of this particular group of guys.

You could say she had enjoyed herself thoroughly yet she was not completely blissful.

Her mind still wandered back to Hoya every morning and night and she couldn’t help but feel a little disheartened. She also felt this alienated sensation but couldn’t figure out why she was experiencing such a feeling. All she could do was wait for time to wither away so that she would be able to be reunited with Hoya again.

And now that she was back in the same city once again, her mood was brightened but she was still iffy and debating on the idea. Would she seem to clingy and desperate if the first thing she decided to do was go and see a man who wasn’t even technically speaking hers?

Miyoon didn’t know but right now, she didn’t care because she had to check up on him to make sure he and everyone else in his household were safe and sound. With her decision made, Miyoon told the driver Hoya’s address and sunk into the cushion of the backseat as the vehicle took the designated route

As Miyoon witnessed everything whisking away into things she could barely make out down the highway, she exhaled and closed her eyes. Those blurry scenes were causing her brain to throb against her skull. In order to subdue the minor pain, or try to anyways, Miyoon rested her head against the window pane as she smiled graciously. She stayed in that same position until the driver announced to her that they had arrived.

At the news, Miyoon’s lids hoisted upwards in less than three seconds.

She turned to her right and indeed they had reached Hoya’s residence. Her heart raced as she controlled a wide and idiotic grin from infringing her face.

After forty-eight hours of separation, the last thing she wanted to look like in front of the man her heart belonged to was foolish. Things had changed between them now since they were in that kind of relationship. And somehow Miyoon knew there were certain ways she should behave like being reserved and classy but at the same time she didn’t want to hinder her true self from coming to light. Her true self was the part telling her that she should go and visit the Lees just to be in the safe side.

“Do you want me to wait for you, agasshi?” The man politely asked as he looked at Miyoon through the mirror.

She handed him more than the amount due, gathered her belongings and shook her head. “Nope. I’m sure I can manage. Keep the change.” Shutting the door, she adjusted the straps of her bags.

She then swiveled around and smiled in the direction of the house. It wasn’t the building itself which brought warmth to her heart but the people whom habituated inside. “Maybe you can finally tell him you actually like him with real words.” Miyoon chuckled to herself. She was half-way up the driveway when she noticed Hoya’s car was missing.

Her smile fell when she realized he wasn’t home. But nonetheless, she continued to the front door. If somebody was home, they could at least explain to her what it was that had happened which forced Hoya to leave the team trip so suddenly.

Her finger had jabbed the doorbell and from the outside, Miyoon was able to hear the melodious chiming of the bells. Once it died down though and the tune came to an end, she was surprised to find no one answering her.

She was about to ring it again but then the door opened. She looked up and smiled, “Annyonghaeseyo, omonim.” She was in the midst of bowing respectfully when Mrs. Lee grabbed her arm and dragged her inside.

Miyoon stumbled on her feet and as she spun around to ask the elder what this was all about, Mrs. Lee shushed her and guided Miyoon to the patio out back. She wasn’t sure what was going on as she stood there, watching as Hoya’s mother looked somewhere off into the distance.

Her expression was blank and Miyoon couldn’t make anything of the situation. Therefore, the two of them just remained in silence. Did something awful happen? Miyoon thought, feeling like she was going to be sick to her stomach.

Her question was finally answered, as Mrs. Lee talked. “Miyoon-ah, did something happen between you and Hoya?” Her question caught the young woman off guard as she did nothing but stare. What was the meaning of such a question?

“I guess you could say that?” she replied hesitantly. Stagnant on what Mrs. Lee was really targeting.

“So you two did get into a fight?” creases appeared on Mrs. Lee’s forehead as she exhaled and shook her head.

“What?” Miyoon coughed out, baffled. “Why—why would you think that we got into a fight?”

“Because when Hoya came home, he started rambling on about you never setting foot into this house again and how he never wanted to hear your name ever again. To be frank, I was a bit terrified. I had never seen my baby boy so angry and to think it had something to do with you? Honestly, Miyoon-ah, while you two were out on the team trip did you have a quarrel of some sort?”

“A quarrel?” Miyoon gave her a meek smile. “It was more of a small disagreement but would he seriously get that mad at me? Can’t he trust me?” she grumbled.

And then they heard the door loudly clang shut. Miyoon jolted up in fret as Mrs. Lee’s eyes rounded.

“It doesn’t seem small to me. But I think that’s him. You should leave until we figure out what this is really about. I will call you and let you know when you can come over but for now, let’s not get caught.”

As Miyoon was about to exit through the small gate he shouted, “Who the hell let you in here?!”  She flinched at his tone and clamped her eyes shut. She felt someone clawing into her shoulder and then spinning her around.

She didn’t dare to look at him and Hoya for a brief second, softened as he looked at her. She seemed so frightened and confused but no—he couldn’t care. He released her roughly and whipped his head away.

“Never come back here. I have other things in my life to focus on and they no longer include you.” That was the gentlest he could be but it was still harsh.

“Yah!” Miyoon exclaimed. She faced him and frowned. “Are you that mad that I talked to Myungsoo? I mean that’s all we did. And how come you left me without saying a word? Do you know how worried I was when I couldn’t find you? All I saw were your broken belongings and you don’t know how scared I got. What happened? Did halmeoni or abeonim get hurt?” once her rambling ceased, Hoya did nothing but stare at her.

He did not utter a single word as he turned around and marched back into his house. Talked? All you did was talk? Maybe if you told me the truth, I could forgive you but now I'm going to have to return the favor.

“I guess you can just tell me during the next game!” she pointed out but little did she know that soon enough, her interning position would change and she would no longer be able to see Hoya as much as she wanted to without him giving her the cold shoulder or stink-eye.

As the days went on, Miyoon found herself getting more caught up with the hospital and helping with the planning of Kris’s and Yunhee’s reception. She had been transferred from her position as a medical personnel under Dr. Yoo which meant her time spent with the team and Hoya had been cut short. Of course, she protested it but there wasn't much she could do. She was only an intern and she had to take what she was handed. She didn't know why they had decided to move her to the children's hospital permanently but she couldn't complain.

There were so many things going on at once, she was beginning to crack.

All the pressure, all the expectations and dependency were getting too heavy for Miyoon to handle alone. She was getting stressed but because there wasn’t anyone she could really vent and express herself to, it kept building and building, growing larger on her shoulders.

The one person who she knew had the ability to take away all of her worries and problems was Hoya but at the moment, it seemed like he was MIA. So there wasn’t much she could do about it.

Miyoon hadn’t seen or heard much of Hoya during those days but never did the thought that he might have been intentionally avoiding her crossed into Miyoon’s mind. She always believed he was too busy with his practices and training. Doing the things which made him happy and if he needed to focus, she wasn’t going to go bother him every day like a troublesome nuisance.

Nor was she able to call or text him since she had no idea where it was that she had left her phone. Just another disadvantage of having a forgetful mind. She was making this phone loss thing a habit and she did not like it. She also avoided going to his house no matter how much her heart was begging her to.

She really, really missed him and his family but she would not go unless summoned.

After the conversation she had with his mother, she had to admit that Hoya’s attitude and behavior towards her were cruel and hotheaded. What led to the explosion? She hadn’t the slightest clue. But she just thought he might have still bee
