The Morning After.
What She Never Told Himshy boy.
“Oh my god,” Xiumin was the first to reach the table, of course and when he did, he was practically drooling a pond.
Laid out beautifully on the table was an extravagant breakfast. And what made it all the more special was that it was American style. There were pancakes, waffles, toast, French-toast, scrambled-eggs, sunny-side eggs, hash-browns, bacon and the list was never-ending. Meals at the Wu’s house were always top-notch.
The other boys dashed to the bathroom and sinks to wash up and being the smart little dumpling he was, that had been the first thing Xiumin had done when he woke up which ultimately meant that he was the first one to stuff his face with the delicious food.
“Yah pahli, before Baozi eats it all!” Luhan urged the others.
“There are five of us in here, what do you expect?” Kris rebutted as he continued to brush his teeth.
“By the time we finish there won’t be any food left for us,” Chen grumbled after gurgling and spitting out the water.
“It’s a good thing we have our toothbrushes here,” Myungsoo whispered, squirting toothpaste onto his utensil and then Miyoon’s. They were currently in the kitchen, cleaning themselves up.
“I knew it was going to be like this,” she replied as she scrubbed her pearly-whites, leaving a minty aftertaste.
The night before, Miyoon had a feeling this was going to happen therefore she had decided to leave their toothbrushes and a tube of paste in the kitchen so it would be easier for them. Sure, there were multiple washrooms in the home, but they were located all too far for them to reach the table in time.
Miyoon shook her head as she heard Kris and the boys babbling and complaining to one another in the bathroom. Dorks.
When she was rinsing , Myungsoo bumped their hips, causing Miyoon to stumble to the side. She furrowed her brows and returned the favor. This time Myungsoo landed on the floor followed by a mehrong from her.
At the table, the two youngest discovered Xiumin hiding behind a stack of pancakes. There was a chunk of butter resting at the top, beginning to melt as it oozed down the side along with the dripping syrup.
“I’m guessing that’s not your first plate,” Miyoon teased as she took a seat next to him. Xiumin grinned at her with his mouth completely stuffed. She turned to Myungsoo to find him placing waffles on his plate and French-toast on hers. Next he grabbed three slices of bacon for them both, then a sunny-side egg for himself and scrambled ones for Miyoon.
They weren’t called best friends for nothing; Myungsoo knew almost all of Miyoon’s likes and dislikes, habits and trivia. But the one thing he didn’t know was probably the most important.
“Komawo Myungsoo Oppa,” she thanked, shyly, picking up her knife and fork.
“Hold on, I forgot the syrup.” He panicked. He scurried off into the kitchen and returned moments later with a small saucer. He took the syrup and poured it into the dish. Another habit he picked up from Miyoon was that she preferred dipping her French-toast instead of drowning them in syrup. “There you go,” he beamed, tousling her hair. “I forgot how cute you looked with bed-head.”
For a second, Miyoon was in a daze because of Myungsoo’s thoughtfulness and him thinking that she was cute. She was grinning to herself without even realizing that the others had arrived.
And then the last part of his compliment echoed through her mind. Miyoon swiped up her spoon and stared at her reflection. Her hair was disheveled with random parts sticking out here and there.
“Nice hair,” Kris mocked as he plopped down right across from his sister. Miyoon scowled at him but soon she was smirking.
“Same to you,” she rebutted, leaning over to show him his own reflection. Kris’ hair just like hers was deranged and messy.
“You two really are siblings,” Lay stated as he grabbed a waffle for himself.
“But Xiamei is definitely cuter!” Xiumin defended once he had wolfed down his plate.
“You think everyone is cute, Baozi.” Chen rolled his eyes and sipped his tea.
“Andwae, I don’t think you’re cute!” he replied, making a disgusted face which caused everyone to laugh.
“It’s because you think I’m handsome right?” Chen made a kissy face and Miyoon gagged. She had forgotten about their strange personalities.
She looked at Myungsoo who seemed amused. “I think you’re pretty cute, Xia. Since you know I’m a guy and I don’t like judging other boys on their looks.” He whispered, nudging her with his elbow.
Miyoon sulked a bit and nodded. Of course he’d think a girl is cuter than a boy, well maybe not in Luhan’s case.
“Hey, I wanted that!” Tao exclaimed when Xiumin got hold of the last strip of bacon. The older one cheesed and shook his head as he teasingly and gradually devoured the piece of meat. “Gege,” he pouted, facing Kris who had one untouched piece of bacon on his plate.
“No, I’m hungry.” Kris replied, avoiding eye contact.
“Oh Duizhang, just give it to him. We all know that’s what you’re going to end up doing anyways.” Luhan commented.
“Yeah, why waste time and put us all through that torture.” Chen added on.
“My aegyo is not torture!” Tao disagreed.
Myungsoo blinked and then tapped on Miyoon’s shoulder. With the questioning look on his face, she knew what he was thinking. “Yeah, he uses aegyo more than a five year old girl.” She acknowledged.
“He does? He doesn’t seem like the type that would do that,” he whispered, shocked.
“That’s what I thought, until I was victimized by him.” Miyoon turned to Tao and Kris to find her brother handing over the bacon strip. “Wise choice,”
“Xia,”
“Hm?”
“Why don’t you do aegyo?” Miyoon choked on her eggs and patted her chest. Everyone stopped what they were doing not because of her choking but because of the question Myungsoo had mentioned.
“Now that I think of it, I have never seen her do aegyo before.” Chen agreed. The others with the exception of Kris nodded.
“Are you kidding me?! She uses aegyo with my parents all the time!” he shouted. Miyoon shrunk back in her seat and sheepishly smiled.
Truth be told, the only people who ever saw her using such tactics were her parents and Kris. No one outside of her home had ever gotten the chance to do so.
“You do?! I bet you look adorable!” Xiumin cooed, pinching her cheeks.
“Yah,” Miyoon grumbled, shooing his hands away.
“Do it for us!” Lay instructed, but Miyoon was not going to comply. She shook her head firmly and continued to eat.
“It’s not that good anyways,” Kris assured.
“That’s why Omma and Appa always cave into me, right?”
“Touché,” he complimented.
“So show us!” Xiumin shrieked, bouncing in his seat.
“No,” was her response. His face fell.
“Why not?” Myungsoo joined in. Miyoon shifted her eyes back to him and shrugged.
“Don’t feel like it,”
“But I’m your best friend, I have a right to see it.” Myungsoo explained, lamely. The Exo M boys looked at each other as they all recalled the incident with his phone. Kris felt himself growing annoyed and quickly finished his plate.
Next he chugged his glass of orange juice in less than twenty seconds and slammed the cup down. Best friend my foot.
The atmosphere was awkward and Miyoon and Myungsoo noticed it immediately. “What’s wrong with you guys?”
“Haha, nothing why would there be something wrong with us!?” Luhan rambled, he grinned sort of creepily transforming his eyes to nothing but slits.
“Why are we talking? Can’t you see the Heaven before our eyes?” Xiumin’s eyes glistened as he grabbed a waffle.
“Yeah, pft there is nothing wrong with perfection!” Chen exaggerated.
“I’m simply trying to enjoy a delicious meal,” Lay added, not tearing his eyes off of the food.
“And I like wushu and breaking t
