lies.

“The food is all here?”

“Neh,”

“You can set it up in the kitchen for now.” The woman nodded and followed her orders. Then two men came in carrying a huge ice sculpture of a guitar with the number 24 carved in the middle. “Okay you can just set it up on that table.” Miyoon instructed as she checked the items off old fashion style. With a pen and notepad. Where'd I put my phone? Aish. Seriously.

“Neh agasshi. But you must keep the temperature here below 30 degrees if you want it to remain cold until the party.” One man advised.

“Alright,” Miyoon tore her eyes away from the screen and ran over to adjust the temperature.

It was the afternoon of Myungsoo’s party and fortunately enough for her Sunggyu had an empty condo he allowed her to use which made her traveling much easier since it wasn’t that far from her house. And with it being free she saved a lot of money.

She was up since seven in the morning running errands and tying up loose ends. And now she was currently setting up the decorations and arranging the food wanting everything to be absolutely perfect for tonight’s event. She was only one person but she was doing the job of ten. Yet she was fine with it. She didn’t complain or nag, why? Because this was all for Myungsoo.

The man she loved and he was worth it.

Everything was nearly set and all Miyoon needed to do now was hang up the big banner. She stared at the walls and ceilings and huffed. She pulled over a ladder and started climbing up it with one part of the banner in . Miyoon had the roll of tape around her wrist like an oversized bracelet and when she reached the desired height she made sure she was stabilized.

“Just stay steady, Xia.” She told herself as she bit off her first piece of tape. Ever so carefully she positioned the end of the banner where she desired it to be. When she finished on that side she went to the other and repeated the procedure.

Achieving what she had never done before, Miyoon descended down the rungs and stepped back to see how it looked. And in her opinion the place looked exquisite. She heaved out a huge sigh of relief as she checked the time. It was nearly three and the party was at six. This meant she had three hours to get ready and Miyoon wasn’t sure if she would be ready in time.

For she wanted to look exceptionally beautiful tonight. By doing so, Miyoon was hoping that maybe just maybe she would stand out to Myungsoo in a different light and he would finally see her as more than a dongsaeng and best friend. She didn’t want to be seen as a kid to him or a little sister, she wanted to be seen as a woman who was capable of loving him with all she had.

She literally had everything planned out from how her hair would be styled to the shoes she would be dreading in. And for the first time Wu Xiazi actually gave a damn about how she looked.

To be certain that everything was in order, Miyoon went around and did a double check on everything. She made sure all the workers left and then she locked the door and headed off to the salon.

Miyoon had been to salons before back in her high school days but now that she was in college these places were completely foreign to her. As she entered the place she was engulfed into a hairspray atmosphere. She covered and nose and scurried over to the front desk. “Annyonghaeseyo, I have an appointment to style my hair.”

The woman glanced up from filing her nail and nudged her head back to the left corner. Miyoon followed her head and saw a woman napping in one of the chairs. She gave her a small nod before making her way over there. How can this place be the city’s best salon? “Eh ehm.”

The tired woman slowly opened her eyes and blinked at Miyoon. She yawned and got up minutes after. Miyoon guessed she had been sleeping for a long time. She came up with this conclusion because the leather seat the stylist had stuck to her skin. So when she was getting off she could clearly hear the separation taking place.

It kind of grossed Miyoon out but nonetheless she had to withstand it because after all beauty has a price. “Are you here to see me?”

“I don’t know, the receptionist just told me to come here.” She replied.

The woman nodded and as Miyoon looked closer she saw that her nametag read Min Jaeree. She looked like she was in her mid-thirties and with the clown makeup she was wearing, Miyoon was thanking God that she decided to do her makeup elsewhere.

“Okay. Just head over to the rinsing station and I’ll be over in a moment.” Jaeree stated.

Miyoon nodded and did as told. As she settled herself into the chair she closed her eyes and prayed everything would go the way she wanted to just this one time.

Soon she felt the warm water against her scalp and Jaeree massaging and lathing shampoo into her hair. Relax Xia. Trust her. It will come out fine. And throughout the entire session that was all Miyoon kept saying to herself. Once the styling took place, she told Jaeree she wanted her hair to be in voluptuous locks yet at the same time have them look natural.

She was pretty sure she was contradicting herself but when Jaeree said she could do it, Miyoon worried no further as she sat there with her eyes closed.

“I just love your hair!” the makeup artist Miyoon hired to come over to her house complimented.

“Komawo, I do too.” She smiled as she stared at her reflection. Just this and the dress and you’re all set! Miyoon glanced over to the clock and saw that she had a little under an hour left. I hope tonight will be a memorable one.

After a good thirty minutes the light makeup Miyoon had requested met her standards. She paid the woman and showed her out. After the door closed she bolted to her room. She pulled out the beautiful dress she had bought just for his birthday and held it to her chest. Thankfully it was also a nice day as well.

Miyoon was slipping into her heels when one of the maids rushed in and handed her the phone. It was a call from Sunggyu. “Yeobosayo sunbae?”

“Miyoon-ah! Should I start letting people in?” he asked.

“Of course. I’m going to get Myungsoo now. We’ll be there shortly.” She replied.

“Arasso, see you two in a bit.”

“Mhm.”

“And Miyoon?”

“Neh?”

“Thanks for loving our Myungsoo so much. Who knows where he’d be without you.” After that Sunggyu hung up leaving her rather stunned.

“There’s no way he knows.” She denied. “He was probably just talking about the friendly love not the romantic kind. You’re fine Xia. Time to pick up the birthday boy.”

It obviously took Miyoon less than two minutes to reach Myungsoo’s house since they lived so close and as she stood in front of the door her hands were trembling. She swallowed her saliva and closed her eyes as she hit the doorbell. What’s he going to think? Will he buy it? Do I look pretty enough? She was mentally panicking every second there was no answer and when the door cracked open at last she opened her eyes.

When Myungsoo opened the door a little displeased because of the message he had just received he was stunned to find Miyoon standing before him looking rather breathtaking. She was in a flowy aquamarine dress which was short in the front but long in the back. It had floral print all over it accompanied by a pink belt which showed her figure. Her hair was down and curled out to perfection.

MyungSoo had never seen her so dressed up before and he had to admit she was a sight worth seeing. He cleared his throat and finally managed to pry his eyes off of her. “Xia?”

“O-oppa.” She stammered awkwardly scratching her head. “Do you think you could do me a really big favor?”

“S-sure.” His voice cracked and he mentally slapped himself. “Come in.” he invited. And as Miyoon entered she walked over to the couch and took a seat. Myungsoo couldn’t help but gape as he took a seat across from her.

It was quiet until she spoke up. “Do you think you can be my date to a party?” She squawked not meeting his eyes. Of course this was only her cover up story.

Myungsoo didn’t say anything as he stared at her and then he erupted like Mount Vesuvius. “You want me to be your date to some party? Xia! Since when did you party?!” Myungsoo exclaimed jumping off of the couch.

“Yah oppa, I said pretend to be my date. I didn’t want to go but this guy kept bothering me about it so I said I was going and that I already had a date!” Miyoon lied some more trying to sell her story.

“Bo? A guy was asking you? Tch what guy would ask you out?” he teased cocking a brow. Miyoon felt a sting in her heart from his words. Although they joked around like that often when they were younger, they were adults now.

“Fine if you don’t want to help me, I’ll just go alone and get hit on.” She declared standing up and stomping over to the door. As her arm extended out to the handle Myungsoo stiffened.

“Hit on?! Aniya! Your brother would kill me if he found out I let you become a victim of some sleazy guy. Arasso, arasso I’ll go.” He gave i
