special girl.

“Who told you to hang up on me huh?” Kris mocked over the phone.

“How was I supposed to know there was going to be a blizzard coming?” Miyoon rebutted.

“Well, you would have known if you hadn’t been such a brat and decided to end the call when I was in the midd—” Kris stared at the phone in disbelief when all that was audible was the ringing dial. She did not just do that again. He redialed the number but it went to the machine.

“Tch, he didn’t have to rub it in my face.” Miyoon grumbled as she slumped onto the chair. She began to bang her head lightly against the table, wondering if this was really happening or not. Was she seriously snowed in with Lee Howon? Did the great lord wish to see her suffer? Did she commit some heinous crime or disgusting sin in her past life?

Even so, this kind of punishment was just too cruel for anyone to suffer. “Miyoon, what did your parents say?” Mrs. Lee questioned, poking her head into the room.

“They asked if it would be alright if I spent a night here,” she answered a little unwillingly. She thought back to how Hoya said it himself that she wasn't welcomed here, so how could she stay in a home where she was not wanted? She couldn't. But she had no choice, this was fate and it wasn't going to change.

“It will be more than okay! You're welcomed here whenever!” the elder beamed as she vanished.

“Not according to him,” she muttered.

“That's right, remember that.” Hoya's voice suddenly snapped in her mind. Miyoon's head jolted upwards as she searched for him yet he was nowhere to be seen.

“Aish, now I'm imagining his whiney voice too?”

“Who has a whiney voice?” Mrs. Park strolled in, unexpectedly.

Miyoon laughed awkwardly and shook her head, “No one in particular.”

“It sure didn't sound like no one. Who is it? Is that friend of yours still getting picked on by that boy? How long has it been?”

“Halmeoni, why do you have such a good memory?” Miyoon gaped.

“Just because I'm old doesn't mean I'm senile or can be fooled easily,” she grinned, wagging her finger. “I know the friend you were referring to was yourself, Miyoon. I've watched you since you were a baby, didn't think I'd be able to catch you, did you?”

Miyoon scratched her head, sheepishly. “Oh.”

Mrs. Park took the seat next to her and placed a hand over Miyoon's. “Do you want to tell me more about him?” Miyoon felt her heart hitch.

How could she possibly tell her that the guy who was always mean to her growing up and still is until this very day, was her beloved grandson? Anyone could easily infer that it wasn’t the best idea, in fact it would probably be the worst especially with Hoya currently being under the same roof and all.

“Aniya, gwenchana.” She assured with a small, synthetic smile.

Mrs. Park exhaled and nodded, “If you’re sure, but if he keeps bothering you, tell me. I’ll teach him a lesson.” She joked, pounding her fist into her hand.

“Neh, halmeoni.” Miyoon chuckled.

“I think it’s time you got ready for bed, don’t you think?” she pointed out and it was not a suggestion.

“I would but I don’t have any clothes.” Miyoon admitted as she played with the hem of her dress.

“Ah, how could I forget? That dress must be uncomfortable enough.” Mrs. Park exclaimed as she scurried to her room. Shortly after she returned with nothing in her hands. “Maybe I am going senile. Yijung’s clothes along with mine are at the cleaners.”

“Jinjja? Then that’s okay, halmeoni. I’m sure I can manage.” She commented.

“But still—ah I have an idea,” she cheered. “Hoya! Come here,” the elder ordered.

Miyoon as if by nature, became paralyzed at the mere mention of his name. Her grip on the dress tightened as she nibbled on her bottom lip. “Neh?” he responded, waltzing in with a muscle shirt and sweatpants. When he noticed Miyoon also in the room, he put on a bored expression and tucked his hands into his pockets.

“You have extra clothes, don’t you?”

“Geurae, waeyo?” he asked not bothering to acknowledge Miyoon’s existence.

“Go get a set for Miyoon.” Mrs. Park instructed.

“Eh?” Hoya and Miyoon chorused simultaneously.

“What’s wrong with the both of you? I’m the senior here. If anybody should be experiencing hearing problems, it would be me.” She frowned, questionably. “Now go and get something for her to wear Hoya, I’m sure you have a few things that no longer fit you.”

Hoya scowled as his head snapped towards Miyoon. He clenched his jaw firmly together and dragged his feet back to his bedroom. “He’s a very clean boy, so you won’t have to worry about hygiene.”

When Hoya was no longer in the room, Miyoon found it safe enough to lift her chin up. She found Mrs. Park yawning in her seat and smiled, softly. “Are you tired, halmeoni?” she asked out of pure concern. It must have been a long day for her.

“Just a little but I'll go to bed when you do.” she said.

“I'm not five anymore, halmeoni. You don't have to tuck me in. You should sleep first, no ifs ands or buts about it,” Miyoon declared in a firm tone.

“Since when did you become the grownup and I the child?”

“Stop trying to buy yourself time and go to sleep. I'll be fine.” she promised, holding up her palm as though she was taking an oath.

“Arasso, but I'll have Hoya set up your sleeping place then.” she agreed, heading into the living room.

Miyoon's gaze trailed her and she was surprised to find the elder going to the couch, “Halmeoni, wh-why are you sleeping out here? Is this where you always sleep?” she cried.

“Ani but there aren't enough rooms and I doubt you'd want to share one with me. Even if you did someone would end up on the floor.” Mrs. Park explained.

“But this is your house,” Miyoon pouted.

“And you're my guest. Now tell me, would it make me a good host to allow you to sleep on a couch like this?” she rebutted.

“I—“

“That's enough Miyoon. I'm going to sleep do not bother me. Goodnight,” Mrs. Park warned as she tried adjusting to the tiny couch. And before Miyoon knew it, she was out cold.

“This is not a good place for an elder to sleep, why must you be so stubborn, halmeoni.” Miyoon whispered.

“If you didn't want this to happen then you shouldn't have come. See, you're even a nuisance to my grandma.” Hoya hissed from behind. Startled, Miyoon slipped, lost her footing and fell backwards.

However, unlike those typical romantic comedies people would often see where the girl always falls but is luck
