What She Never Told Him

i don't know.

“So we’re having our annual Christmas party? Do I have to go?”

“Yes, Xiazi. You have to go.” Mrs. Wu answered, as she examined the flowering arrangements. She placed a check on her clipboard and Miyoon’s shoulders deflated.

“But it’s never fun, omma. I know no one besides Yifan and his friends,” she groaned, following her mother around like a puppy. Mrs. Wu stopped and turned to her daughter.

“Fine, you can invite friends over. But make sure they are on their best behavior.” She ordered as she left to check the caterers. Miyoon pumped a fist in the air and did a little dance.

“This is going to be a fun party!” she cheesed and Miyoon had in mind at least nine people she was going to invite. It would have been seven, but Taela would have whined and cried about not being able to come to see Kris and Hoya was part of the Infinite package. There was no way she couldn’t not invite him.

The kids were all on Christmas break, which meant that Miyoon had to go out on her own and ask them to come. The party was two days away but she did not want to do things last minute when it came to her entertainment. Therefore, she got dressed in warm sweatpants and a thick coat. She coiled a scarf around her face and neck and threw on the panda earmuffs Tao had gotten for her last Christmas. She slipped into her gloves and boots and was prepared for the icy weather.

“Are you going out to war or something?” Kris questioned as he strode by her to the fridge.

Miyoon pulled her scarf down so that she was able to speak. “No, I’m going to invite Myungsoo and my other friends to the party.”

“What friends?” he provoked. Miyoon stuck her tongue at him before bolting out the door.

She stuffed her hands into her pockets and tried her best not to fall on her as she walked to Myungsoo's house. It had been three days since she last saw him and she couldn't hide her excitement.

She knocked on the door and Myungsoo opened up for her. “Aw, it's a cute little Eskimo!” he oozed. Miyoon chuckled at his silliness and stepped into the warmth. She heard bickering and fighting from several people and had on a confused expression. “Guys' hangout day. I would have invited you too but it's against the rules.” he explained.

“Does that mean everyone's here?” she squealed. Her job just became a whole lot easier. The latter nodded and without removing her hood, scarf or anything, Miyoon charged towards the heart of the commotion. Clumsy enough, she tripped over the carpet and landed flat on the floor.

The boys ceased the ruckus and stared at the body lying on the floor. “Ow,” Miyoon spoke, her face still connected to the floor.

“It's alive!” Dongwoo yelped, imitating the mad scientist from the Frankenstein movie he had seen.

“What is it?” Sungjong whispered, as he lightly poked Miyoon with his foot.

“Yah, yah. Why aren't you helping her up?” Myungsoo sneered, rushing over and pulling Miyoon to her feet. He retracted the hood, took off the earmuffs and began to unravel her scarf. The Infinite boys observed him like he was unveiling a mummy besides Hoya who had an idea of who she was. For there was only one girl he knew of that was this clumsy. He clucked his tongue and continued with what he was doing before Miyoon interrupted them.

“Mimi!” Sungyeol screeched, absorbing her into a bear-hug as he spun her around... and around... and around.

She was starting to feel dizzy and nauseous and the fall she had worsened the feeling in her stomach. “Sungyeol-ah put me down. I don't feel good.” she was queasy and woozy; just from her voice they could tell.

Immediately, the giant set her down and wore a sorrowful expression. Her world was still spinning as she fumbled onto the couch. She held onto her tummy and had a hand over . Myungsoo took note of this and sat down besides her. He pressed the back of his hand on Miyoon's forehead and then both of her cheeks. “Your temperature is fine. Maybe you got a concussion.” he panicked.

“With all the clothes she's wearing, I'm pretty sure her fall was cushioned.” Hoya disagreed rather logically.

“I'm feeling a little better.” she muttered once the room remained in one place and her stomach ceased churning. “Why did you come, Miyoon?” Sunggyu asked.

“And ruin our guys' day.” Hoya grumbled under his breath. The harshness and lack of decency from him was still getting to her even though she barely interacted with him in the last few weeks. Ten to be exact and here he was again, grouchier than ever.

She clawed on her thighs which were protected by two layers of leggings and sweatpants. “I just wanted to invite you all to the Christmas party my parents are having on Christmas Eve.” she admitted. “I thought it would be really fun and this will be the first year any of my friends get to come.”

“You mean even Myungsoo has never been? I mean he's your best friend.” Woohyun gawked.

“Nope, I'm usually busy with my own family but this year we aren't doing anything. So I guess you could count me in.” Myungsoo sing-songed, cutely.

“Me too because it means I get to go to Mimi's house” Sungyeol rejoiced.

“Sure thing,” Sungjong joined.

“I don't see why not.” Woohyun answered.

“Part-tay. You can count me in.” Dongwoo cheered.

“Someone's got to keep these kids under control." Sunggyu half-joked and now there was only one person who didn't reply.

“I'll pass, I don't like going over to a stranger's house.” he said, nonchalantly. And Hoya's behavior towards Miyoon was not going unnoticed by his friends.

At the beginning, they didn't think much about it because that was how he was with people he barely knew. But it's been a few years now since Miyoon first approached the gang and they expected him to have warmed up to her already. However, they were positive that wasn't going to happen for a while. What they couldn't fathom was why.

Everyone was on good terms with Miyoon; she was cute but not clingy. Humorous and not snobby. Athletic and fun. They were sure she'd get along best with Hoya but not anymore. What was going on with the two? No one had even the slightest clue. “You still consider her a stranger? Yeesh,” Dongwoo, boldly, pointed out.

Hoya remained passive and indifferent, not bothering to answer the remark. “It's okay. I'm sure Howon-sshi has other plans in mind.” Miyoon cut in. “But by chance would anyone know where Chunji lives?”

“Why don't you ask Taela, I think she has his number.” Myungsoo suggested. Miyoon nodded and left to find her source of information.

“Hoya, when are you going to stop treating Miyoon like this?” Sunggyu sighed.

“Like what? Just because you guys like her, doesn't mean I have to.” he retorted.

“Then why don't you like her?” Woohyun questioned.

“Do you have a reason for why you like singing in the shower?” Hoya countered.

“Because I feel like it. It's me.” Woohyun stated.

“Exactly, now let's back to our game.”

As Miyoon arrived at Taela’s room, she had accidentally overheard her conversation. The door was slightly cracked open but even then, she wasn’t able to see much. “Chanhee Oppa, you’re so cute!” Taela gushed.

“And on to the next one she goes.” Miyoon mumbled.

“Ah, you think I am too? Omo, oppa you’re so sweet!” she screamed and Miyoon wasn’t sure what she should do next. For some reason she was feeling various emotions. She wasn’t jealous like she was when it involved Myungsoo and other girls, instead she felt worried for Chunji.

If there was a chance he liked Taela, things were not going to go well. She knew exactly how Taela worked and Chunji wouldn’t last a week with her before she moved on to another boy. Miyoon exhaled and whacked her head, “Otteokae, molla, molla.” Whatever, just go in and ask her first. I mean he’s already on the phone with her.

She knocked and the force from her hand, pushed the door open to reveal Taela kissing a teddy bear. Miyoon’s jaw literally hit the floor as Taela turned pink. “Miyoon! Why— you didn’t hear anything did you?”

Miyoon’s mind comprehended the situation and she felt alleviated to discover that Taela was only talking to herself while using a stuffed animal. At least he’s safe for now. She shook her head, fervently and Taela cooled down a bit. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh I just invited Myungsoo and everyone to the Christmas party, you’re coming right?”

Taela thought about it and then answered, “No. I see enough of Oppa and his friends. I’ll stay home.” And that response was quite a shocker to Miyoon but she wasn’t going to complain.

“Arasso, but would you happen to have Chunji’s number? I was going to invite him too.” Miyoon threw in and Taela’s entire demeanor changed.

“Jinjja? Oppa would be there?” she shrieked
